I've always felt (could be 100% wrong) that a lot of this "staying in Croke Park" might be due to Premium Level tickets and those with the boxes? Would there not be some sort of commitment to what they get for what they pay?

Onky thing is Dublin games in league anyways , barely scrape 20k if that.

Hi all, a 🐱 here. Just wondering where is a good place to park tomorrow for the game, I should be there 2 hours before. No problem paying or walking a bit. Thanks in advance and best of luck to both teams tomorrow, it will be epic 💪💪

If Jim McGunness doesn’t get a 12week ban, Ger Brennan should be straight on the phone to Tony Hanahoe.

It is a good auld weekend so far Kerry losing, Meath losing. and Jim McGuinness maybe a 12 week ban. Now the Dubs just have to beat the cats tomorrow.

GAA will be tying themselves in knots trying to find away of letting him off. Was or wasn’t in refs report, ref dealt with it at the time, or didn’t deal with it, wasn’t clear enough evidence etc etc.

it was much worse than Ger Brennans one too, charging around looking to start a fight with multiple players. Donegals behavior was shocking all over, taking dives as if shot and then all reacting as if someone was shot too. GAA should ban a few more out of it.

I got the impression with Ger’s reaction apologising early , and must have assumed it would be a lighter penalty. Claiming it was “disruptive conduct” not “physical interference” on appeal.

Of course he won’t get a 12 week ban. Worse case 3 weeks but the next game be on the Sunday so it’ll end on the Saturday or some crap like that. Should be 12 weeks like Ger otherwise it makes a mockery of things. They’ll be doing something for Saint David so no ban for him also

I must admit it annoys me as the rule 5 clearly says ANY physical interference. I mean you either apply the rules consistently or you don’t .

    https://www.rte.ie/sport/gaa/2017/0615/883046-connolly-decides-against-continuing-appeal/

Diarmuid Connolly got a 12 week suspension for pushing a linesman v Carlow 2017.

    https://www.rte.ie/sport/gaa/2017/0615/883046-connolly-decides-against-continuing-appeal/

Connolly was charged under a different rule 1.2 - in category 5 - Offence

"Minor physical interference with a Referee, Umpire, Linesman or Sideline Official."

It is all the more annoying that Brennan apologised almost immediately. Basically said he was an eejit and shouldn’t have done it etc straight away. Maybe that is where he went wrong if he threatened legal action beyond the GAA processes he might have got more joy.

I get the feeling that if Brennan was a higher profile manager and not as honest he wouldn’t have got that treatment.

The only other example I can find where a got a 12 week suspension under Rule 5 was 2018 when Kevin McStay (Roscommon manager) threw a ball at the referee.

    https://www.donegaldaily.com/gaa/roscommon-boss-mcstay-accepts-12-week-ban-after-linesman-incident-288099

It was reported in the Donegal Daily 2018 and all. I love the irony!

How have they so few turnstiles open

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,752 ✭✭✭✭billyhead

    Rushe might not start.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,213 ✭✭✭MFPM

Dublin will never have a better chance to best KK....very tight..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,390 ✭✭✭✭gormdubhgorm

Great chance in the final now. Constant workrate, well structured, great defending, great game management, and a good bit of skill.

This could be as good or better than
    the Dalo days.

congrats to Dublin, savage defensive display without two stalwarts, were 14 points the better team in reality

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,662 ✭✭✭munster87

Well done Dublin, Kilkenny never really looked like getting anything out of that game at any point

Unreal performance, defence was savage all game. Worked the ball well and scores came easier than previous years against the Cats. Only downside was the amount of wides but something to work on.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

unbelievable performance and atmosphere. Well deserved win , defence was immense.

  • Subscribers Posts: 17,208 ✭✭✭✭copacetic

didn’t fancy being able to hold Kilkenny so well when Rushe didn’t start. Couldn’t have been more wrong, absolutely great performance and fight all over the pitch. Being in Parnell seemed to help quite a bit but well deserved win.

I think early in the second half when we got it back to a point we very much looked like we were going to push on. But full credit to Dublin, they kept their structure and took their opportunities, they were sharper, played harder, worked better, moved the ball smartly, and were full value for the win.

From a kilkenny poster (username should tell you I had long connections to Dublin hurling though), well done to the dubs, hope ye win Leinster and maybe take some Munster scalps as well while you're at it.

Good result for Dublin. Great composure by the lads.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,632 ✭✭✭Gael85

Another Cork Limerick Munster final. Clare no Munster final win since 98 looking at bigger picture.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,213 ✭✭✭MFPM

In a shocking twist no one saw coming Jim McGuinness will get no ban! 🙄 while Ger Brennan's actions were stupid and deserved a ban, the length was overly punitive - the GAA weren't going to repeat the mistake by hitting JMcG with an equivalent so as they always do they chose the cowardly route and let him off..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,390 ✭✭✭✭gormdubhgorm

Yeah they hid behind the “referee dealt with it on the pitch” line . He didn’t give McGuinness anything. Yet when McStay and Brennan had physical interference with staff officials they were in the ref’s report.

But the CCCC could have set another precedent used video evidence as proof. Themselves. Now they are effectively saying video evidence means nothing and if the referee didn’t do anything about it, we wash our hands of it.

exactly as expected and the few pet journos now explaining how it was really difficult to act and it is really a bit different if you think about it as the ref didn’t do his job at the time so they can’t really do anything now, hands are tied.

GAA really can be a farce of an organisation. Try to crack down on this kind of thing, make an example of Ger Brennnan, doesn’t work, then chicken out the first time in might actually matter. McGuinness will be chuckling away to himself.

just on this, Dublin now joint 4th favourites for the AI alongside Clare. Odds on Limerick and Cork have tightened, everyone else has moved out (with the exception maybe Dublin).
