There is some buzz in here.

The place will erupt when Connacht get the bonus point.

Got a bit lucky with the red (can see why it was given but think it's very harsh) but apart from that totally on top and score not at all unfair.

Prendergast has been unreal in everything; tackling, carrying, lineout and even the way he's managed the ref, absolutely outstanding stuff.

Get the next try early and secure the five match points. Munster seem more intent on shouting and complaining to the ref rather that putting that effort into play.

    150 to 21 tackles at 50 mins

You'd have to give the credit to Lancaster but Cian Prendergast has gone to another level. He's absolutely incredible.

    Get in!

Even for that Jansen try cian is the man in for the second shove to get him over.

Cian definitely man of the match in my book, Jansen also very good but another brilliant captain’s performance.

Permutations for top 8 are, if Connacht get a TBP win and One of the below happens....

Lions lose to Munster and get no match points

    or

    the Lions win

    Or

    Cardiff lose

    Or

    ulster lose

A connacht 4 match points win and they need one of Munster, Ulster or Cardiff to lose.

I thought Ioane played well, distributed well whereas usually he can overplay the ball. West and Aki seem to have a good partnership. I thought we stagnated a bit in the 2nd half, Devine should have been brought on earlier as his introduction added a bit more zip to our play

6th is in the bag, never a doubt.

    5th with a bit of luck 💪

    6th is better than 5th...

Id rather play leinster in the aviva than the bulls in pretoria.

if we finish 5th it would be ahead of the Bulls probably against Munster, or potentially the Lions.

However, Treviso would have to be allowed all 23 players on the field for that to happen 😂

Bulls should finish 4th, they will get TBP win over Benetton

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 2,131 ✭✭✭Citizenpain

what needs to happen to get 5th? Lions or Munster could push bulls to 5th if bulls lose and we cannot overtake them right ? They have 11 wins . We have 9

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,383 ✭✭✭Paddy_Mag

Connacht cant get any higher then 6th i think.

Guys we're far from here. Munster are deplated but home vs Lions so the 4-1 split is quite possible. Stormers have their home QF so Cardiff might win, home SF expectations may keep them in the game and prevent the welsh BP… Doubt it as they're playing on friday and can't rely on Munster-Lions result, the blues might go for the TBP… If they don't earn it though, we're ahead of them on global difference (5 points in Edinburgh needed anyway)

That was my take as well. As the second half continued I was finding it hard to see where the bonus point try was going to come from. When Casey scored the try for Munster I was actually happy because I figured that could be the kick up the arse that Connacht needed. And so it happened.

I thought it was worrying that Connacht struggled to finish off the game with the try bonus point and I know there are going to a lot of nerves in Scotland next Friday. But that's not a bad thing. If everything works out next Friday Connacht have nothing to lose in the playoffs. That should allow them to play with huge freedom while others fret.

Ultimately Friday is huge for Connacht but even if we are trounced (which is unlikely) it has been probably the most positive season we have had in 10 years.

I thought that was partly due to taking Harry West off at 53 minutes, not a fan of Gilbert at 13 really.

West is excellent, such a natural footballer. I think his future is as our 15 post Gilbert but will be interesting to see it play out, think he can play any position really.

So many positive things at Connacht these days. Billy Bohan is playing out of his skin. Sam Illo is doing great on the opposite side. Heff is invigorated in what he sees on either side of him. Second row is light for next season but they are not shabby. Back row is outstanding and probably the best back row in the league.

Scrum halves of Devine and Murphy are really good. Out halves is interesting. I found the selection of Carty over Naughton on the bench this weekend a bit puzzling. Is Sean really not showing the promise that we all think he is.

Bundee is rejuvenated and Harry West and John Devine are brilliant at outside centre.

And then you have Bolton. Jennings, Treacy and Gilbert.

    How good is this.

There is not another Irish province that does not fear the men from the West today.

And yes this is the same ElisaAtWar who has critized and hounded this team for the past decade

And just one other thing. I saw an article related to Gavin Coombes in which he said that Munster despise Connacht and Connacht despise Munster. I assume that is total malarkey as nothing could be further from the truth.

Thought our locks completely out played Edogbo and Wycherly yesterday. Thought Josh had a really good game. Add in that there was only one international 6 on show and he wasn't wearing red.
