If those creamy points of Guinness became a thing of the past for ATN id have to review my summer choices

If they have Murphy's or Beamish I would be ok with that so long as freeflow remained.

Definitely, but more importantly I'd be inclined to agree with BD that it could be the end of free flow with that cheap watery dutch pi$$ crowd coming in...

Ah hopefully its not true as the pints of Guinness werent too bad for a festival and liked the Lovely Days stage etc, they're still on the https://www.alltogethernow.ie/partners list.

Tbh I'm not sure how they would enforce the removal of the free flow especially when you walk in from the campsite via the lovey days stage because that area is tight coming over the bridge. Now obviously they could rejig the entrances but losing the free flow will have some backlash. Pretty sure there was a small beamish bar last year but I never got to it

I doubt there was any Heineken representation last year with Diageo having the beer contract. Maybe you're thinking of the Smithicks Sheeben area that they introduced?

Would miss Guinness alright if true. Was Beamish/Murphys/Laguinitas available at most bars at the picnic at least, or did you have to seek them out?

Ending free flow would be a disaster, for many reasons we have mentioned here before.

@Plush289 could you provide the link where you got this source, was it a media report or someone you know in the drinks industry. As I can't find anything online suggesting this is happening.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

no need for the annual free flow scaremongering.

As for Heineken taking over from Guinness, wouldn’t be surprised if that occurs soon but given licence application etc for 2026 listed Guinness and these contracts always are negotiated more than year out, wouldn’t be shocked if changeover is for 2027 festival.
Guinness taking over EP bars was official in June 2025 for a September 2026 change.

If it means Beavertown Neck Oil on tap, then I'm all for Heineken taking over in future.

A good IPA or Pale Ale would certainly be a plus, but the Guinness on-site was always savage, it'd be missed and a mistake IMO.

not much a festival can do if beer sponsor doesn’t renew and has entered into a multi year multi festival deal with livenation/festival republic across uk and Ireland.
only so much money in a sponsorship and having both biggest and second biggest music festival in ireland is overkill

Now if there was a 'rigid' type plastic guiness glass for say a fiver one off payment, I'd be all over it.

You had to seek them out, they dropped Lagunitas the past 2 years totally I believe for some reason, I found ONE tiny bar shaped like a van near the back right of main stage sorta in the middle of nowhere selling Neck Oil last year for I believe around 9 quid for a session IPA lol, I never liked it tbh one of the worst of the Heineken IPA's personally, bland with a fancy glass. Lagunitas much better or even Gamma ray, they always seemed to ignore their best products in recent years. I found most bars recently had Beamish/Murphys but I think last year it was changed to mostly just Murphys, and then the Stradbally inn bar had Beamish too. At least with Guinness/Diageo, you had more or less all of their core products at ATN somewhere plus some nice niche ones.

End of free flow would be a massive pain tbh it's a big selling point, but if they do hopefully it'll give them a bigger budget for acts and at least give us a choice of decent beers to drink in the main arena.

Unfortunately loss of free flow would not correlate in any way whatsoever with a better selection of music or beer. It would just correlate with the progression to unfettered greed and disrespect to punters. Hopefully it stays, at least for this year as selfishly it may be my last for a few years due to oldest kid aging out. I love the free flow and still spend plenty of money in the main arena at the various beer/wine/aperol stands etc

Heineken pays for exclusivity/branding at festivals not to shut down free flow. EP didn’t have free flow cause live nation want to every cent where it can including bar sales.

Fairly sure POD (camping) events a long while ago in the past had Heineken and Free Flow right so there is a decent chance it might stay? Yes I would 100% keep the current free flow setup too obviously, plus Heineken have had a poor beer selection at most festivals I've been at over the past 3/4 years so cant see that changing too, the general point I was making with that is there is nothing worse than been stuck in a main arena with having to fork out nearly 8 quick for some average-to crap beer that you don't even like so at least give us options like in fairness Diageo did at ATN previous, best of both worlds (plus stouts are a heavy festival drink imo to be having 4 or 5 each day along with mixing with campsite cans, maybe not the case for other people tho).

Had an wonderful mix of Smithwick's and Guinness last year. That Smithwick's area in general was my favourite new thing to discover last years ATN. Kept going back for those delicious pints.

POD know full well that the free flow is a major selling point and I couldn't see them getting rid of it until the festival goes past 50,000 people, Guinness would be a loss, the pints at the festival are lovely and the Lovely Days stage would be missed, I know they would keep the physical stage and just swap over to Heiniken Greenlight,

Thinking of it, could track with POD & Heineken both booking TOMORA recently

The Guinness Lovely Days stage branding is a very nice design. Swapping the black and gold for garish illuminescent green and red would be shoite, unless they just go back to whatever tent was there before.

Heineken is taking over this year. Lovely days stage is gone. Something else will solace it though

was told last night by someone involved! Contract only freshly signed last week

Agree the look of Lovely Days with the black and white/gold is lovely, and would be horrible to see it turn into something similar to the Heineken stages at EP

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,037 ✭✭✭Fanirish

lovely days stage will probably end up in stradbally. Unless it’s broken up for rubbish heap

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,290 ✭✭✭endainoz

Well that's a real shame, the nitro surge will have to get dug out now. A shame to lose the lovely days stage though, didn't spend half enough time at it.

Lovely Days is the best stage at the festival
