What mainstream media are you signed up to and do you actually read? The Indo, the Examiner, the Times, RTÉ and even the redtops featured both killings. Did you buy the papers or sign up to them, or are you just guessing? They also specifically carried appeals from the Gardaí not to share the footage of Alex Coughlan, while the Henry St. death was broadcast all over social media.

Either way, two men lost their lives in horrific ways and I find your post a bit disingenuous, trying to use their deaths to stir up crap.

What mainstream media displayed a lack of outrage? Both incidents were reported and the facts, as they were known at the time, were equally disseminated to the public. That’s what journalists do, gather information and disseminate it. In time there may be further in depth reporting, but right now there hasn’t been a trial, a court date or detailed evidence heard in public.

The death of Alex Coughlan, an innocent man who was robbed and later killed in broad daylight, is tragic and genuinely shocking. Likewise, a man losing his life on one of Ireland’s busiest streets following an incident involving security staff is deeply disturbing.

Because the two incidents involve different racial backgrounds and very different circumstances, there are inevitably people like you trying to turn them into broader cultural or political arguments. There’s very little anyone can do about that.

What matters is that both fatalities are serious, both are under investigation, and both deserve to be discussed using facts rather than outrage driven narratives. We already have you getting overexcited and complaining about a supposed lack of public reaction before either case has even reached a courtroom.

You’re no different though. You’re doing exactly the same thing from the opposite direction.

You’re taking two separate deaths, attaching race and politics to them, and using them to push a wider narrative. That’s precisely the behaviour you were accusing others of.

My point was simply that both incidents are serious, both deserve proper investigation, and neither should be reduced to online tribalism before the facts are fully established.
