    Hi,

I was hoping to buy one entry to the Gold Circle lounge in Dublin to go with my two Aer Credit card ones, but now I see that this is not possible.

Does anyone have one available that they are willing to give me? Happy to pay.

    Thanks

heavens steer clear of that hell hole, doesn’t the aerclub credit card give access to the phoenix,go there instead

No, it gives you two passes a year for the Aer Lingus lounge only.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 159 ✭✭Lapmo_Dancer

No it doesn’t. It’s the BOI Black/Premier card that gives access to the DAA lounges.

Ah,I was travelling with someone who got in with their BoI card

I assumed it was the aerclub one,I didn’t ask

The Aerlingus lounge is utterly run down,I’d rather be in one of the bars outside paying for pub grub than there

Not sure when you were last in the AL lounge but we were in there in October and it was grand, quiet, food was decent and the booze was free, lots of wins there

I was there about 3 weeks ago, packed, tables not cleared old packed sandwiches and lukewarm warm soup, that’s about it

The wine was very cheap plonk

Only reason I went in was to meet someone

It’s a dive in my opinion

DAA got sense (but it possibly also had something to do with us having the EU presidency from July) and built a world class lounge in the phoenix, one of the biggest now in Europe

The Aerlingus lounge on the other hand is suffering, like the airline from IAG starving it of funding

For an airline lounge its very, very poor. It compares quite well to the third party lounges in other places; but I'm not sure that's what they want to compete with. DAA lounges are well above the average third party quality.

Food is consistently sub par and they need more people clearing tables. Never look at the wine but the spirits options are surprisingly good.

Anyone know how long BA flights are taking to credit to Aerclub currently? Was ~3 days last year for me, but it's now 2 weeks for my most recent ones.

according to flyertalk months in some cases, one guy waiting on 800+ to credit…

I was there too around the same time. Very poor food offerings, crap scones and cereals in the early morning. Quite a contest for seats too. The only benefit is that those in there tend to be respectfully quiet, whereas elsewhere in can be fairly chaotic

"Only" 100 tier and sub 1000 avios pending for me, but if I was close to a tier changeover i would be very unhappy with the wait! This is like Gold Circle days

I flew BA Mon and Wed DUB-LCY last week. Avios and QPoints credited to my Qatar Privilege club account on Thurs and Saturday respectively

And yeah the AL lounge was brutal, they didnt even have the soup that others have mentioned at 11am and breakfact was crackers, scones, cheese, limited mixed fruit and cereals

I waited 10 weeks for AA flights to credit before having to go through the missing tier credits form.

slight update in some areas seeing BA credits post now so fingers crossed they clear the backlog quickly

I'm fully expecting to need the form. Would be happy if I didn't, particularly when last time they were very fast.

Will ruin my fun of having them appear beside my Marriot credit for the same trip and moan about how I got more Avios for the hotel than the flight; but I think because it was a low earning brand (Four Points Flex, aka "we bought this hotel and its not up to spec yet") and a J flight that won't actually happen this time.

Aer Lingus lounge is hampered by a lack of space for kitchen for hot food. Levels of staffing a joke, needs to be gutted and expanded.

I visited the Dublin lounge for the first time last week and witnessed mould on top of the coffee machine and a toilet bowl falling off the wall in the gents. Quite poor!

Just be warned that unused passes do not carry, if you dont use them by the renewal date they are lost.

The toilets are a disgrace, only two cubicles for the amount of people they let in is daft and as you say run down. The same graffiti has been on the stalls for a long time at this stage. You have to plan not to use them and use the main terminal facilities before and after unless you are happy to take a chance where you will more than likely have to queue.

Thats my main gripe with the place. I think some of the other dissatisfaction on here about the place is unfair and expectations are hugely unrealistic. At the end of the day Aer Lingus's main business class passengers (high paying customers) will use the 51st and Green so the main users of this lounge are short haul economy travellers (along with a low % of business class fliers to CA, the late US flight and also when the 32X’s with J seats are used in the morning), fair enough they may be frequent fliers but how many of them are paying high fares as Aer Lingus fares are not that expensive. Which leads me to think it is unfair to compare the lounge offering to other European airlines flagship lounges where a lot of the users are business class fliers who are paying big fares so therefore deserve a much higher class of treatment than in aer lingus's case where the people using the lounge may have only paid €100 for a segment.

Those blaming IAG or the "bean counters" are also a bit short sighted or maybe lack commercial acumen, why would they offer the likes of caviar or Dom Perignon of rare steak if they have no competition so no compelling reason to do so other than to throw money away?

For me if I am flying short haul my expectations of a lounge is somewhere to grab a coffee (to the lounges credit they do make a nice coffee) / beer and a snack and to sit in a comfortable seat for half an hour and the aer lingus lounge meets these expectations for me. The only other thing I have ever needed from a lounge was a quick shower which this lounge also offers. Yes its busy but so are most of the other European lounges, thats whether you are using a pay for entry or an airline operated one.

    Fair assessment ^^

One positive about the lounge is it doesn't let too many kids in and it's mostly used by business travellers so it's great if I've an after work flight and I need to work for an afternoon there (much less anxiety heading to the airport over lunch and working there and walking straight onto the plane than spending the afternoon wondering if there'll be a crash on the M50).

I tried working from the T1 lounge before and it was impossible to take a call with the loud music playing and the screaming kids running around.

    Yep, was in it Friday.

Was very good, easily one of the best ove been in. Great selection of food including hot breakfast and despite having a 2 alcoholic drink rule, they don't seem to enforce unless you are taking the piss.

Nobody is asking for caviar or Dom Perignon, people are asking for the hot food to be actually hot, not lukewarm, some fresh food, wine that's not from the bargain bin, clean tables and furniture without holes, charging ports that work. The EI lounge in Heathrow is considerably better than Dublin, that's a pretty poor indictment.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,663 ✭✭✭✭cson

Yeah I think people are basically asking for it to be on a par with the LHR lounge and its absolutely nowhere near it. That shouldn't be difficult in EI's home airport.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 76,149 ✭✭✭✭L1011

My BA avios and credits have come in, so under 3 weeks which is both ridiculous (it was days before) and yet nowhere near as bad as some others are experiencing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,786 ✭✭✭allybhoy

Does anyone here know how to apply for missing credits on flights, flew to Madrid last month and the inbound leg is there but not the outbound leg, also flew home from LHR 2 weeks ago and missing the return trip, although on that one i managed to change to an earlier flight at the desk when i got to the terminal so might be that..
