0% chance of that to be fair.

There will be a minimum of 2 and most likely 3 signed.
What quality / level they are is a different question.

There is a reason why he's not in the Brazil squad, he's a bang average player. Runs around a lot but technically very poor. If hes a summer signing then we are in big trouble next season

Obviously Keane as usual goes way over the top, but I'd agree with the sentiment that the assists thing is embarrassing.

I find it a bit cringy that pundits rarely or never mention that Henry had 24 goals to go along with his 20 assists. Bruno might get the assist record but it will be a bit hollow in my opinion since he will still be miles behind the G+A record.

Its worth celebrating sure, but don't ignore the context to this extent.

They had contract terms agreed with him since March supposedly but seems they've now turned their attention to João Gomes as Atalanta are asking for €45 to €50M for a player with 12months left on his contract.

I'd be more on board with Keanes comments if it was a game that ment anything.
It was a nothing game, and it is clear the players only started looking to push the assists once CL football was secured.
Keane was also wrong, several times, about what Bruno said - which was a key point of the argument.

I do think Henrys stats are more impressive, as it combines goals. Even if Bruno gets to 21, the overall number of goals and assists is far more impressive.

If we go that far then we can say Henry has a hollow record considering Man Utd won the league and he wasn't top scorer that year either.

You can go whatever way you want to look at it but if you want to compare Henry + Bruno there is only 1 winner and it isn't Bruno.

Why do people want to compare a striker and a midfielder for anyway. If it wasn't Bruno who was breaking the record for assists me thinks there wouldn't be much talk about being compared to others etc.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,697 ✭✭✭✭bucketybuck

You should say that to people who dismiss Brunos record because it isn't in a league winning season. But I didn't do that.

I don't even consider it "going far" to note that Henrys record is more impressive because he was also scoring a lot of goals at the same time. Of course it is. Which is why I find it cringe that pundits gloss over it.

Its like lauding somebody for beating Mo Farah/Sifan Hassan's Olympic 5k time by one second, but never mentioning that they had also raced and won the 10k in the same competition. That context matters a lot, it isn't some insignificant thing.

    Yeah fair enough.

I'm probably still a bit scarred from the Fabregas and Frenkie de Jong summers….

Or another way to look at it

Bruno has 8 goals and 20 assists in a team that has scored 66 goals. with 1 game to go.
KDB got 13 goals and 20 assists in a team that scored 102 goals.

Bruno has been a scorer or assisted in 42% of Man Utd's league goals this season.
KDB was just 32% in a team that created and scored a lot more.

What Bruno has done in a far less dominant team is hugely impressive.

Just for the mention of it.

    If we win 1-0 on Sunday, then going by the percentage record under Carrick, if the same percentage record had been for a 38 game season, our record would be;

    P 38 / W 27 / D 7 / L 4 / F 69 / A 40 / GD 29 / PTS 87

Which means we’d finish the league as champions with that record.

It’s not a “what might have been had we gotten rid of Amorim last season” thing.

It’s more a “Carrick and his staff have done an immense job as interim manager” situation.

Title winning form for 17 games (if a 1-0 win comes to pass this Sunday), you can’t ask for more than that from a lad thrown into the deep end.

I guess what I’m saying is thanks to Carrick and his staff for a really good job. It wasn’t pretty at times, but the results for basically a half season don’t lie, it can’t be lucky for 17 games.

Now, let’s take the next step, improve the squad quality and depth smartly, and actually go win it.

not to get into an argument about him again… but I do hope the general narrative around him and our form next season is sensible.

Like I don't think over a normal season he reproduces that win percentage. To be honest if we finsihed next season with the same points as this season, and didn't embarrass ourselves in the cups I think that would be a good season.

I think at the start of this season I said our points target should be ~65 points, and I think next season it should be 70-75 - and then we can look at the game changer(s) needed to bring us to 80+ points and a realistic challenge.

Next season, imo, won't be as good results wise as this last half season was - but in no way would that mean Carrick as failed. And this is tied to people saying Carrick was possibly making it harder for whomever the next guy was, cause anything less than this form would be seen as a step down from what Carrick was producing.

For next season I think the aim needs to be to get to that 18-20 win range as quickly as possible.
That range generally means CL football, that has to be our baseline going forward.

Get to that point and see where you are in the table / how everyone else is doing.
If one of the other is on course for 90 point season I don't think we are staying the course for that sort of pace.

But Arsenal haven't blown away the league this year - they are very functional and could drop off after going the distance in the big 2 this season.

Pep leaving City - you would expect a drop off.

Liverpool sticking with Slot - you would expect that to only go one way. Depends how far into the season before they do sack him.

Chelsea will be under new direction but behind the scenes have an awful lot going on.

Utd could be looking at sacking Carrick by Xmas, who knows.

But I just think all we do now is focus on plugging the squad holes, getting our points on the board and seeing where the land lies in the second half of the season.

Getting into the CL again would be a good season still but in football there is always the unknown of what other will throw up. We can certainly aim to be "best of the rest" and waiting if there is a drop off

I'm not here to run down Bruno's stats, but I would respond that big fish in small ponds always have a greater individual contributions than players surrounded by other great players. In De Bruyne's 20 assist season I count 6 City players that had double figures for assists.

Bruno's total would be higher if he had better strikers ahead of him. But it would be less if both Silvas and Mahrez were beside him and getting the ball.

Solskjaer was "lucky" up till the point he was appointed, unfortunately that will stick in a lot of people's minds.

Bournemouth to beat Liverpool to 5th, City to lose the title, and Spurs go down. Could be a great end to the season.

    Thought this was quite apt

Probably in a minority but I much rather West Ham to go down.

For 1995 was bad but that **** disgrace by their fans in 1998 took biscuit. Not to mention the bus incident few years back.

If your over a certain age I have no idea why you would rather that lot stay up.

I make no apology but I hope they go down and they go down to conference from there.

Yeh very much the minority 😂

I still can't believe we blew the EL final to those bums.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,102 ✭✭✭✭johnnyryan89

Na with Arsenal winning the league it's taken the fun out of laughing at Spurs knowing that lot get to enjoy being champions and laughing at Spurs going down.

West Ham going down means Fernandes leaves and fingers crossed agent Bruno can work some magic and convince him to join.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,782 ✭✭✭Iseedeadpixels

Why Senesi wants to join that **** show of a club I'll never know.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 687 ✭✭✭kyleman

Watching the games we had a lucky escape with Delap and Gallagher not much better.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,821 ✭✭✭Charlie69

Agreed… Spurs are irrelevant to me. Europa league final was our own fault. I’ll never forget 95.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 36,028 ✭✭✭✭The_Kew_Tour

Ya. Dont forget their main fans group once came out and said they rather United not win the league then they win a domestic trophy. Thats going back long time I appreciate.

Actually when they beat us to stay up in 2007 I remember being so cheesed off. I know im petty but dont care ha.

Pep leaving is a weird one. I do get the feeling there is a tsunami coming. There’s a feeling that the people in charge know what’s coming.
