ok, if there are buyers then no question

But I get your point. If an Irish or UK version comes with 8 years warranty and a Japanese one doesn't then surely that's worth something. Not to mention the Chademo plugs as well

Childminder bought a 231 EQB jap import from AMCC recently and had to get an adapter as it wasn't CCS - high spec though, huge amount of cars in stock it seems

Kia Soul EV €3k, just passed NCT, low mileage, high spec

    https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/kia-soul-ev-fresh-nct-fully-electric-/41863332

This is cheaper than I have seen one before advertised but be aware these use batteries that do degrade, are only 27kWh to start with and they use CHAdeMO fast charging. Would I buy it instead of a €3k Leaf? I sure would.

2014. Genuinely didn't know these were around that far back. Decent run around alright.

this will not make it from Lucan to Newbridge return. Even Maynooth to Newbridge. Seller is in Maynooth and likely its only use is local shopping and park and ride for train. Useless range. Would not take it if they paid me .

Obviously this is only suitable for people who never or rarely need to drive more than the range of the car 🙄

Requirements to travel further may arise unexpectedly and to me a car is a way of private transportation that can take me where I want to be when I want to be without planning ahead or beyond capabilities of a car. That Kia is only suitable as a banger for park and ride that you know you won’t use for anything else. Still 3.5 k for useless car is too much.

Yet it's more usable than an equivalent year Leaf, right?

only charging to 65% so 70km approx is that the symptom of a large problem or is that the degradation of the battery Unkel is alluding to

If the car isn't suitable for you, don't buy it. Simples. No need to troll this thread.

They only became available in Europe in Q3 2014 so this must be one of the first ones off the production line.

Missed its 2024 NCT for some reason and only charging to 65%, but something different from a Leaf for a runaround.

The below is a general 'signature' and not part of any post:

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

Public transport user? If you're sick of phantom ghost services on the 'official' RTI sources, check bustimes.org for actual 'real' RTI, if it's on their map it actually exists.

It is regrettable that whomever the owner was at the time was never entitled to getting the cars battery replaced under warranty by Kia with a 30kwh pack due to the dodgy battery/obc replacement campaign, otherwise he'd have a proper 180km range town and country runabout rather than what he is selling here.

If I recollect correctly (from various videos on youtube, TeslaBjorn & EV Clinic etc.) replacing any dodgy cells in these packs with healthy ones makes for less than satisfactory results, and is thus considered to not be all that cost effective in the end.

Admittedly, 65km range might well do a lot of people perfectly fine (for the money), and the Soul EV is a far nicer car to drive IMO than any early Leafs, Zoes or Citroen Ami.

No. I have never driven an Ami. It can't really be classed as an equal to the other 3, forget I ever mentioned it.

I have test driven used examples of both the early and refreshed Leafs and a few Zoes.

As a onetime Soul EV owner, it is easily a nicer car to drive than both the early Leafs and Zoes. In my opinion.

No trolling, EV no longer working ?
I would advise you to steer clear of that era of 330e! Worst plugin hybrid system. If your daughter fancies a BMW get 320i instead she will have a lot less problems. Pure petrol are very rare but there is a reason why 330e are cheap.

78k (excluding VRT). Seems a bargain especially for the foundation series

    Hardeeharhar.

No, I'd only want the grabby handle thing that they gave with the LHD S and X here.

I really want to get one here but even importing it myself it's about 20k over what I'd be willing to spend right now. Hence why it's in the bargains I'm not buying thread. I actually think 78k is pretty good for a foundation series already in the EU (albeit not registered)

My daughter fancied an upgrade and she just sold her eGolf for good money. Exactly like you say, 330e are a bit of a bargain. The one we just bought had the HV battery replaced last year

Edit: just had a look at petrol 3 series from 2016/2017 and suffice to say the asking prices are many thousands higher than we paid for the 330e, which also has far better performance, cheaper tax and much cheaper to fuel (on 6c / kWh night rate for the first 30m of range - 90% cheaper than petrol)

Wow that’s a quick flip! Wish you trouble free motoring with bmw. The petrol cars are more expensive because of VRT as you know I am sure, they sold a lot more hybrids than petrols and continue to import hybrids from Japan . I was looking for pure petrol 3 series few years ago then gave up and bought another car.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61,076 ✭✭✭✭unkel

Not a quick flip, she had the Golf a year!

It just seemed an opportune moment to sell it as thanks to the actions of our pal the Donald, second hand EV prices have firmed up considerably

it’s US titled and they explicitly say they don’t do the EU importation and registration - so I’d say this would be all kinds of very expensive trouble to legally get to your driveway - certainly far far more than it’s worth. They’re selling sub $60k on US auction sites now, most of them with $6-7k wraps. It was never homologated for Europe to begin with as we know, but I’ve seen online ones in the UK registered to places like Albania

I meant to say a quick change of car - sold and bought a new one so quick. Good timing cannot argue with that!

Terrible pics, although you can see the gom shows 340km on 100%.

am I correct to say this is the most base spec possible?

Might be a deal to be had as the other car in the pics is a brand new id5, so they may be a keen seller
