    hi all,

I purchased a cantilever pergola off Harvey Norman on 27/4/26.

The package arrived damaged on 5/5/26 (so 8 days from purchasing to receiving package)

I informed Harvey Norman, filled out the form and arranged UPS to come back and collect the package free of charge, which they did on 11/5/26

Harvey Norman are saying they cant refund the package until it arrives back in the "suppliers warehouse" in the Netherlands (I didnt know this was being shipped from the Netherlands).

I presume the supplier wants to inspect the damaged parasol or something.

It will then take a further 3-5 days for the refund to appear in my bank account.

So im wondering, do i have to wait for the package to arrive in the netherlands before HN refund the cost of the damaged parasol? I mean i purchased it from HN and I've sent them proof its damaged (photos), so surely HN should refund this straight away?

    Maybe im wrong here?

Seems like a fairly common practice to be honest. There is nothing stopping you from putting an old one back in the box and sending it back as faulty/damaged. I would imagine that HN want to make sure they get it back before they send a refund. Amazon and most other places I know have a similar procedure for dealing with returns.
