Southampton expelled from promotion playoffs and start next season with a 4 point deduction.

Not unless VAR hands them a ton of points again.

Have to disagree with the worst season, a lot of the chasing pack have improved this season, Villa and Palace getting to European finals and Villa getting a champion league spot, Bournemouth and Brentford having played well. As Arsenal fan still think the premiership matches are a better watch than a lot of European leagues we same one or two teams at the top.

    Posters claiming worst season ever.

MU only play 40 games in a season.

    Coincidence? 🤣

Well done Arsenal, certainly not worst season, City really chased them down, until end.

I know Spurs have injuries but why do they keep picking Kolo Muani ? , has he played one decent game this season ?

    And... breathe.

Not been the prettiest football but after 22 years it doesn't matter if it goes in off your left testicle.

Job done. Finally. Hopefully the shackles come off a little now the monkey is off the back.

We've no one else to play right forward. Like literally no one in the squad. I agree that he's been absolutely shocking though, pretty much a waste of a spot. Our entire front line is terrible at the moment, and we struggle massively to convert anything. Look at our top scorers ffs…

Should have had a penalty (ball was in play when VdV was fouled) and Delap should have been sent off today as well. We've gotten absolutely nothing from the refs all season.

Richarlisson was great for us when we stayed up, see nothing in Kolo Muani , we play you at weekend , we have injuries and are misfiring ourselves, but no pressure.

I think Arsenal will be lucky to get champions league next season if the FA stop allowing rugby tactics during corners.

Correct, the premier league matches are better to watch and more entertaining than the European games

    Guardiola's legacy

    • Won titles with Barca who allegedly had referees on their payroll
    • Won a few Bundesligas with Bayern, who win it every year anyway. Didn't crack an egg in the CL
    • Won titles with City #115

    All with unlimited funds too

    Best manager evah

Congratulations to Arsenal. Any gunner I've met irl i argue with constantly but no doubt they are passionate and real football people who are there to defend their club whatever.

I think the way they played this season has been utter dogsh*t but if they use this title as a platform to play a more expansive game in the coming years then I think they will get a lot more credit for this one as well.

I thought I would be sick seeing them celebrate but actually, I'm happy for them. As a club, they've done it the right way and it's nice to know that perseverance and stability can be rewarded.

Huge can of worms opened. Wrexham will feel aggrieved too.

    Lawsuits incoming.

    Isn't the final this weekend?

They'll hardly get a chance to appeal it beforehand?

Have they a leg to stand on anyway? Amateur stuff from them.

For a long time Arsenal were my second most hated rivals and no more than United, the downturn in fortunes over the last decade has been stark but they stuck with Arteta, even when many fans, in here and elsewhere, wanted him gone (iirc 3 or 4 seasons ago Quazzie was the only one in here whose support for him was unwavering).

It wasn't always pretty and most likely how the refs police set pieces will be hugely under the microscope during the summer but to paraphrase Sami Hypia, if you win every game one nil you win everything.

It's brilliant to see a great club that's properly run, with a good fan base (the few yahoos that every club has notwithstanding) winning the biggest prizes. Hopefully they will get the double done. Well done Arsenal.

    finally, someone making sense.

Don’t understand how people are so against Arsenal and for 115 FC. In any other walk of life the people who openly cheated to success would be lambasted and the people who did it the right way would be lauded.

Not in premier league land however and it’s millions of subjects, and apparently all because Arteta has Lego hair, tight trousers, waves his hands a lot and complained about getting rode by refs 3 years ago v Newcastle.

But the graceless, spitty king of the cheaters is a good guy by comparison and many in the kingdom (not fans of 115 FC incidentally) would have loved to see him win all the prizes again. Bizzare

    couldnt disagree more.

I think they will be relegated when refs clamp down on them

    Well done Arsenal.

Every Arsenal fan I know is a thoroughly decent skin, and not of the arrogant narcissistic variety you get on social media, which clouds a lot of people's judgement of the fanbase. I'll be honest, I didn't think they had it in them, but that turnaround after the City defeat was exemplary. They ground it out, exactly as they needed to.

    Incredible scenes in London.

And let's be honest, it's good for the League not to have 115 FC win it again.

    Couldn’t disagree more.

I think the club will be put into administration and forced to start back from a non-league position when refs clamp down on them.

More of a George Graham vintage than a Wenger vintage Arsenal title winners. They might loosen up a bit after getting the monkey off the back.

As for the upcoming CL final It will give them confidence v PSG but PSG are a different challenge.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,224 ✭✭✭✭TheCitizen

The PGMO apologised to Forest and admitted an error was made. They probably in their statement tried to not throw the ref under the bus even though it was his error and unusually he didn’t take the advice from VAR. Not sure what you’re trying to disagree about here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,914 ✭✭✭theoneeyedman

The thing is,in my lifetime anyway, Wenger is an outlier in how Arsenal played. Arteta fits the style of Don Howe, Graham better than Wenger. Even Wenger, had a solid back 6 at times (the 4 he inherited with Petit and Viera in front) and speedy skillful lads like Henry and doing the damage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,030 ✭✭✭doc_17

I think it’s a fair comment to say it hasn’t been a great season from a quality of play perspective. VAR keeps getting worse and what’s happening in corners and set pieces is leading to dull games. But these things happen, it’ll turn again. Arsenal were worthy winners, they got the most points and that’s what it’s about.

Southampton being penalised correctly for cheating and all the did was watch a few training sessions. Imagine if city were penalised for years of it, they’d be lucky to be in the national league.
