Upload your data to energypal and see what he suggests. What size battery are you getting, how much of your usage outside the 2-6 window would it cover?

Renewed with flogas for dual fuel 24 hr standard as they are still the cheapest across the board with 28% discount. They advertise the FeelGood Customer Rewards as being a benefit but you can only avail of the 'Thank you reward' once when you first sign up and not on renewal which is a bit sneaky. Changing your email and signing up as a new customer only gives you 20% discount.

It also took me 30 mins to get to speak to someone to set up up their version of Level Pay every month but their system was stalling (happened last time I rang too) but they'd try to get back to me by Monday ( :-)) with monthly rate and you can only pay at the end of each month. No rush lads.

for those who need a 24 hour rate, i was helping father in law and 28.10 inc vat is the best i found, with Energia.
standing charge is : € 265.01’inc vat per annum

That's actually pretty decent. It was 26c on the 24hr before the Iran stuff

Time is contagious, everybody's getting old.

Used switcher last night to sign up to a 24 hour rate cos im sick of the day/night/peak crap and energia have upped my bill massively now that my 1 year contract expired.

Saw a nice 29.8c/kwh with 9.6c on the gas with Electric Ireland - EnergySaver Dual 14% plan.

Switcher emailed me today saying that plan is not available on my smart meter sorry try again.

About to tear my hair out with how convoluted Switching power provider has become. Not to mention the prices are atrocious now. WTAF?

Ridiculous . Back to square one afterhours of BS comparing incomprehensible plans

I would say a round 60% night just 40% day. For now will get 5kW battery.

"The price for the installation is as follows.

1 Solis S5. RHI % KW Hybrid inverter.

1 Weco 5K3. Lithium ion battery.

1 set of cable and switch gear.

    Total including labour €3600.

Less trade in allowance of your existing Solis inverter € 500."

Try Electric Ireland directly. That plan is up there for smart meters so I don't see why you should be able to get it (if you have have an activated smart meter).

…. or at least "should not" !

Have a very similar scenario to yourself and also interested in adding a battery…. would be very interested to hear who's putting in your battery and what's it costing, if you can share? Thanks

Got sorted with FloGas directly who were doing a nearly identical deal to the one bonkers rejected so hopefully this one goes through ok

You should take your HDF file and upload it to EnergyPal or another site which can analyse it for you. That takes all the convolusion out of it.

You have an activated smart meter. The EnergySaver Dual - 14% is a standard tariff. You can only sign up for smart tariffs. You should only look at those labelled smart tariffs. Its important to note, there are smart tariffs that are a flat rate for 24 horus.

I downloaded the hdf file from the ESB website but any comparison website kept saying "I must have 1 year data". But there was only 1 download options for the hdf file i couldn't edit the timeframe.

Besides I opened the hdf in excel and there literally was 1 year of data.

All these tarrifs are so confusing. There's dozens upon dozens and when it asks me to select which one ive no idea because my energia bill tarrif just says "electric ".

Please god this flow gas contract works.

Mental stuff how convoluted changing electricity providers has become in recent years.

energypal can take a HDF with less than one year of data.

if you signed up to a smart FloGas tariff, it’ll work. If you didn’t, it’ll be rejected. It’s that simple.

I'd be wary of using those websites, they don't have every plan on the market. For example I was advised to go on a smart EV plan despite most of my night units being between midnight and 2am. It seems to forget that an EV needs to charge for more than 3 or 4 hours a night as well

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,145 ✭✭✭bren2001

I think when someone is signing up for standard tariffs when on a smart meter, the best advice for them is to use one of these sites. The poster above doesn't appear to have much knowledge nor the appetite to learn more about different tariffs. EnergyPal doesn't seem to be the most reliable these days and its likely better to go Bonkers or other.

They just analyse your data and assume your usage pattern for the next 12 months will be identical.

Pinergy remove new signups to EV Night TimeTariff

I'm fully willing to learn about the different tarrifs but I know full well that some nights our cars and solar battery will need between 45 and 65kWh to charge overnight. You simply don't get that with an EV rate

My comment was about the other poster, not you. I agree with your general point.

Just been on to Flogas as I realised I hadn't had a bill this month.. turns out they had a problem with ESB giving them wrong smart meter readings. After this was rectified, they then had a problem 'their' side.

Anyway I now have 3 electricty bills coming to me next week.. so annoying.. their payment portal is broke also.

Roll on end of year till I'm out of contract.. no even email from them to inform me of the problem..

Putting it out here in case others are in the same boat..

I had to use duck duck as safari fails to open the pop up

    The internet isn’t for everyone

Increased in recent days to 29.70, inc vat.

    Discount reduced from 30 % to 26 %

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 805 ✭✭✭glen123

Does anyone know if changing plans with the same provider while in contract will incur a 50eur penalty? Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,278 ✭✭✭Escapees

Think the penalty is often waived, but you would not be allowed to change to plans offered only to new customers...

warning for anyone manually paying with flogas: keep an eye on your next bill and ensure the deducted what you’ve paid manually.

because I done this and they didn’t deduct what I paid manually until I emailed them complaining

I have to go over all my last 4 Flogas bills. They'd overcharged me on previous ones, and gave me credits, but based on previous I doubt they're righ.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,805 ✭✭✭✭CoBo55

They don't put actual meter readings on the bill which I find a bit annoying, my billing period runs from the 18th to 18th or 19th of each month, I wrote down my meter reading this month and I'll check it again next month just to be sure.

I’m with flo gas and my payments are always taken from the bill amount just fine, I throw them a few quid every week to be ahead
