    Hi all,

    Can anyone please inform me of the process of buying the a.m. scope. As far as I understand it needs a separate licence (€80 x 3yr). Does it require extra home security or just held in my gunsafe? At present I use a torch mounted on my day scope for vermin control on my permissions. A dedicated NV scope would be a lot handier for me. All info. much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Hi Liam,

    Yes a new application (€80 for 3 years).

    Same process / form as a firearm, tick the restricted firearm in the box.

    You need the make, model and serial number. So again, it's the same as a firearm, you don't possess it until you get the licence.

    Same security requirements as a restricted firearm.

    Might be helpful to add a page to the application to state why you need it, i.e. pest control. Your quarry ( rabbit/ fox ) not seeing the light and not running off and you can see background much better so is also safer.......
