schedule the charger to stop the car going into a deep sleep so shortly after you would normally be plugging in.

The way the Sigenergy charger works. I have it scheduled to kick in at 8. If the car is plugged in before 8 it does handshake at 8 if plugged in after it does the handshake immediately and then waits for car schedule to kick in.

Pre update it used to take the car 4-6 hours to go into deep sleep. Post update it seems to happen within an hour of being idle.

Would anyone be able to give me a shot at the value of a 241 ID7 pro 1st edition….i was hoping for 40k but i think even that seems unrealistic now unfortunately. Mileage is about 27k. I appreciate the help.

in what context, as a private sale or as a trade in?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,987 ✭✭✭micks_address

I usually look up same year mileage on carzone if it's with a dealer drop a couple of k off what they will offer you but lot.of variables.. if you are currently on PCP they might look after you better.

Sorry yes, that would have made sense….it would be a trade in. As in what could the dealer value it at?

really depends on what you are trading against tbh, if its another id7 they might be more generous for example, if its another brand maybe not, but again if its not a volume seller they might increase the trade (same as a discount on the RRP ultimately)

OK thanks, I am debating changing brands as I have had issues with every VW I have owned and im sort of tired of them. I was looking at the Model 3 but it might be a bit of a downgrade in terms of features I think.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,382 ✭✭✭✭Cyrus

well tesla just farm out trade ins to the trade, so youll be getting rock bottom offers id imagine (but wont cost you anything to find out!) what features would be downgraded ID7 v a model 3?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 901 ✭✭✭Vudgie

I was thinking just general trim, massage seats, wheels/tyres. I have never sat in a model 3 so I am just going on what I have seen passing by and online. If changing to a Tesla would mean rock bottom trade in its probably not a wise option anyway. Ill check it with Tesla to see what trade in they would give me….I presume its all done online?

build quality on the new M3 premium is very good, different style but quality is good and you can spec different wheels? Heated and cooled seats but no massage, but technology is excellent and step up from the VAG group, rear screen can be handy for rear passengers etc. Yeah you can do it all online, itll give you an idea what the general trade values your car at.

€35K is probably achievable for a private sale

That's the price of doing business with Volkswagen unfortunately 😓

Dull, conservative, and designed for buyers that don't quibble or twitch the curtains too much when they're being fleeced.

Wouldn’t be any different with any other brand. Looking to sell on or trade a high end EV that’s only 2 years old is always going to be a hefty lump of depreciation.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,901 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

There are a few main dealers asking 40k for similar cars so getting offered 35k as a trade in would be doing well. Some dealers importing used ones from the UK too so that impacts resale values here too.

I wouldn't even bother trying to trade it in with Tesla. Yours and everyones time will just be wasted. They will just come back with some low ball offer that they get from some chancer from trade-bid.ie.

You could try BYD, they seem to retail some used non BYD brands on their dealer forecourts, the Seal would be similar to the Model 3 in terms of size and spec.

So not the best situation but not unexpected at all either and sort of compounds what I already knew. Probably best to avoid a brand change then.

Or…this is your chance to get out of VW for good? A little hit that you won't even remember in 3 years.

So Tesla offered €32k on a trade in…not surprised.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,030 ✭✭✭✭mickdw

Would have expected worse from Tesla. That's just some dealer blindly putting a figure on it.

When I was car shopping towards the end of last year the id7 was my favourite of everything I looked at. Granted, the external proportions are a bit off but from behind the wheel it's a supremely comfortable and refined drive. In terms of internal space and the liftback practicality it's alot closer to a model Y than a 3. VWs unwillingness to do a deal and the sheer value of the Rwd Model 3 meant I chose otherwise.

I bought one last year. Dealers were all keen to do a deal and rang around 4 of them pricing them off each other, cheapest came in 7k less than list price for the tourer model.

Ended up going with a much cheaper tiny mileage ex demo, for 8 k less than advertised.

Just ot note Tesla put the car on tradebid.ie and see who responds, so the 32k being offered to you is from Joe Bloggs garage that use the bidding platform. Tesla have zero interest and no capacity to hold 3rd party stock anywhere.

So oif the trade is bidding 32k for the car, that may be all it's worth to them. Can imagine however, with rebates and concessions, that a VW dealer would be able to offer more, evenn if it's masked by a final figure to change into a new VW (just not an ID7 as you've learned).

Would you stay with the brand? It does kinda have a somewhat staid conservative image in Ireland these days.

Has anyone got experience with the new larger battery in the ID7…looks like VW is claiming about 100km extra but we all know these estimates are to be taken with a huge element of skepticism.

ID7 is going to be falling outside the EV grant threshold from 31st July, certainly won't help sales.
