As the title suggests what are peoples thoughts on applying clik to ewes now and waiting till end August or September to shear, any pros or cons. Was thinking of trying it..few reasons have small numbers and can be hard get a shearer if left later in the year might be easier get someone...clik on the ewes might protect or help protect the lambs as well over the summer...later shearing would mean less wool around mating and lambing next spring...when very woolly around lambing harder for lambs find the teats, harder see ewes bagging up....any thoughts

We do that every year, shear around the end of august, mainly be cause they're cleaner for lambing, less wool everywhere'.

We use Lleyn cross ewes and they never get stuck on their back, however it might be a problem if you had big fat ewes.

dont shear til august here either. sheep are really clean at lambing and obviouly fit more in shed. I shear my own and can shear them at any time but find later shearing best fit all round

Also if you get a hard night of sleety rain when lambs are young you don't have a ewes with a big fleece stand there, she will find shelter with the shorter fleece and bring the lambs with her
