    Hi,

Recently my HKC Securewatch has developed intermittant issue.

When set the alarm starts beeping a few hours later, the beeps sound like the beeps when you open the front door before turning off the alarm. No errors show on the display. When the user code is entered it gives the usual "alarm unset" message. It doesn't happen every night and as there is always someone in the house during the day , the alarm would not be used daytime.

Wonder if anyone has come across this issue before?

When you unset the system and look at the display, does it show what the event was?

No, audio message ("system unset") normal display, no errors or events. Its as if the door was opened (which it's not).

Could it be faulty srnsor or contact?

There is a shock sensor and separate contact on door frame with the magnetic contact mounted on edge of the door.

All were fitted new when new door was fitted 7 or 8 years ago.

You only get the audio, System Unset, after entering your code on the Securewatch panel but the display should show what the event was after the system unset audio message.

If the alarm is not set, then it would beep, to indicate a fault. Like when the electricity goes and when you enter your code you would get the system unset audio and it should display mains fault that caused the event.

If the system is set, and the entry timer on an entry zone timed out, you would get an entry fault after the entry time elapsed and it should set off the alarm.

Im wondering if you have an tamper issue that is causing the beeping or is the system set when this happens?

    Hi Altor,

It only happens when the system is set. It's random in that it might happen several nights or perhaps not for a week or so. There's no pattern that I can see.

When the beeps start, I do hop out of bed and enter the user code to unset the system. No message or error shows on the display. It is as if the front door was opened, the entry beeps sound and I turn off system before there is an activation. Because it occurs at night, I'm not willing to wait and see what happens if I don't unset the system!

It must be the sensor on the door so.

It could be either the sock or the contact, only way of knowing is to check with a multimeter.

Having a similar issue recently! The beeps are like a dying smoke alarm but it's not one of them…

Can happen in the exactly the same pattern as you describe but it just stops by itself. I dont unset the alarm.

Very odd. What model HKC do you have?
