You and that other one are clearly hasbara so I will stop engaging.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 872 ✭✭✭doughef

Hasbara (Hebrew: הַסְבָּרָה) translates literally to "explanation". In practice, it refers to public diplomacy, grassroots advocacy, and strategic communication efforts used to explain Israeli government policies, actions, and perspectives to international audiences. [123]

    are you ok ?

    From New Arab

Two legal organisations have filed a complaint against three senior barristers from a prominent pro-Israeli organisation, two of whom are members of the House of Lords, alleging misuse of professional status in a campaign targeting Palestine solidarity organisations and individuals.

The European Legal Support Centre (ELSC) and the Public Interest Law Centre (PILC) have submitted a legal complaint to a legal regulator, the Bar Standards Board (BSB), against senior barristers, Lord David Pannick KC, Lord Anthony Grabiner KC, and Stephen Hockman KC in their role as patrons of UK Lawyers for Israel (UKLFI).

"UKLFI is a key actor in anti-Palestinian repression," Anna Ost, ELSC's Senior Legal Officer in Britain, told The New Arab.

The complaint was brought on behalf of a cross-sector coalition including teachers, migrant organisations, student unions, NGOs, healthcare professionals, cultural practitioners and "individuals who have done nothing wrong but express solidarity with the people of Palestine".

"Those interventions have frequently relied on legal threats and/or the use of professional legal authority in ways that appear designed to chill speech and deter democratic participation," the PILC told The New Arab.

You get how democracy works, right? Are you suggesting we should pursue an alternative system where only some people's votes count?

Jaysus lad I took you are face value on the other thread with you on about the BIG not playing Israel. More the fool me.

Turns out was just a load of bollox and yet another oddball post on this site happy out a load of "rapists" getting genocided eh. Don't worry about 70% of those 80,000 killed being women and children, sure crack on pretending this slaughter is somehow justified because Denmark something something.

And why do you pretend to care about women in Denmark, i thought your car and your job and paying the bills were all that mattered? Now that's virtue signalling at its finest.

    The videos from Bilbao Airport

I think it might have been planned to blur the line between Spain and Basque to make the Spanish look like hypocrites for criticising Israel’s treatment of Global Sumud Flotilla activists. A set-up by the Basque Police. It's pretty clear what's going on if you watch the videos.

Spain has been a prominent European country supporting Palestinian statehood.

I think they wanted Israel (Netanyahu, Ben-Gvir...) to be able to say look how Spain is treating the Sumud Flotilla activists. And these people are troublemakers wherever they go.

It wasn’t the Spanish Police, it was the Basque Police (Ertzaintza) who answer directly to the Basque government. Many people don’t know that Basque is a semi autonomous region within Spain with their own Basque government.

The below link exposes Israel's influence ties to Basque provinces in Spain: ⬇️

“These are the same cops who've taken €1.6M in Israeli security contracts, trained by former Mossad agents, and equipped with Israeli surveillance tech.”

    Ahmed Eldin / May 24, 2026
    https://ahmedeldin.substack.com/p/spanish-police-beat-global-sumud

"The truth is, the Ertzaintza (Basque Police) has a long-standing, multifaceted relationship with Israel that goes far beyond the Spanish government’s official positions on Palestine.”

“Financial Ties: These aren’t minor transactions. Basque institutions have reportedly spent over €1.66 million on contracts with Israeli-linked security companies. ....”

For years, Israel has aggressively cultivated relationships with European police forces through security training programs. Companies like Israeli Tactical School, International Protection Services, and ISA Security Academy market themselves as premier counter-terrorism experts. Their instructors come from Shin Bet, the Israeli secret service. Their doctrine emphasizes aggressive tactics, crowd suppression, and treating dissent as security threat.”

Civilised democracies must cease all relations with Israel and sever once and for all their octopus tentacles of global influence.

What started it, as shown by your second video, was a bearded actiivist (not the other bearded guy holding up the bouquet) being pushed and corralled by Basque police. Then he moved to greet his supporters, who had been waiting a long time to welcome him back home.

Is that a crime in Basque Country?

Did you see the activist who was using his body to shield his friend, who had already been brutalised by Ben-Gvir’s thugs in Israel. I nearly cried.

"The German organisation Jewish Voice for a Just Peace in the Middle East (JV) may, for the time being, continue to be classified as “extremist” by Germany’s domestic intelligence service. This was decided by a court in Cologne last Wednesday.

The organisation describes itself as anti-Zionist and is among the most prominent Jewish voices in Germany advocating for Palestinian rights. It characterises what has been taking place in Palestine for more than 100 years as settler colonialism, apartheid, and ethnic cleansing. Its members appear publicly at demonstrations and as speakers, and support initiatives such as the global BDS movement and the German “Kufiyas in Buchenwald” campaign.

While JV has faced a mixture of systematic ignorance and defamation as “self-hating Jews” from the German mainstream media, it has increasingly come under scrutiny from the authorities amid the intensification of anti-Palestinian repression in Germany since October 2023. Prominent members such as Iris Hefets and Udi Raz, for example, have repeatedly been arrested by police in Berlin during protest actions. In 2024, Jewish Voice was labelled “extremist” for the first time in the so-called “Verfassungsschutzbericht“, an annual publication issued by the domestic intelligence service. As in the case of the Palestinian prisoner solidarity network Samidoun and the group “Palästina Solidarität Duisburg“ (Palestine Solidarity Duisburg, PSDU), which were banned by decree of the Interior Ministry in November 2023 and May 2024 respectively, the authorities accuse JV of violating the principle of “international understanding” (an extremely vague concept drawn from the German constitution) and of spreading “anti-Israeli propaganda”. Unlike in the cases of Samidoun and PSDU, however, the issue with Jewish Voice is not an outright ban on the organisation – at least not yet –, though its classification as “extremist” could pave the way for exactly that. In the immediate term, the registered association’s charitable status is also under threat."

They were blocking the arrivals gate at the airport. The cops have every right to keep the gate clear for the many orher passengers arriving into the airport. They werent being pushed or corralled by police.

The entitlement of these virtue signaling clowns is unreal. They believe the whole world revolves around them, could they not have shown some manners to the other passengers ?

That bearded guy had stuck his shoulder into the back of another cop then grabbed a cop from behind which started the incident

I never said anything to justify Israels actions. I just find it odd that people can be quite singular in what they get outraged by.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,131 ✭✭✭Paddy_Mag

They won't. The trade links with Israel for USA is huge and Ireland had a particularly large trade link with them due to the American MNC set up here. Thats why i think the Occupied Territories Bill wont be signed into law here as it puts 1000s of jobs at risk.

Practically everyone with a smartphone, laptop, tablet is using devices with parts manufactured in Israel or software developed there.

Whatever point you think you were making was lost on me when I saw the words virtue signaling. Do you really think using that expression is making some sort of edgy point?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,579 ✭✭✭Miniegg

Yes you did. You were asked about a genocide mostly against women and children, and you brought up some bullshit*t about Palestinians being rapists.

Absolute sh*t comment in any walk of life, what a way to frame things, but don't worry well used to it from the assorted head the balls of the same mindset who litter this site.

Guess all that stuff about the FAI was just another load of crap, I'm sure they don't need you sticking up for them no more than the women in Denmark do, but at least you got your kick in. And you talk about virtue signalling…

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,131 ✭✭✭Paddy_Mag

So you confirm that I actually didnt, thanks for clarifying.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,131 ✭✭✭Paddy_Mag

But it is virtue signalling. And the sense of self entitlement by these clowns in a big city airport is astonishing. They got what the deserved and it was all self inflicted.

You literally repeated what I actually said, which proves i did not say what tou initially claimed.

Thanks for clarifying you were wrong in your accusation.

Saying "virtue signaling" isn't clever or edgy.

Well backtrack all you want (or whatever this game is you are at), but the beauty of the written word is everyone here can make up their own minds about what you said. To me, just another scummy comment admidst the scum comments.

Anyway, if I have you wrong, the FAI and women in Denmark are lucky to have you taking time out of paying bills and mortgages to bravely defend them against Palestinian rapists.

Stop quoting me, I have no interest in engaging with you further as you clearly aren't posting in good faith.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,131 ✭✭✭Paddy_Mag

    Pot, kettle, black.

The video is clear. Yet you deny the video evidence and try blaming the airports police.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,131 ✭✭✭Paddy_Mag

Im not back tracking. I never said anything to justify Israels actions like you claimed i have.

And you since clarified that i didnt too

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,579 ✭✭✭Miniegg

Ok. What Israeli actions are you not justifying?

Unfortunately those in Bilbao showed themselves in a very bad light.

Attention seekers and recreation rioters who did nothing to advance the cause of whatever their aim was.

Basically showed themselves as a bunch of rabble acting out faux concern.

A dignified arrival , quietly spoken, would have been far more effective……But hey… seems they wanted a bust up.

    Bad mistake.
