I’m siding with Dubois purely based on him being the better boxer but as mentioned it’s a pick em fight and I can see arguments for both

Wardley was good against Parker who looked poor and didn’t box his usual fight but Wardley looked poor against Huni but got the win with a hayemaker

Dubois is a good boxer coming forward and his record is great since Joyce only losing to Usyk, his defence lets him down and that’s how Wardley could clock him

I’d agree with all this. DD better technically and fundamentally, but he is fragile when up against it. If Wardley can take the heat, and really bring his own heat I think he gets the job done

I think Dubois is going to get the job done in 4 or 5. I think it’ll be a demolition. He’s been in with much better opposition and don’t forget how young is still is. I think Dubois has a much better jab and he’ll barrel forward with the head. I expect Wardley to have a messy face early on. He’s fought no one who hits anything like Dubois

Again, I see no issue here…..but here's the thing, DD can be tagged fairly easily as well, and Wardley has very decent power. Could be case of who lands it better, but more importantly, who takes it better. If both can take it, then I would lean with DDs better boxing skills on delivery

Yea fair. It suits Wardley to let it go longer so Dubois will come out with intent. Wardley will have to meet intent with fire so he could certainly tag Dubois early too. Billed as don’t blink is perfect. Enthralling fight

Dubois can go the distance too so I don’t think he will rush his work

He can, but I think things have to be going his way, or at least he has to be really in the fight. If he's suffering and getting in anyway hurt/dominated, I think he will fold, again!

Anyway, really hope Wardley knocks DD out; it's irritating the breaks DD is getting after his two quit jobs in world title fights

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,486 ✭✭✭squinn2912

He probably shouldn’t have got the first one and then he got the second one on the back of the low blow. But to be fair he beat good contenders in millar, hrgovic and joshua. Shoulda been made face Parker but here we are. It would be good if Wardley won to see just what he can do. But I don’t expect it

Dubois has a very good resume compared to Wardley, I don’t think he’s got anything he hasn’t deserved and Frank is a very good matchmaker for his fighters and gets them all next in line for title shots

I feel like it should be Dubois but I've picked against Wardley about 4 times in a row and he keeps proving me wrong 😂

Wardley has a granite jaw and power. Completely wrong matchup for Dubois. Wardley will stop him.

anyone see the face off? Dubois much more edgy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61,037 ✭✭✭✭walshb

saw that. Wardley is so calm, easy going n composed. DD all awkward and uneasy and fidgety

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,486 ✭✭✭squinn2912

Aye, always looks a bit comfused about what’s going on.

Dubois is on the spectrum he’s going to be extremely uncomfortable doing things like that and he’s stated he hates the media work and just wants to fight

Yea we’ve talked about that before. I think it affects him when fighting. When he realises Wardley isn’t bothered about him he will find that hard. For all that I still predict he will walk through Wardley somewhere around 4-6

Very intense face off and presser. DDD didn’t like the binman tag and understandably so. Not sure it was the wisest move from Wardley. Dubois blanked the first bump too there’s no friendship there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,701 ✭✭✭✭OmegaGene

from watching Dubois tbe only person he seems to have a bond with is his younger brother and doesn’t appear to be friends with anyone even on his team

Wardley claiming the binman thing wasn’t meant in a negative way was nonsense, his manager Michael talks a load of waffle

    Wardley 242.2 lbs

    Dubois 251.1 lbs

    two Big boys. Any advantages?

no advantages as regards weight. Two big lads, quite similar in size really

I think Wardley will win. He has a great chin, is hard as nails and carries a lot of power. He’s the inferior fighter technically but I’d side with him every time when questions are asked of the fighters.

both men are floating around even money with the bookies, it should be a decent watch anyway

I watched the Wardley fight with Adalaye and the Dubois fight with Joshua last night. They both go like that again I see Dubois clearly in front. He will take the centre and close the distance which will smother Wardley. Head into the chin and that rank jab. Wardley is very agile but I think he fights best at distance and with a fairly slow pace. Don’t think he will take Dubois’ shots

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61,037 ✭✭✭✭walshb

the view seems to be that Wardley has a sturdier chin and very decent power vs Dubois with very decent power and not so sturdy a chin.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,701 ✭✭✭✭OmegaGene

Dubois has brilliant footwork the way he bounces in and out of range and uses the shoulder to protect his chin at times which I think will be key

Not sure I’d say brilliant footwork. He moves in and out pretty well, especially in and he uses the shoulder and head effectively. When he’s punching he becomes a bit flat footed.
As for the chins I don’t think Wardley has been hit anywhere nearly as hard from top level opponents. He cuts very easily too and the fight could be stopped on cuts

oh yes he does go flat footed when punching but the bouncing in and out isn’t something everyone can do, some boxers like to tuck up and block punches
