Hi all, please see this major site announcement: https://www.boards.ie/discussion/2058427594/boards-ie-2026

if you have one of these installed FOC approx 7 years ago by either ESB or SEAI, it appears can be upgrade to operate at higher speed

You need to get your electrician to check some basics

    Cable is 6 mm²

    and

    It’s wired on a 32A circuit

there may be other considerations, so please confirm with electrician

From what I have read dip switches can be switched assuming your cabling etc is in order

These are non smart units, ie cannot communicate with solar panels , inverter etc, firmware cannot be updated

However if you car has a charge timer, car can control when charge starts and finishes

Yep this has been covered here previously and you can pick these up really cheap or even free. Lots of them abandoned by folks upgrading to smart wallboxes that can handle solar etc.

well known that it’s upgradable to 32a.
I done my own over 10 years ago.

I still have the program, files, instructions on how to do it for anyone that wants to take it on.

It’s not as simple as flicking a few dip switches. You need a program, laptop and a specific connector to flip the charger into 32a mode.

I also have the gear to upgrade these and have done it to two units. As mentioned you need a laptop, software and an interface

Yep did mine as soon as it was installed about a decade ago. Long since forgot though and I sold the free charge point for €220 at some stage 😂
