Not for anyone I know of. They're mostly BYD and MG owners though.

Is this the beginning of a myth like the "Japanese imports are hard to insure" nonsense?

Most them brands mentioned can’t be bought here I would say for the most part? And potentially tough insure as they have no Irish data on them.

The issue will be that the insurers know or believe parts are hard to come by to fix these in the event of an accident and so would be a nightmare to manage in their claims process.

No, it just means the car would be easier written off than others. And that's the insurance company's problem not mine.

The issue is with new brands, the likes of the Tesla, Leaf and ID3/4 have been around for a while so there's good data on them. It's also down to individual insurers here and how they are legally allowed to pick and choose what cars they insure, Outsurance for example don't insure the vast majority of cars from what I can tell

    #MEGA MAKE EUROPE GREAT AGAIN

I got a decent quote on a SMART some months ago - didn’t need to use it at the time but it’s reassured me that decent value awaits when renewing later this year - and two fingers up to my current insurers who charged me an additional 150 euro for the remaining 7 months when I changed to the EV from my ICE - I will wipe my ass with your quote when it arrives in August
