    Hi,

Hopefully correct forum and apologies if not. I was looking into getting a post delivery box to get rid of the letter box opening in the door. Just realised, however, that the An Post Delivery Box is for them only and flyers etc can't be put into it. So wondering how anyone else has handled that or do people just get a more general post delivery box from B&Q/Woodies and skip the An Post one?

    Thanks

one of the reasons I got a post box from An Post was so that I could avoid junk mail. For me it has been a great success.

They're a great idea. I've lots of friends who have them.

We found the best solution for junk mail was moving to the countryside.

Good point re avoiding junk mail lol. But I suppose there are some occasions when actual stuff does arrive and not from An Post.....

The other thing that I find handy is that the A Post boxes can also be designed to post letters or parcels. It can also be set up so that you get a email every time a letter is delivered so you know when to check. This is all explained in the documentation that comes with it.

Thanks. I had seen that alright. Just trying to weigh up the stuff that can't be put into it - for example our neighbourhood group does a letter drop every year about annual fees due etc and none of that could go into the An Post box...

I have an a post box, benefits for me are no junk mail, amazing how we can adapt to live without it!! Also, email on delivery, and when an post deliver parcels secure storage.

An Post are one of the biggest deliverers of junk mail via their publicity post service. They ignore the sticker 'no junk mail'. Will they stop deliving junk if their own box is installed?

I just put it straight into to green bin. I don’t read junk mail any more than I read spam emails.

At the end of the day though it’s probably a significant part of what’s keeping An Post in business, and when you see the likes of Nordpost in Denmark wrapping up their letter post services entirely, it’s a bit of a conundrum.
