Have to say I do have a begrudging respect for Tipp for the way that in a year like this the vast majority of fans just seem to say "we were sh!te, thank God it's over". Rather than the Waterford whingefest.

Exactly. That’s the part that grates on neutrals. A lot of the postmortem around Waterford senior hurling team can skip past the most obvious explanation: they just weren’t good enough. No team “deserves” to win because of effort, passion, or because a county badly wants it. Over the campaign, Waterford were loose defensively, inconsistent physically, and far too erratic in front of goal. You can debate moments here and there, but if you step back and look at the overall body of work, there wasn’t really a game where you came away saying Waterford were clearly the better side and got robbed.

JJohn Mullane was nearly embarrassing on the indo podcast, you'd think it was a national tragedy that Waterford are not in sone qualifier against Wexford or someone they think they'd beat...getting sick of the whinging from them now...

Leinster championship should grab most of the attention this weekend with the top 3 in munster already decided and just who will play in munster final to decided. Limerick will bt tipp ,then clare will have to beat cork by 5 points or more I believe. A tall order in puc

Dublin kilkenny the game of the weekend. Winners through to Leinster final, a Dublin win and offally win would mean kilkenny would be out. Dubs seems to have a mental weakness when it comes to kilkenny. Looks like an even match with maybe kilkenny having more firepower in attack.

Wheels seem to be coming off for Galway a bit with poor displays against Dublin and kildare in addition to injuries to aaron niland and the excellent rory Burke. Even so they should be well capable of beating wexford.

Limerick and Cork putting out full teams. Both sides have been about win every game and trophy since the start of the year. Gonna take a big performance to beat either on Sunday.

A word about Waterford and their endless and ceaseless moaning and bellyaching about the championship structure. Now personally myself i preferred the other system where the losing team in both Munster and Leinster went straight into the qualifiers, but under this round robin format Waterford have played something like twenty eight championship games for a grand total of four wins.

So come on now folks and get down off the stage and your high horses. It's not the system or the structure that's the problem at all. Waterford as much as hurling needs them to be doing well just haven't been good enough unfortunately.

Would you ever give over. I'm active on the Waterford gaa forum and some fair debates on the format. We're gone. Focus on your own county.

I am in the hurling championship thread right? A silly comment really saying focus on your own county on what is supposed to be a neutral hurling championship in general discussion thread.😉

Yeah.. And Waterford are no longer in said championship. I'd prefer if discussion was on KK vs Dubs tomorrow.

Hmm it looks like we have a backseat moderator on the prowl eh?😉 As i said already though i actually would prefer if the round robin format was done away with.

Wasn't going to weigh in on the structure thing because I think it's a discussion for November or December BUT I agree that the round robin has run its course, there's not enough teams in the championship to keep a round robin interesting, especially when you then also split the championship so that the round robin has the same two groups every single year, so that you face the same four teams each year, potentially meeting the same team three times in the championship, and meanwhile other top teams barely ever meet at all, even neighboring counties with big rivalries between them, as if the Munster rivalries would somehow die overnight if Clare played Galway or kk played Waterford every now and then for a change. Stupid system.

If Galway can't beat this Kilkenny team if its the Leinster final then I dont know what to think of them

Love to see Dublin win Leinster, feel they could give the All Ireland Semi Final a huge rattle

If either Dublin or Galway don't beat Kilkenny they need therapy for Stockholm Syndrome. They are easily the 2 best teams in Leinster and it's only their own heads will change that.

Knocking Kilkenny out will be doing them a favour. They need to get to where Cork were a few years ago before they can admit the scale of the problem.

It's another Glorious day and The Páirc will be bathed in sunshine for the Cork and Clare game. I think it will be close for 50 but Cork's bench to make the difference and a home win by 4 or 5 points hopefully.

I fully expect Limerick to hammer the All Ireland Champions.

I hope Dublin get over the line and finally beat Kilkenny. I read somewhere that they have only beaten them in the championship once since WW2 - they will literally never get a better chance of doing so.

I said at the start of the season that I wouldn't fear Kilkenny in any way if Cork were to meet them in Croker this year - but I really didn't expect them to be as poor as they are. Today has to be Dublins day surely. Bookies have Kilkenny as 4/5 with Dublin 11/8, have to back Dublin at that price. Should be a cracking game in a packed Parnell.

Rushe out for Dublin. Not good for the self doubt and fatalism.

Kilkenny forwards cant seem to win any ball at all in the air so far

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,090 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Dubs played all the hurling but only 4 points up at ht

Leinster really is shocking this year.

I might be doing Kildare a disservice but the reason why they've been somewhat competitive is down to the fact the rest of the Championship is so poor.

I would be amazed if there's a Leinster side in the All-Ireland final.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,834 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

Wexford went from 12 up to 6 and Offaly only 2 up.

Teams could be bobbing up and down all over the live group table in the 2nd half.

I won’t really care if the Dubs get to a Leinster final

Just checked score. That looks a done deal so KK need not to lose.

I think going on the year so far we would be better off going out at this stage.

Might give the county board a kick up the arse
