    Times have changed.

Back then you were paying todays equivalent of 40 euros for a CD. And god knows I was in plenty of apartments and flats in Dublin where there'd be several hundred CDs on an expensive rack.

Arguably, Paul Simon Stevie Nicks et al would not be doing this if tickets were 60 euro, I dont know.

Anyway, like you I've seen him a bunch of times. I'd say he is my all time favourite singer/ musical artist. Will I go to see him this time, not sure.

TBH, I am very surprised to see him touring given his recent health / hearing issues.

I'm kind of at the stage where going to a concert, or not going to it, is not the be all and end all.

And where I'd rather see Paul Brady in a small venue in Meath than see Paul Simon in the 3Arena.

There are some great shows to be had for the 60-80 euro bracket. And indeed for 20-30 euro.

(Having said that….if the Cocteau Twins got back together… or The Smiths.)

I was at that gig, didn't know Everly Brothers were supporting until I got there, was a brilliant night.

Got tickets for this as a gift. Would not have been ones Id personally purchased which made it a nice surprise. Looking forward to it!

Well The Smiths would probably blow the Oasis madness out of the water if they reformed 😀

Paul Brady at a small venue would be a super gig- last time I saw him was NCH with an orchestra I think - would prefer a dingy dive and a pint in my hand . I saw James Taylor for small money a few years ago - delighted I caught him and I see he’s back again this year -I guess if people haven’t seen Simon, and you’re into your music, my advice would be go see him - just not for me at this stage - been there done that 20 or so years ago- nothing will recreate that high I got seeing Art and himself on stage and the Everly Bros were a huge bonus - both since passed away - so see them while you still can is a good motto for those aging singers

That’s a real present isn’t it - getting something you wouldn’t have purchased yourself but still happy you have it - enjoy!

Thats kind of what I meant when talking about smaller gigs - I've seen Paul Brady twice in Ratoath, roughly 250 person capacity. Just brilliant. I'd go to that 10 times over if I could.

Does he play small venues these days? I must check his website for tours like that

I would think there would be a lot of auto tune & backing vocals going on. The poor man has said he has hearing problems. Just but something like Bridge over troubled waters. To think I used to pay 1.50 to see The Clash.

You should listen to the arrangement he did on Bridge over Troubled Waters for the 2018 tour, was very nice.

Who would you pay €176 to see ,even if it were not really possible now. Without a doubt I would say Free, I would have loved to see Paul Kossoff at his peak, such a sad loss.

If there are still a large number of tickets left a day or two before a show do they discount them?
I'd love to go but paying €176 - €216 is crazy.

The promoter won't but if someone who bought can't go they might lower their price and put them up as resale tickets. Usually any discount from promoter would be an early bird one. Think promoters usually avoid discounts closer to gig as gives an incentive then for people to wait. There might be the odd competition too. I think Paul Simon won't have too many tickets left by the time it's on but I could be wrong though!

i have been a huge fan all my life but 200 euro a ticket….no thanks.

Certainly Still Crazy After All These Years

"Jokes" aside, I could not go for those prices either.

Also, in the 3 arena when they've seated the standing area, you can purchase a ticket for a row it seems, but not a specific seat in the row.

    Is that right or ?

The flat seated tickets have rows and numbering and are sold as row A seat 25 etc. it’s not first come first serve

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,365 ✭✭✭✭SuperBowserWorld

Ok. I was sure it had a - (dash) for the seat when I checked before for layouts like this. Maybe I'm imagining it.

Think that's just in the first page, if you click through to checkout it fills in the seat number(s)

    Gig a week away

No doubt will be an enjoyable night and best to not go in expecting the greatest hits and a S&G singalong

Looking forward to it. The setlist seems fixed since the tour started. I won't spoil it in case you don't know, but it's good. Does play the new album, Seven Psalms, in full.

He explains the structure of the show at the outset, so you'll have an idea what's in store.

2026 Gigs and Events: An Evening with The Fast Show, Prima Facie, Stereolab (NCH), Foo Fighters, David Byrne (3Arena), Belle and Sebastian (x2), Kraftwerk, Paul Simon, David Byrne (St. Anne's Park), Keb' Mo', Metallica (x2), Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, Embrace, Sigur Rós with the Ulster Orchestra, Crash Test Dummies, Gilbert O'Sullivan, Ben Folds, Jeff Tweedy, Nicko McBrain, Anna Lapwood

and the structure was announced before tickets went on sale. First 1/3 of show is new album in full, then hits and deep cuts for rest of the show.

In now and had my tickets in block g upgraded to flats... I wonder what that meant in terms of sales.

If Your tocket scans red at first that is likely what happened to you, ask the line manager and if so you get directed to the box office to print the new ticket.

    I was in Block H.

Great gig, and a lovely surprise when he brought Martin Hayes on stage with him for "The Boxer".
