Thats the thing about this scheme its so open too abuse with a hint of one mans junk is another mans treasure.

You could say ok for 4 what I got was good, spent about 6 on a coffee and bottle of coke and had a snack and dessert for a 5er a head (all be it not the best quality and maybe stuff you would not want)

Then as you will see at 11.05 (under a hour till I am guessing the lunch stuff will take over) there was plenty of fry stuff, that you would expect in a breakfast bag and some of which is on the description

My first time using this app.

For €5 at On the Pig's Back, English Market, Cork City, I got two loaves of bread, one slice each of pizza and quiche, and a stick of salami.

    Not too bad!

Got a bag from O'Hehirs yesterday.

Two bags of pasties (scones, crossaints & some others), two large loaves of bread (one white, one brown), large victoria sponge cake & a box of smaller pasties/cakes/donuts.

I'd say I got at least €30ish worth of stuff for €4.99. An absolute bargain.

I wonder if the pastries could be frozen and then thawed and briefly brought back to life in the air fryer? 🧐

The scones, crossaints can (I've done it before). Bread slicced and in freezer. Not sure on donuts though (I gave them to a friend for her kiddies)

Re: the James Whelan bags going immediately, there are scripts out there that can auto purchase something for you. If you are handy with javascript and/or web scripting, you can write something nifty that will poll repeatedly and purchase once available

Id say thats definitely happening because about 18 months ago I realised JW Naas branch updated at 11am every day. Tried 5 days in a row refreshing the app at 11am and didnt get one of the 5, they were literally bought in seconds most likely auto purchased by a script

Anyway has anyone else had Aldi orders cancelled? Has happened me the last 3 times across 2 different Aldis, very frustrating as they took the order and then cancelled it 6 hours later.

I got a load of croissants and pain au chocolat that were slightly stale before - not through TG2G - and turned them into a lovely bread and butter pudding.

My aldi was cancelling bags as no dated food left as 75% off was selling fast at 4.30pm when stickers raised from 30%. My Aldi also told me they losing money on the 75% stuff selling as people buying it not full price and so loads full price stuff ending up at 75%. They've changed it 2 weeks ago, no reduced stuff out till 2pm, 50% fridge only n 30% bread so tgtg boxes available but rating has dropped to 4.1. I'm passing two different Aldi soon n going to try n get their bags to see.

I've frozen all sorts, donuts too. Even butterfly cupcakes, all fine, you'd never know. I also freeze rashers, ham etc packets, just some chicken slices end up with a slimy feel from Dunnes especially, so I've learnt which one can't be frozen. Hummus too, in cubes so usable amount, cream for soups etc. I've also started to freeze the inner stalk from broccoli for soup. Fajitas veg mix too, just take out the spice packet. All helps.

Erm... If a store has a lot of reduced food, then that's sometimes simply bad stock management and ordering. In terms of losing 75% of the price that would normally be charged, well, it's better than losing 100% of the price if they had to write it off...

My €4 caught me some sea bass from O'Connell's (English Market, Cork) that would have sold for €12.

The sea bass is quite a character, carnivorous and perennially hungry, with a wide-ranging diet that includes everything from the smallest crustaceans and molluscs

That'll do for today, along with boiled potatoes, green beans, and aioli that had been reduced to €1.75 from Lidl.

Bagged a 4kg ham from Whelans yesterday for 23e.

Very rare for them to appear.

I was so excited a few weeks ago when I managed to nab a JW surprise bag. I sent a family member to get it, as I don’t live there. I was a bit underwhelmed

15 euro worth of chicken for €4.99. what did you expect? You'll feed 4 people.

I got a packet of 12 meatballs and mince last night for 4.99. I poured in a few tins of tomatoes and cooked in the pan and had rice with it. It fed 4 of us.

Got 2 portions of salmon and a fish pie from K O'Connell, for €6.70, original price €20. Yeah, they are expensive!

Going to have the salmon today (boiled potatoes, broccoli, peas) and freeze the pie for another time.

Got 2 Aldi over the last week. Only 1 available. 5 stars. Meat two days in date, which I've ever seen before. Rest 50% of stickers but all usable, good variety.

Got a bag from local bakery - One blueberry muffin, one raspberry cheese cake slice, one salmon cucumber bagel and one vegan stuffed flatbread pie cut. Not bad

We got mackerel and scallops. Cooked them this evening and was very disappointed. No taste to the mackerel and the scallops released a lot of liquid.
