Supply chains in Asia starting to buckle. The price of Naphtha has doubled since March and Asia imported 70% of it from the Gulf.

Plastic goods in Taiwan surging by up to 40% already and Trump is still ruling out the increasing number of calls to limit exports of oil and refined products, in order to limit price increases at home ahead of the holiday season.

"To ally with great powers to defeat your neighbour is a strategic trap; if you win, you become the slave of the greater power; if the allied power is defeated, you remain alone and defenceless against the angry neighbour, and you are destroyed." - Niccolò Machiavelli

which should tell you something about how bad the current regime is when Iranians are chanting for the Shah and death to Khameni (which they now got)

It's not the problem with the argument, it's a recognition the problem is intractable.

People are defending what Trump and Israel are doing because Iranian oppresses its own citizens. As if we should take it for granted it will somehow help the Iranian people.

The remedy is not obvious. First do no harm. So yeah, doing nothing is better than making a bad situation worse.
Are Iranian's lives better now than when Trump stuck his oar in?

Doing nothing is certainly better than going in and killing school girls, giving false hope to those opposed to the regime, and putting Iranian's backs up against the wall so the choice is a repressive government or chaos driven by external bad faith actors.

What Trump is doing, given it is for his own corrupt ends, is likely to end up far worse for Iran than Iraq for all the reasons outlined.
And in Afghanistan, despite the trillions poured in, despite the lives lost by NATO forces, is it better for the Afghan people?

Iraq today is better than under Saddam, but that neatly skips over what it took to get here.

Because the Trump admin and Israel's intentions have nothing to do with the people of Iran. They don't give the people of that county a second thought. Their ambitions within the region lay elsewhere and hiding behind fake concerns about the regime over there isn't going to fool anyone.

I guarantee you this, if the Ayatollah leadership was more favourable to both US and Israeli desires, irrespective of how badly they treat their own people, none of this nonsense would be happening right now.

Expect the usual Friday evening 'peace' announcement. Another clear insider trade of around 920 million short at 2.30. Something is afoot.

I don't think so, he Taco'd on Tuesday so he has to escalate things. Probably another threat to obliterate Iran. Anyways the markets will tell us before any tweet or announcement.

About 200 police killed, us/ Mossad admitted to arming people to infiltrate the protests and total deaths 3,117. Horrific.

None of the above justifies Us/ Israel subsequent war crimes.

Didn't he post something this morning regarding the ceasefire and the discussions like ' you'll know if the talks don't work out, you'll see a bright glow in the sky '. The man is just not Presidential material and is a bully with a huge lack of brain power.

It is estimated that there were 30,000 children murdered in Gaza too. Many still under the rubble. Does it matter how many were girls ?

When the likes of John Bolton, Pompeo, Lindsey Graham, Trump and Netanyahu all read from the same script, you know for sure it is another fake narrative set up for the supporters of these far right regimes to parrot constantly.

Reports from the NY Times and Times of Israel that Russia is supplying Iran through a corridor in the Caspian Sea.

Also reports yesterday that the CIA is now saying that Iran still has 75% of its missile launchers. Iran mockingly tweeted that they have 120%.

You'd wonder at these reports sometimes. The Russians stuck in a rut in ukraine, still supplying Iran?

Id well believe that Iran has huge capabilities re rocket launchers. How in hell could the Americans cover all bases in Iran given its size.

Both superpowers seem out of their depth with the wars they've started and incapable of victory. The US even with support of its mid east allies slinking helplessly along with some sort of pretence they're in control. Both superpowers are being show up as being a lot less powerful than they would have previously thought themselves.

I also note Trump and Putin are now using the same language about their ill-fated 'military operations' - i.e. they'll be 'over soon'.

Iran's whole thing was building bunkers/tunnels to hunker down and weather any attack. They have like 30 missile cities, some of them are huge.

There's no doubt a lot of their stuff was hit, but anything that could be moved into a tunnel ahead of the attacks surely was.

The missile cities are also factories so they'll have been making and repairing stuff 24/7 since the initial attacks.

I dont see Russia as a superpower today. It's a client of China.

And regime change is a no no.So the regime remains in charge of its own hostage population with the added benefit of a genuine US ogre to deflect and a newly found source of leverage and income in its "troll under the bridge" role at the Straits of Hormuz, along the coast and with its allies in Yemen.

Can the US not just exchange the Orange-Stain -as a token of good faith -for some concession regarding the Iranian population? (he couldn't take his pile of cryptoshit with him ,though)

Huge natural resources and biggest nuclear arsenal on earth. I think that qualifies them as a superpower in todays world.

Iran responded to the US proposal a few hours ago via Pakistan, no details what was in it yet, following that Trump has just made a long winded social media post.

India's leader Modi urged the public today to start taking action to reduce consumption of energy products and try to buy local goods to protect the states FX reserves. Also he urged for fertilizer usage to be reduced by 50%.

Fascinating to hear one of the leading proponents of the Israel first and the entire US neoconservatism foreign policy establishment since the mid 90's accept what the reality of situation actually appears to be.

That's a very well written article. I said it before, nobody will trust the USA for many years to come and the Iranian regime will be stronger than ever with control over the world's oil prices. It has been an unmitigated disaster strategically for the USA.

"As many Iran experts have noted, the regime in Tehran currently stands to emerge from the crisis much stronger than it was before the war, having not only retained its potential nuclear capacity but also gained control of an even more effective weapon: the ability to hold the global energy market hostage. When the Iranians talk of “reopening” the strait, they still mean to keep the strait under their control. Iran will be able not only to demand tolls for passage, but to limit transit to those nations with which it has good relations."

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?
