Tommy Roddy has stopped looking at his Cheapest Oil app and started watching the Eurovision instead

One and done. A shambles, 3 minutes of a caller saying unlimited inflow of migrants into the country is great, no drawbacks.

Now it's moved on to Eurovision.

    Funky Friday from the George

Today's show has gotten worse as it's gone on. Thankfully it's almost over.

Live from The George next Friday. Tickets available the LiveLine website. A Funny Friday so to speak.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,062 ✭✭✭amlinopta

A token couple of minutes on The Congo comments. Followed by Eurovision and a plug for Friday’s outside broadcast from The George. What a farce

I think a lot more people would agree with bertie and allowing unlimited access to the country than those in Leinster House realise. Sadly we won't get that conversation going on live line.

You know yerself the way you'd be after 30 or 40 or fifty previous convictions, well you don't mind adding on another one, you know what I mean?

Yes it is. But will it be reflected in tomorrows latest JNLR results?

I'd say there's a good chance it will. Liveline is a bland and underwhelming programme these days.

Of course it was bad before this host started, just bad in a different way.

Back around 2009 Joe got in hot water for almost triggering a run on the banks. At least, back in those days he was talking about relevant things. A bit like a cat I used to own Joe was taken to the vets and his uh-hums chopped off. Since then he wasn't allowed talk about any controversial topics.

After Joe's trip to the vet, the program became bad but still entertaining. Today, and by today I mean recent Livelines, it's just bad.

Why are they doing a Funny Friday from the george. I know they are forty, but so are many other businesses around the country

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 3,878 ✭✭✭Dublin Calling

But caller, those business are not extruding maximum woke. It is not as if they are going to have a broadcast from the Royal Saint George Yacht Club when it celebrates 200 years.

Meanwhile do you remember 20 years ago when Joe covered this:

Will Kieran be covering the late drama of the SPL tonight? Celtic win the game after a VAR review gives them a penalty for handball with the last play of the game. 3-2. What an end to the game. It changes everything on the last day of the season, Celtic still need to win. But it will be "easier" than had they not won tonight.

Speaking of penalties, the Munster U20 hurling final went to penalties after extra-time. The Clare goalkeeper was on fire saving 3 penalties and scoring one. His final and winning save was spectacular.

"RTÉ bosses insist ‘no one is panicking’ after the latest radio figures revealed thousands of listeners have switched off across every show on Radio 1 since the station overhauled its weekday schedule last November.

The latest JNLR figures show David McCullagh’s morning show took the biggest hit, losing 17,000 listeners since the last quarter. He now broadcasts to 423,000 daily.

Morning Ireland lost 15,000 listeners but remains the station’s biggest draw at 452,000 daily, while Kieran Cuddihy, who took over Liveline from Joe Duffy, lost 12,000 listeners and now hosts the show to an audience of 268,000.

Oliver Callan dropped 12,000 listeners to 296,000, while Louise Duffy, who replaced Ray D’Arcy, lost 13,000 and now has 145,000 tuning in daily. Drivetime lost 7,000 listeners, dropping to 211,000, and News at One shed 4,000 to sit at 275,000."

    From Xtra.ie

Kieran and the rest of them have a bit of work to do…

    but there's no panic.

Has the listenership for Newstalk from 6-7 shot up much?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 3,878 ✭✭✭Dublin Calling

Are there no great, fantastic and fan dibi dozi JNLR figures for RTE at all?

The figures as a percentage drop are more striking. Louise Duffy has lost almost 10% of Ray D'Arcy's audience. That is seriously drop, that in a normal organisation would but Patricia's management under scrutiny.

Yeah, that's probably the most embarrassing of all, performing worse than Ray frikken Darcy.

Shows at the wrong times INHO. Louise was grand in Ronan’s 12-1 slot. They’re now having her do stupid interviews as well.

McCullough is good. He needs a longer show but later. Anyone listening at work is likely busy around the 9-11 period. Maybe the same in other settings. Get rid of Callan. It’s a terrible show. Hannon and O’Heara is it later in the day is harmless. Maybe give that show more gravitas.

Those 3 animals are thugs of the lowest order. Cowards as well. I'd lock them up for life and throw away the key.

I moved to BBC4 when Drivetime changes to a sports program. I don't know what I'll do when the LW transmitters are turned off.

This topic is not going to attract back too many listeners.
