Wonder would Hackney from Middlesbrough be an option, albeit a left field one. Dont know much about him but I've seen him mentioned

Really hope we are looking at fernandes. He has a serious engine on him and only 21 - so much upside potential. And proven in the PL. Could be decent value if WH go down

Definitely saw a link to him somewhere the other day

I think you'd be doing well to get Fernandes for £40M even if relegated unless they're hit massively by financial issues and need to do a fire sale. He'd have quite a few clubs after him and especially if West Ham were willing to take £40M.

Wonder if Hayden Hackney will be considered especially if Carrick is given the job. If three CMs are signed the third one could have be a cheap option. I don't see Ugarte making us much money if we even can sell him. Probably be a loan. Hackney could provide a cheap 4th choice CM. Only a year left on his deal and 23. You could make your money back if

I highly doubt Alex Scott will fancy signing as 4th choice CM when he's got England aspirations. Gomes would likely be content as a squad player.

article is paywalled. from 2 days ago.

Manchester United are interested in signing West Ham United midfielder Mateus Fernandes.

The 21-year-old is being discussed by a number of clubs, including United, and is expected to leave West Ham should they be relegated from the Premier League.

I think he'd be well worth a gamble as a squad player. Only one year left on his deal and young enough that he'll have resale value. With a back up striker or versatile forward, LB, and talks that they're looking at a left footed defender a signing like Hackney could be well worth the money for depth this summer. I think Brighton and Forest are linked with him.

Fernandes cost West Ham £40 million, they're going to want £50 minimum surely? Can see that dragging out

i'd be happy with that combo.

the more i think about tonali, i think arsenal go and get him as zubimendi has fallen out of favour.

Lads, can anyone advise me on the best way to get to Hotel Football from the airport? Its on a non-match weekend so presumably traffic wouldn't be as big an issue.

Flying in on a Friday evening for a concert the Saturday, and out again Sunday morning.

Oh and would I need to book a stadium tour in advance if I decide to go?

    AI says (I know)

    Transport Options

Taxi or Rideshare: This is the most direct method. A taxi or Uber typically takes 20 to 30 minutes depending on the evening traffic. Since it is a non-match weekend, you should avoid the heavy congestion usually seen around the stadium.

The Metrolink (Tram): This is a cost-effective and frequent choice. Take the line from the airport toward Victoria and change at Cornbrook for the line heading toward The Trafford Centre. Get off at the Wharfside stop, which is a very short walk from the hotel. Total travel time is approximately 50 to 60 minutes.

Train: You can take a northern rail service from the airport station to Manchester Piccadilly, then catch a second train to United Football Ground station or take a taxi/tram from the city center.

    Manchester United Stadium Tours

It is highly recommended to book in advance, especially for a weekend visit.

Even on non-match days, the Museum & Stadium Tour is a popular attraction. Booking online ensures you get your preferred time slot, as walk-up availability can be limited or sold out by the time you arrive.

Friday/Saturday Availability: Tours typically run every day except match days, but since you are there for a concert on Saturday, check the official website specifically for those dates. Large events in the area can occasionally alter operating hours.

Online Booking: You can book through the official Manchester United website. This also allows you to bundle the tour with a visit to the Red Café or the Museum

I reckon Mount could move to Coventry with Lampard managing them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,097 ✭✭✭✭johnnyryan89

And they paid £40M for him after Southampton were relegated. That's why I can't see him going for £40M whatsoever.£50M as you said would be the minimum and wouldn't be surprised if it's closer to £60M.

Hopefully Bruno has a bigger influence on the lad compared to João Neves and Vitinha if PSG throw their hat in the ring.

Coventry have 1 player paid just over £30k and 2 more just over £20k so it would be some stretch in their wage structure with Mount on £250k per week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,097 ✭✭✭✭johnnyryan89

More chance of United winning the league than Mount going anywhere. He'll walk on a free in two years.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,878 ✭✭✭caviardreams

With his injury record he may need a stretcher rather than walking! :)

If they want to stay in the PL, they are gonna have to smash that budget. But that still doesn't mean going near Mount's wages.

If WHU go down, they'll have to offload players. Fernandes could also force a move from his side too. Either way, he's still value at 50m imo.

he obviously won't be going to world cup, hopefully he can get his fitness sorted over the summer. He is a decent squad option when he's fit.

Watching Bayern and PSG makes you realise that our current squad is miles off the pace and quality of the better sides in Europe.

Yet another disaster of a transfer on every level. Overpaid the fee, overpaid the wages, not a great player with a significant injury history. One of way too many over the past decade or more.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,697 ✭✭✭✭bucketybuck

He couldn't do it last summer, why should this one be any different?

Part of this club getting back to the top involves not having this type of player hanging around the squad for a decade hoping that something might come good. If you can't make plans with him, then get him out of the way.

anyone following the fa youth cup final issues? us vs city.

city are the home team and so they decide the venue, and have picked the academy ground over the etihad citing on-going building works and fixture congestion.

utd offered to use old trafford but city refused. fa cant do anything as the city academy ground is fa approved.

for reference here is attendance of last 5 finals. city's academy ground has capacity of ~7000.

cynics would say city wouldn't be able to sell out their allocation if held at the etihad and that would be very embarrassing.

Disgraced behavior. Madrid should transfer list both players immediately.

it's the type of fighting spirit we need. we be too nice

We've the worst transfer record in history I think.

    So many expensive flops.

Last summer was good though. But from 2013 to 2025 was brutal.

    Too many to even name.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,917 ✭✭✭orangerhyme

We'd have to nail every signing for 3 windows I think to get even close.

I'm not sure we've the coaching and management team to get the best out of the players.

according to ben jacobs we have been in discussions with matheus fernandes' camp for weeks.

price of 20-30m if whu get relegated.

no deal if they stay up, or at least a higher fee.

NEW: United have been in contact with Mateus Fernandes' camp for more than four weeks.

If West Ham get relegated, his signing would likely cost around £20m-30m. As of now, Mateus Fernandes is OPEN to the idea of joining United.

United have been in talks with Mateus Fernandes’ camp for four to six WEEKS and they are to establish terms to see whether the player is OPEN to a move and he IS.

If West Ham stay UP, the deal will likely be OFF the table at least without significantly overpaying because they will fight to keep him. #MUFC [

Has Ben Jacobs ever gotten a United transfer right? He's a tier -1 source as far as I'm concerned
