lads. Watch final 10 seconds.. he was getting hit and hurt. I really wanted to see final round, but referee jumped in to save Rico there. It was right on the bell is what is frustrating

Rico wouldn’t have made the full 12th, but that felt early.

    Cracking uppercut though.

    Hello Fr Time.

BS stoppage but the fight was likely over.

I do think Usyk would have gotten him in the 12th, or at least another KD which would have him winning on my card

Ref was clinical, moment he saw the chance to avoid disapointment he took it, Usyk probably would of finished it in the 12th but Rico deserved to go to the 12th, took no punishment really.

Could not wait to stop it

Usyk has 2 dodgy wins now!

There's no defending that stoppage lads. thats **** horseshit. I love Usyk but he was in serious trouble there. He likely would have stopped him in the next round but ya still don't know. If Rico survives the 12th he wins or he was getting robbed. What absolute bullshit that stoppage was.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61,037 ✭✭✭✭walshb

Referee knew the bell was so close to ringing. That adds to the controversy

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,146 ✭✭✭RoryMac

Exactly, he was eating shots and the ref can't let that happen even if there's only a second left.

Rico was incredible though, out worked and out boxed Usyk for 10 rounds.

    Embarrassing performance from Uysk

How bad a light does that put Joshua and Tyson lol

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61,037 ✭✭✭✭walshb

in fairness to Usyk, Rico fought very well. Was big, fit, strong, heavy handed and awkward. Bit unfair to say Usyk was embarrassing, as it kind of doesn’t really award the credit to Rico

Usyk got out of jail there. Time to hang up the gloves at 39 years old. His legs looked gone in there. Kabayel and Itauma destroys that version of Usyk.

well AJ would very likely flatten Rico early. Fury beats him up as well. Styles make fights!!

    Rico an absolute gentleman

Rico can walk out knowing he **** them all up in real world

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,146 ✭✭✭RoryMac

I'm not taking anything away from Rico but Usyk looked flat footed and out of shape. He had none of his usual foot or head movement. It looked like he thought it was going to be an easy night's work and hadn't put the work in

A stupid fight for Usyk to take, and looks even dumber now than when I heard Jason Statham had a hand in setting it up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,146 ✭✭✭RoryMac

Replays seem to show the bell to end the round had rung before the stoppage, not that it matters now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,093 ✭✭✭✭adox

Usyk obviously didn’t prepare well for this. Never seen him so flat footed. Rico did well and has some engine but come on it was a bit of a circus.

Thought the stoppage was right beside the bell being so near. Rico was all over the shop. Couldn’t even walk straight to the corner to get his gum shield eventually back in. Messed about in the corner as well to buy time.

Reminded me of that Fury fight where Fury got the decision, didn’t take the fight seriously and got the decision even though most knew he lost.

All these bouts do is damage boxing and line the pockets of a few while taking place in artificial boxing settings with zero atmosphere. I was actually surprised and disappointed that Usyk took the fight. He surely doesn’t need the money and with only a couple of fights left in him seemed a complete waste of time and it nearly bit him on the (overweight) backside.

When the dust settles I wouldn't be suprised to see Usyk walk away now, he got away with it tonight, he really didn't look good, looked out of shape, flat footed, footwork not there, movement not there, really looked his age.

He's 39, father time gets to everyone in the end and this could be it for Usyk.

It does matter but its boxing so its corrupt and rotten

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,701 ✭✭✭✭OmegaGene

i thought I heard the bell as the ref stepped in and at the time I assumed the round just ended, I haven’t watched any replays

    The internet isn’t for everyone

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61,037 ✭✭✭✭walshb

give over. Referee is a professional and absolutely entitled to make split second decisions to protect fighters from injury or worse. And lads like you watching on your couch claiming cheating and corruption should never matter!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,026 ✭✭✭Brock Turnpike

Have to agree with this. Usyk was landing well and Rico was already hurt from that KD. The controversy is that the bell was just ringing by the time the ref got in between them. There was an angle they showed where you could see the ref trying to get in between them before he eventually did.

    here’s the score cards

Not sure what I was watching but my scores were way off 😂

It's hard to hear with the commentary but seems the bell rang a second or two before the ref stepped in
