The latest beta version of Solar Assistant now allows power management using the time slot on the Solis. It does this locally not using the Solis API.

Lads, what am I doing wrong? I've set 2 schedules, the first from 00:01 to prevent the house battery being used when the car is charging. The second to charge back up a bit between 4 and 5.

    image.png image.png

But the battery continues getting used after 00:00 and never charges back up from the grid. It's only getting charged from the panels.

    Allow Grid Charging is enabled.

    Thanks.

Can you share a snip of what is happening with grid load and battery load? Ie the graph on the main inverter page. See below.

I'm open to correction here but my understanding of what will happen with charge slot one, is it will allow discharge of the battery to the house load if required. So in this case it will discharge to the EV to 22%

Would a discharge slot work setting the output to 0A?

    Charge slot 2 looks fine.

I charge my battery the same time the car is charging so it can't charge & discharge at the same time.

@micks_address where is the 135A coming from? Is the rectifier communicating with the inverter?

Thanks, I've changed the 0 Amp charge slot to a discharge slot instead. Will see if that makes any difference.

The car is definitely charging solely from the house battery until it hits 20%

Thanks, not sure why my charge slot at least isn't working and getting something into the battery. Are there any other inverter settings I should check? Or do I need to take it up with the installer? It's a recent install so is it possible something isn't correctly connected?

I would expect the installer to set up your battery charging for sure so I'd ask them

    Nearly there :)

It looks like there's some kind of reset taking place for the Daily Export counter that's not aligned with 00:00

The time it gets reset is exactly the same every day, 16:45.

Does anyone know if there's a setting on the inverter/datalogger that i can set to fix this?

    Hi,
I have a Solis inverter and im relatively new to all things solar.
I currently have it set up to Feed in Priority to power the house load, export to grid and then send excess to the battery.

I want it to send the maxmium allowed to the grid (5.5 KW ?) and then any excess to go towards charging the battery. However I have noticed the maxmium does not go to the grid, a portion still goes to charging the battery continually until it is full. This is causing clipping especially during peak sun hours.

Is there a setting I need to update to ensure the full 5.5 KW goes to the grid before battery charging starts. See image.

    Many thanks.

The maximum AC output of the inverter is 5.5kw ish......voltage depending. If your house requires load it will come from here. In your screenshot your AC output is 5.3kw which is probably the limit. To see the full output go to the grid the house load would need to be zero.

    Hope this makes sense.

Yes that makes sense, thank you.
I thought the limit to export was set by ESB networks to 5.5kw.

But instead it is the inverter limit? Between the house load and grid export it cant not exceed 5.5kw in total?

I've solved this and in so doing, also solved my problem of ineffective scheduled charging/discharging.

The time on the inverter was 7 hours and 15 minutes ahead. The reset that I could see for daily export and other cumulative daily counters, was taking place at 16:45 when the inverter thought it was midnight.

This also affected the schedules because they were firing over 7 hours too early.

It looks like the data set from the inverter gets timestamped by Solis Cloud, which helped mask the problem.

I corrected the time setting here in case anyone else the same problem.

The limit from the ESB is 25 amps on the inverter size. Which is about 5.75kW, on the nc6

The nc6 is limit on inverter size, not export

But inverters don't come in that size, usually whole numbers eg 5.

The most power that can leave your inverter is 5kW, so it's working exactly as intended.

I'll add to this anyone who runs Solis needs to definitely check the time on their inverter at least once every couple of months or run a scrip on HA to check and adjust. The Solis will drift by as much as +or- 2-5mins, which if you are running the charge times to the limit ie 02:01 to 04:59 could make a difference.

Hi - I am getting a 1055 - No Battery alarm. Waiting for my installer to get back to me, but has anyone had this or is there anything to try? Thanks.

do you have a script for HA you could share? i set mine when the clocks changed and checked last week and it was already 5 minutes off.. gas its clock is so off.. i have the two ha integrations.. solis inverter and solis cloud control integration

    alias: Solis Sync Inverter Time
    sequence:
      - data:
          register: 43000
          values: "{{ now().strftime(\"%y %m %d %H %M %S\").split() }}"
        alias: Sync localtime
        enabled: true
        action: solarman.write_multiple_holding_registers
    mode: single
    icon: mdi:timer-sync

Not familiar with those integrations, but I use this to write to the time modbus registers. I run the script nightly before the EV rate kicks in and all is good.

funnily enough i had something like this the other day.

i had to turn off everything and turn it back on again. Battery goes on first then inverter. rebooted and then was ok afterwards.

Thanks, after a bit googling yesterday I did that and it came back online.

I have just noticed on the app that I am getting the same warning again at the same time 5.30 am. I will check later when I am home but the battery trip switch had tripped yesterday.

    I'm getting these alarms occasionally.

    1010. OV-G-V

    Over grid voltage?

Anything I need to to do with this? It's only a warning and doesn't trip the switch. Recovers itself.

Last year I was getting this below on occasion but they seem to have stopped this year. This one did trip the switch.

Has anyone near you gotten solar installed?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,009 ✭✭✭Dr Robert

One of the neighbours has alright

I usually set my charge and discharge times from the Solis app.
since the 24th of May when I set my discharge times ( usually 10 pm to 1:30am). and save it all is good .
however when I check the next morning all save discharge times are off and default . And it hasn’t discharged .
if i set a discharge time of 10:30 pm minutes before ie 10:25pm. It will discharge no problem
so some how it seems to be overwritten as if AI is doing it .

Any ideas . It’s very frustrating to have to keep checking this every evening .

Any schedules that are set via the App get pushed to the inverter. You should get a confirmation code in a pop up window.

I've seen other posters say that updating the firmware on the inverter will reset all charge and discharge times. That's the only thing I can think of. Unless the inverter is somehow getting power cycled every night?

Is the correct timezone set in 'plant' and is DST set also?

I’ll check the time zones . I’ve logged a ticket with Solis . Even when they set the discharge times the system then removes them .

Solis maxing OUT at 5.2 kWh when clipping , Before it was 5.7 kWh , Any Ideas how to get it back to 5.7 ?
