Any of the Clonmel Councillors there? And did any of them speak if they were?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,470 ✭✭✭pooch90

Michael Murphy and Mattie were there. Not sure if any of the Clonmel councillors attended but I don't think so. They should have kept Mattie well away as his stance on other animal cruelty "pursuits" is well documented. Any excuse for a photo though.

Isn't it odd that not one of them was available?

Are they afraid for themselves or not interested?

The same fcukers would turn up to the opening of a bag of crisps anytime.

multiple speakers on the day said they had previously been threatened by the travelers by raising animal welfare issues .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 711 ✭✭✭Woodcutting

Wouldn't defend Mattie but they are all pro other cruelty like coursing because there's money in it and none of them have the balls to go against money or the business community .

If the travellers were raising money for the business community no one would say a word. Not defending the travellers just saying all these politicians will say whatever suits them. They won't go against the system except in their pretend disagreements.

    Headline on Tipp
Fm this morning . Traveler local horses association that the Clonmel animal welfare march was an anti traveler march !! This is the nonsense we have to put up with and it should be called out .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,616 ✭✭✭Vizzy

I presume that the membership of this association have supplied their names, addresses, insurance details and chip numbers for their horses.

They are still racing the horses as of this morning. I was nearly run off the Wood Road at about 10.30am

I listened to Tipp fm and thought the man spoke well and made some very valid points but the fact still remains that some people are still doing it recklessly regardless of any marches and he can't police them so I really don't know where it's going to go from here. We all know the laws but some still choose to blatantly disregard them on the open road. Whatever about keeping horses as a hobby it's not like they need a sulky as their only form of transport to get to work.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,455 ✭✭✭newhouse87

If they bring in 16 and above law to drive sulkys as Jimmy Delaney suggested today, simple to implement, driver has to have id on person and if they don't or are underage, take the horse. After a few horses have been taken im sure traveller mammy and daddys would make sure their children would start abiding this law a bit better.

Its already illegal for a person under 16 to licence a horse, so all the horses that are currently out there are licenced by older people(if they are licenced).

    The majority of incidents with sulkies are with these older drivers and if an incident occurs then the driver will;

    a) intimidate the other person not to call the Gardai/take further action

    b) just walk away and abandon the poor animal

As you will see from my post above I was nearly run off the road this morning by 2 sulkies on the Wood road.

Did I contact the Gardai ? No, why would I? I dont want Jimmy Delaney or his ilk calling to my door and in any event what could the Gardai do cos the drivers and sulkies would be long gone within about 1 minute. And if the Gardai were successful in finding them, then what? Seize the horse? Transport it to a pound? Who will actually seize it and who will pay for it?

Effectively the animals are worthless to the owners, so they wont be paying any fees.

The fear of Racist supercedes any animal welfare fixes in this country .

It’s more the fear of a machete attack than racism that stops any push back against them. They are scum

Would they want a town center location?

I only viewed the last month of this thread.

Hopefully something like Home Store and More will open near JSYK.

Shaws seem to be doing well. Hopefully they'll attract others.

Normal seems to be expanding also.

    It's Dannish.

It's meant to a cross between Dealz, Chemist Wearhouse, Flying Tiger with a lot of Dannish stuff also.

They opened one in Dublin and another in Cork recently.

There meant to be considering an expansion in Ireland. I wouldn't rule them out.

the music festival in Raheen House seems to have been brilliant and a great success according to people who attended. The very best of a boutique concert. Well done to all. And for those of us who didn’t attend it was nice to be serenaded by the Whole of the moon last night!

Agreed but i can see the double parking there of lazy folk only adding to the chaos already on that area during peak times.

For the surrounding area around Clonmel. I heard today that the Goatenbridge reservoir that serves places like Ardfinnan, Newcastle, Clerihan, Cahir, and other areas, is beyond repair this time. Needs several million investment in new equipment and won't be in the budget to commence replacement of the equipment until 2027. Is this true? I can't find any official word on their website but it only has the boil water notice from a few weeks ago still in effect. Does anyone have any official update?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 603 ✭✭✭thamus doku

the Goatenbridge works have been ongoing for a while now. They are doing those works so that reservoir can provide water to Clonmel and the new developments starting in marlfield and the Cahir road .
The biggest issue facing future developments in clonmel is access to water And soft water at that.

Unfortunately by doing those works they keep contaminating the water.
This has been going on a few years now and even when there is no boil notice I dont drink from the tap.
    dont trust it.

They are going to supply Clonmel off the Goatenbridge reservoir?? Jesus wept! If it doesn't rain for a week they already have to impose night time restrictions due to low levels. The population of Clonmel will drain that dry within a day. And in the last year we must have had boil water notices for more than 6 months (including all over Christmas). Maybe their cunning plan to make sure demand doesn't outstrip supply is to make sure the water isn't safe for human consumption.

not all of Clonmel. It Already does marlfield and there is going to be huge development from marlfield up to the cahir road.
There is also big plans for clerihan re development and clerihan gets water from goatenbridge.
the biggest issue facing these developments is access to water.
