Shame the fans on the pitch meant there is no final whistle.

A fourth Title for O'Neill, with the 3rd one being only 21 years ago.

No, his first title was in 2011/12, this is his 14th!

I think the commentary mentioned earlier that a league win today would make him the most decorated player in British football?

27 league and cup wins combined I think after today, maybe another soon.

I thought so but it would of been a nice stat. I remember thinking he was a good cheap replacement for mcgeady when he went to Russia or ukraine

Some horrible carry on tainting this somewhat but what a job by MON, someone I couldn't stand by the end of his ireland tenure!

It was an incredible act of self sabotage appointing Wilfied Nancy....

Martin O'Neill and lets not forget Shaun Maloney have done an incredible job....

Magical, a fairytale ending to a nightmare of a season

    I love Daizen

A great ending to the season. And again var called the correct decision..

I thought it would have been better for Hearts has they needed to win, because only needing the draw sometimes makes you play within yourself. I think that happened today, they were happy to sit with everyone behind the ball.

As for the pitch invasion, I hate them. But they are hard to stop. I don't mind young kids as much, but the invasions now are fully grown men who should know better, looking for selfies with players. Grow up you fools. And I saw Shankland holding his mouth and spitting out, as if he got a slap. I hope these reports of player assaults aren't true, because it they are they are very damaging. If they did happen, I hope CCTV is used to catch any culprits and bring them to court.

What a day of football. And Celtic didn't even play well.

    And breathe.

what a title win. So delighted for MON especially.

Hopefully that title win will bring back some harmony to the club and we can start looking forward to the future and making a better effort at maximising the club’s potential. A huge summer ahead with transfers in and out of the club and maybe a new manager as well and we don’t really have the structure or personnel in place at the club for that task.

For today though we can celebrate and hopefully complete the double against Neil Lennon’s Dunfermline team next week. A remarkable season we won the last 7 league games in a row (a record itself IIRC) and lifted the title despite losing 8 games. MON aged 74 came in with Maloney and Fotheringham did a great job galvanising the players, shutting down all the noise from within and without the club and delivering a great title triumph. Hail Hail.

I hope Sarracchi is signed for standing up to Shankland alone. Eejit throwing his toys outta the pram and Sarracchi having none of it.

I watched it back on Sportscene this evening and I could not believe we give the top striker for Hearts a free header at the back post, what kind of marking was that?

I agree with pjohnson above about Sarrachi

watching sport scene on YouTube here as well. Maeda’s goal. People complain about VAR but imagine what a travesty it would have been if that offside stood which it would have without VAR.

It wasn’t even close to offside. An horrendous call from the assistant referee to flag that. He was flagging Maeda but Osmand went beyond him to pass it back to him. Thank Ghod VAR was there to correct that one.

Definitely, those offside decisions were normal against Celtic pre VAR and we were expected to suck it up

Great drama but shameful scene at the end, with another ground security shambles allowed Hearts players to be accosted. Glad to see that this was acknowledged by the great man Martin O'Neill.

He is exactly the quality level we should be signing. Given the number of games we play in a season being typically 60 or more there is plenty of games to go round. Of course under dictator Desmond we recently heard we are interested in signing Sarrachi but we need to wait on a new manager first and this only days after giving new contracts to Forrest and McCowan. Risible.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,224 ✭✭✭✭TheCitizen

I think it was a mistake? Hard to believe right enough and It’s alarming that an experienced assistant ref would flag that because Maeda was offside when the ball was put through to Osmand but is obviously back onside when Osmand crosses it back to him.

VAR has its problems but on balance I’m in favour of it because of something like that today.

    Great day today. Still buzzing.

MON resisted going 3-5-2 all season which was what a lot of supporters wanted. When he went 3-5-2 it worked. If MON is there next season 3-5-2 might be back more often. You could play Saracchi and Tierney in a 3-5-2.

Not sure I had even fully recovered from Wednesday evening when I sat down for todays game but wow what a final 10 minutes or so after a nerve wracking first 80 minutes. Deserved win on the day and fitting that we won the title on a late winning goal and equally fitting for me that it was Maeda that got it. His return to form has been the spark that has been the key to us pulling off this remarkable title win. 8 goals in his last 6 games and hopefully some more to come next week in the cup final. But today well this is definitely one to savour.
