Bad back to back bogies. Unfortunately Déjà vu

From top 10 to nearly outside top 50. Standard fare for the weekend

Pity he's thrown in a round like this tonight...hopefully can finish well and regroup tomorrow

Well, he birdied the final 2 holes to get back to Even for the round and lie tied 29th. Even is a poor score today as nearly all the field except for about 5, (including Spieth) were under par.

100 percent, some on here would want to cop on,this is a very high level and the margin for error is minimal, the best are getting bogeys,,I think we all want birdies for Seamus but this is a good performance, from where he has been playing,we are blessed with our golfers in Ireland,, possibly the sport we are completely over performing in.

yes, overall I agree, the only issue I'd be concerned about is where is the youth? No really promising young Irish tyros appearing on the DP or other tours for quite a while now…. So that's a concern tbh….

back to Seamus Power, hopefully those two closing birdies to put him back into 29th Can set him up for a good run tomorrow & maybe squeeze into the top 20, or better perhaps… fingers crossed for him.

-2 after 13 today, so basically holding position. T30 would be a good result.

Finished with a 4 under 67, including a monster par saving putt on the 18th. Currently T19, but probably will end up in the low 20s. Probably not enough to get him into the top 100 in the rankings, but should have some further opportunities to improve his ranking over the coming weeks.

Top 20, plus $100k towards this seasons’ cost of competing. Whilst it could have been better, he won’t be disappointed with it either

Nowhere close to Top 100 in OWGR ranking. Rose from 189 to 185.

A messy 3rd round but other 3 rounds were good and he had a positive finish.

True but the important top 100 for him is the FedEX cup standings & he is now right on that bubble. Needs a good few more good/better weeks though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,972 ✭✭✭abff

My reference was to the Fedex Cup rankings. The higher up Seamus gets in these rankings, the more opportunities he will have to regain a full card for next year. World rankings are only important if they get you into the top 30 or top 50, which will gain entry to some of the big money tournaments.

Seamus was looking pretty safe at 3 under with 2 to play. But a bogey on the 17th leaves him tied for 64th and likely to miss the cut. Looks like being yet another missed opportunity to improve his chances of getting playing privileges for next year.

    Outside cut line now.

What a break! He needed one of the last group to double bogey their last hole to make the weekend and Jackson Suber duly obliged with a 3-putt double.

Yes, an unexpected break. It would be great if he can take advantage of this and shoot a couple of good rounds over the weekend. 🤞🤞

    Another missed opportunity, unfortunately.

His round seemed to fall apart after he three putted from 11 feet on the 9th. 😱

Finished with 3 birdies to his round. -2 for a level par total. Yesterday's round was a killer

That's a solid finish just like last tournament. Very few under par today. Lying 57th currently with the rest of the field going backwards. He'll be feeling more positive now.

US Open final qualifying is on today.

He has selected the nearest venue to this week's PGA tour event in Canada. Handy for travel but probably means that this venue will have the strongest field.

Strong field will also mean extra spots available. Not sure if it’s a perfect system, but they do give more spots to places with higher ranked players playing.

A birdie on his last hole in final qualifying would have secured a place in the US Open. Par would have put him in a nine-way playoff for three places. He bogied it.

    Starts with a triple

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 1,283 ✭✭✭billy3sheets

He started on 10th. Seems to be a savage hole. A few triples and loads of doubles on it and even a snowman 8 from Stefan Jaeger.

A good recovery after that awful start to finish +1. He's lying 120th out of 147 though. Will need to be 3 shots better than the field today just to make the cut.

-2 fir today. No bogeys which was good but probably 1 shot to many to make the cut

I think it's time he got himself a coach.
