Yep the media don’t seem to take into account the influence of the sea on our little island. Sea temps are still quite cold at this time of year so exposed coasts will feel it.

Here’s hoping we get frequent blasts of heat as we go through the summer as the sea temps will be warmer, increasing our chances of beating the all time highest temperature in Ireland.

Some of the models continue to show 29 or 30 degrees for west Dublin on Monday but 26 or so is more likely IMO. There is no official heatwave forecasted but I doubt people will mind. If the sun is out most people will be happy.

vile pig of a day, annoying blustery wind with lumps of grey drizzly pig gloom pouring in of the Atlantic.

Giving pigs a bad name 😁

Lovely day in Kerry with bright sunny spells, got up to 17.2C, 16C atm. Been lovely inland all the way over to the Cork border, much lighter breeze inland, a bit cloudier now but still some bright patches and sunshine getting through.

18c here in Carrick-on-Shannon but cloudy ⛅️ sun trying to pop out , 23c I see in Dublin, I see the UK may break their may record of 32.8ºc on Monday, wonder if we will ever beat our overall record of 33.3ºc hopefully

Sooo disappointing, the strong wind makes outdoor busyness miserable and the clothes were flittered off the line. No heatwave here in South Sligo.

Sea breeze died down as it often does at this time, temperature shot up to 24.6C , absolutely bliss, feels like holidays.

New May station record set (13 years recording here) 24.9C, previous record was 24.8C set May 30th last year. Was lighting the stove last week!

a lovely day here in Meath, bags of sunshine and 20C, summer is finally here! But make the most of the coming 5 to 6 days because the opening week of June is currently looking poor, but hopefully the poor outlook for early June will go away, it's certainly not set in stone yet.

it was a *nice day here today. Mostly sunny and pleasant. The wind has picked up in the last half an hour and I’ve come indoors. Delighted to get anything and take any decent day I can get here as really our expectations are so low.

*absolutely not heatwave and not hot.

How come every time there is a bit of good weather you have to tell people to enjoy it and then mention the poor weather on the way? Its Ireland,we know this weather doesn’t last forever. It might only be a day or two,a week, two weeks.

And who is to say that poor weather will come? I know its the form horse in Ireland but at the moment its in fantasy land.

Stunning here in Dublin aswell, cloud came in as we were having the barbecure but still lovely heat coming through even with clouds!

Its been a great day here in north Longford. Started breezy, chilly and cloudy. We got some sunny spells throught the afternoon, it got up to 19c at one stage and felt very warm anytime any effort was needed, which wasn't too often today😀. Cloudy now and feels chilly in the breeze again. Jacket back on as I head off for a walk.

Still 20 degrees here at 9pm at DA.

I'm still sitting out in my sundress not a bit cold.

It's as good as been on holidays!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,356 ✭✭✭Bishop of hope

Personally I hope we don't break that record. With our humidity it'd be a killer. Anywhere in the 23° to 27° range i can live with, after that I'd be heading for a siesta and plugging in my mobile air conditioner.😀

what’s with the passive aggressive post? You know as well as I do that the talk all week has been heatwave and hot. Don’t bother reading or replying to my posts if it upsets you that much. Sad……

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,491 ✭✭✭Dazler97

I know ye very humid with our hot spells let's see anyway

Well to be fair the heat wave talk was mostly the rag tabloids. Dont think anyone is expecting one.

On another note, the midges are biting this eve!
