I might be one of them. Although I don’t think I know about professional sport 🤔

I felt I was a bit more forgiving of this season considering everything that happened but it really doesn’t matter what I think at the end of the day. Part of me would be interested to see if Slot can come back from this but it’s just too toxic now and it’s best we get someone else in.

I don’t think we lose that game if we have some strikers

If all the journos are repeating the exact same thing at the exact same time, it's because they're being told to say that. It's the narrative that the club want to be put out into the public and they are the mouthpiece.

It's not the work of a single journo doing some proper journo work with an inside line somewhere such as a club representive or an agent etc.

Lads we where beaten 7-2 here the following season after winning the league under Klopp.

There is no saving grace or silver lining.

You cant blame injuries when every aspect is bad. Subs should be fresher. Ability to press and work hard.

    Tactically bad.

    Defensively bad.

    Attacking bad.

    Fitness bad.

    Workrate bad.

    Set piece bad.

    Use of squad bad.

    Attitude bad.

    Form bad.

I am aware I tend to only comment when we do really bad, but I suppose venting is more fun than praise so that's my problem.

This is proper bad though. After everything we got in the week about Alonso and how safe his job is and how there's no chance he's sacked... to see this? The worst performance of the season by far simply because the playera looked so pathetically angry. Mac play acting before the third goal, Konate making a pathetic attempt to try and get Watkins sent off. It was embarrassing. The players just don't enjoy anything about this anymore

    No I don't, as I already said.

That doesn't mean they have any intention of sacking him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,595 ✭✭✭giveitholly

And it doesn't mean they have any intention of keeping him either.

If we lose to Brentford, we'll finish on one more point than the Hodgson season.

    After winning the League.

    And £450m.

Does everyone realise how utterly mental that is?

I heard he stopped answering questions and started playing "We're going to Ibiza" by The Vengaboys on his phone obnoxiously loud

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,535 ✭✭✭brevity

if you are going to ignore the obvious reasons as to why this season might have gone the way it went then it’s also mental.

I personally think the media line about Slot having full support from owners into next season is lip service bullshit. There’s no improvement. No buy in from players. You can see the spirit of the squad is on the floor. Slot isn’t getting anywhere near the best out of what FSG paid half a billion for. It’s that simple. Slot is way in over his head and that been obvious since November. There is no future in this.

I’ve no clue the plan here but FSG are no fools and I just can’t believe that they think Slot should be at the healm next season. It’s madness.

This looks to be our squad for next season as things stand? Things have devolved very, very quickly indeed.

We'll have Jacquet in at CB as well. And tbh I don't think Alisson will actually be let go (or at least I very much hope he stays!).

On the other hand, I'd be surprised if Elliott or Chiesa are still there. And of course poor auld Ekitike is basically a write-off for the whole season. A lot of work to do alright.

Are you suggesting that even accounting fot injuries and a certain amount of player turnover in the summer, that this season has been in any way acceptable?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,535 ✭✭✭brevity

Jones and MacAllister might both be gone too.

Need a DM, a CM, two wingers and some squad players.

The succession planning has not been good

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,563 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

Goalkeeper should save the first, Sobo slip gifted the second, Chiesa forgets to get out from the corner, Kerkez stands 9 ft off McGinn , McGinn actually takes a few touches, closes gap to 5ft then shoots

    All schoolboy stuff. Comical

Agree Elliot and Chiesa probably going. Elliot would be an excellent squad player, but he has been treated poorly. He was needed this season and is a very good player. Still irritated with the short signtedness in how he was treated, likewise letting Quansah and Kelliher go

[I know Kelliher wanted first team football for some time, but I won't hear different that it was poor man/squad management, and succession planning - he's far superior to Mamardashvili].

Konate could be tempted away. He is a good player but never has a solid midfield ahead of him, or a reliable RB. Himself and Van Dijk have been firefighting all season.

I also wouldn't be surprised if a big club came in to turn Szoboslai's head. I know he is said to be captain material and he is an excellent player, but he let himself down moaning and gesticulating to the crowd after another **** Liverpool performance - he has things to learn.

The squad is so painfully thin right now. Lightweight up front, and lacking leaders throughout. A shocking state of affairs really, I can't believe how quickly the team has disintegrated.

Yeah, to be fair he fully accepted how awful it was, and how awful the season's been. No real sugar coating it. Too many conceded, not enough scored. The works.

Great.....if only he was in some sort of position where he could influence this in some way.....

Should be an exit interview !

Not that I'd listen to much of what Stan has to say about most things, but that last observation offers surprising clarity

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,078 ✭✭✭SodiumCooled

Watkins absolutely should have been sent off for either his second kicking the ball away or throwing konate to the ground (not sure where you are seeing the pathetic part). McGinn should also have been sent off should have easily had a yellow in the first half and the kicking kerkez twice.

What I do find funny though is this amazing season villa are having and how truly awful ours is yet we still have a good chance of finishing ahead of them. I hope they are battered in the EL final too.

Clutching at straws. Liverpool comprehensively outfought and outplayed.

We could be relying on United to take points off Brighton in order to get CL next season, that's how bad things have become and there are still some who think Slot should be kept next season, absolute insanity. If FSG do somehow decide to keep Slot, then they deserve the absolute shitshow that next season will devolve into as there's no way Slot is turning this around. At this point virtually anyone else will do!

it’s been atrocious from beginning to end and I am glad it’s coming to and end. I’m just staggered that it’s come to this. This time last year we were singing his praises and maybe I’m a fool for thinking that it’s not all his fault or that it wasn’t just Salah that got us no 20 and Slot is Rodgers without the Gerrard slip..

I dunno…I find it all so disappointing

I hope to god Allison stays. We can't afford to let players like Konate, Jones, Elliot, Mac Allister, or Tsimikas to go.

We can't afford to let anyone go! And we need huge investment again, at least as much as last year.
