Something Waterford can only dream of,having to make excuses up for such a poor defence of an All-Ireland title.

Galway, Dublin, Cork, Clare and Limerick. There's a very competitive pool there. I wouldn't have Offaly as contenders but if KK get through I'd give them an outside shout.

Hogan Stand always have results up after matches fairly quick. Fixtures too for the week ahead.

If only the GAA would have a 'Livescore/Sofascore' type of app

I find Score Beo to be very good.

They have a few. I used use one that had club games but I think it was self reported so not every club was covered.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 423 ✭✭17togo

Yeah I think score beo is very good to be fair. Gives the scorer, whether it was a from a free or not, and has the clock running too. And the lineups and subs. Not much else you'd need, unless you want to go into the Christy o Connor nitty gritty levels of possessions etc..

Listening to Peter quealy I have to say I agree with him , there is no reason why the Munster championship can't start on the May bank holiday and run through until mid June

The football knockout championship is only starting this week

Probably sounds like sour grapes from me but how good would a proper All Ireland series be

Waterford vs Wexford/Kilkenny on a sunny Saturday evening, Galway vs Tipp etc

Use the Provincials as knockout for speedings etc

Seems to work well in other codes

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,833 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

Sounds shte. It's almost just the old round robin backdoor system all over again.

Why would I give up Limerick vs Cork or Clare every year for Limerick vs Kildare or Wexford.

The Munster championship is the golden goose for the GAA,get rid of that and attendances plummet. The provincials would only be glorified league games then,of no importance

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 43,114 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

There 80% that in the football and attendances didn't go too bad

One of the most annoying things in the GAA is the constant tinkering with or moaning about formats.

Every time a team does sht we have to change the format so people can feel better about themselves.

Waterford were average one again and Tipp and Wexford have been total sht so no they shouldn't get some soft participation medal entry into the All Ireland. It will change nothing other than the name of the round they meekly get beat in.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,595 ✭✭✭giveitholly

I don't think anyone at all from tipp is looking for a soft entry into the All-Ireland series.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,234 ✭✭✭✭castletownman

At least Wexford take their medicine and know they weren't good enough to qualify and must improve.

Anyone that finishes fourth or fifth in Munster ALWAYS seem to blame the system for their travails, couldn't possibly be their own poor form

Whats the Scór covered a lot of games for a while but fell off. Self reported too though, so you'd see updates on U13 C league games from some counties, but nothing about Senior Championship finals in others.

I find Scór Beo very good these days.

Be hard for any County to complain while losing to Westmeath and Antrim...and that still being enough to qualify on occasion.

You do realize football is a much more popular sport?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,833 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

Whatever about hurling you would have some job rejigging the football to make Waterford look good.

If they want the 4th place team in each province to continue I would do it like this.

winners of the Munster and Leinster finals straight into semi finals, plenty of rest and a clear advantage.

Then the next teams play off.

Preliminary quarter finals: third placed teams get home advantage.
    Leinster 3 v Munster 4
    Munster 3 v Leinster 4

    Quarter-finals:

Munster runner up v winner of Leinster 3/Munster 4

Leinster runner up v winner of Munster 3/Leinster 4

The Munster and Leinster runners-up would get home advantage in those quarter finals.

Semi finals draw as per the same way.

If after 4 rounds or hurling, you weren't good enough to make the top 3 in your province, you don't need another round or two to see that point hammered home.

And I say that as a Tipp man.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,176 ✭✭✭robbiezero

Certainly not. We Tipp fans absolutely do not want the torture another round of absolute scutter performance inflicted on us. Let us finish up 2026 as soon as possible and let's see what we can pull together for 2027.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,833 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

Well done. You have just taken almost all the jeopardy out of the round robin. Tipp could lose on Sunday and themselves or Waterford would qualify with 1 point. That's grand for a Cul camp tournament but pure soft namby pamby shte for a high level tournament.

Definitely wont be any refereeing controversies next weekend in the battle for Munster final places. A Cork ref for Limerick v Tipp and a Limerick ref for Cork v Clare.

I actually think the Leinster teams have the most grievance with current system as they have a lack of quality games and crowds compared to Munster. Iron sharpens iron and big crowds bring big money which is also as important.

IMO the Only thing worth replacing what's there is an 8 team All Ireland round robin. 4 teams into Semis. 2 into relegation play off. Keeps jeopardy and everyone is hurling into late June. Provincials become straight knock out warm ups and replace the league. And most importantly you get Tipp vrs KK every year. As a neutral, this is one of hurlings greatest rivalries.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,177 ✭✭✭RoyalCelt

It's not Munster teams fault Leinster county fans don't bother following the hurling. KK/WX/Galway should be bringing 10-15k per match and Dublin with a massive population 30-50k but they're miles off.

I think its a joke that these teams are out of action before we even get to summer. Im a clareman and it was the same last year for us. Its no better than the old days of getting knocked out after one game. This is the pinnicle of the game and these top teams and players should be competing all summer ffs. They want to grow the game do they? Imagine kids in waterford or tipp now, couldnt give a **** now that their teams are done in what seems like the middle of winter weather wise.

    Sort it out GAA!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 526 ✭✭✭Iecrawfc

But kids can see their team play at least 4 championship games, its just earlier in the year. They also can see their local clubs play 4-5 quality games. If you move it back to May and June that spills over into the club season and effects 99% of club players.

Is it not far better now for the kids? The matches on while they are still at school rather than middle of the summer.
