Yeah 6am here so that’s a 10am start local time I think ?….wonder why it’s not an afternoon start, give people here and Italy a better opportunity to tune in.. not a weather thing as the temps in Dubai are far from extreme, highs just early 20’s… wonder did both team miss a trick there, start getting people at home involved and more interested before the tournament starts….

Made the target with 3 balls to spare, 119/7. Dont think its possible to read much more into that match than good to get a game under the beelt with a win

A good bit of news over the past few weeks in Irish cricket.

Sarah Keane has officially started at the CEO of Cricket Ireland.

Paul Stirling has stepped down as captain of the T20 side. He will continue to the lead the ODI team.

Also fixtures for the summer have confirmed:
4-day test match against New Zealand in Stormont on the dates of May 27-30

Two T20 games will be held against India on June 26 and June 28, also in Stormont. Potentially a good chance to make a bit of money with the Indian diaspora surely filling up the grounds.

Five ODI's against Afghanistan. Two in Bready on August 5 and 7 and then three in Stormont on August 10, 12 and 15.

No fixtures scheduled down south and a mooted series with Bangladesh hasn't happened.

The women's fixtures are a T20 tri-series with the West Indies and Pakistan from May 28-June 3 in Clontarf ahead of the Women's T20 World Cup in England from June 12-July 5.

After that they have a 3 game ODI series with the West Indies in Bready on 10, 12 & 15 July. Finally they play 3 ODI games in England on September 5, 7 and 10.

And none of it good news.

11 days cricket for mens national team, with no games in Dublin. Realistically 2 of the limited overs games will be rained off. The test match could very easily be over on day 3. Not exactly a summer to get excited about.

No other sporting body on the planet is as allergic to actually playing their sport than CI is. It's mind blowing how that they think this is an acceptable summer schedule. Even more baffling is why a full member would be so enthusiastic with signing deals with associate nations. Im all for helping out associates but by the sounds of the announcement, the associates are doing us the favours.

Full Membership worked our superbly. We play less cricket and are still reliant on games with associates

I guess they lost money on the Dublin matches last season? Surely one of the Afghan matches could be held in Dublin?

Does the north have sufficient fans to sell out all those matches?

Can they not use Clontarf for at least one Afghan game?

They say that putting in the stands etc at Malahide is very expensive.

This Guardian article from last September is interesting

Tickets for all the summer games on sale today.

£80 for a 4 day pass for the New Zealand test is great value.

£55 to see India less so.

Jack Carson having a game to remember at the Oval against Surrey. Maiden first class hundred at number nine and then takes four wickets. Armagh born but wants to play for England. 25 years old I don't know is even on their radar at all. No Lions squads or anything. Be more than a handy option to have if he could be got on board.

New Zealand named their test squad last week to face Ireland and England over the next month.

Tom Latham (c), Tom Blundell (wk), Devon Conway, Zak Foulkes, Dean Foxcroft, Matt Henry, Kyle Jamieson, Daryl Mitchell, Henry Nicholls, Will O'Rourke, Glenn Phillips, Rachin Ravindra, Nathan Smith, Blair Tickner, Kane Williamson, Kristian Clarke, Michael Rae, Will Young, Ben Sears

The final four names in list are only for the Ireland test match as Henry, Foulkes, Jamieson, Ravindra and Phillips may all miss the Ireland game due to their IPL commitments.
