Boards Golf Society – Captain’s Weekend Accommodation 2026

    Lads,
    Captain’s Weekend is set for Westport on the 18th & 19th of September.
    I know a lot of ye, myself included over the years, like to sort your own accommodation, but I’ve put a block on some 2-bed apartments in the Helms Apartments. They’re right beside the Helms Bar/Restaurant and only a 15-minute walk into the main street.
    Rates:
    • €115pp per night B&B (Fri & Sat) based on 4 sharing a 2-bedroom, 4-bed apartment
    • €115pp for 1 night (Sat) B&B based on 4 sharing
    • Single room supplement: €40 per night limited availability.


    We’ve also got dinner booked in the Helms Bar/Restaurant — 3-course set menu (including tea/coffee) for €45pp.


    @spacecoyote, if you could throw up a survey when you get a chance please so we can lock in numbers 👍

    I've added an extra question re single supplement for rooms.

    lads, just a heads up and I know it’s a couple of months away yet, but please fill in the survey if you are in any way intending on staying. It’s easier take a name out closer to the date than to try add one in when rooms are booked. A lot of organising goes into this and the golf every year and we want to accommodate as many members as possible. Thanks.

    @spacecoyote , there's a minor bug on the survey where if you select 'Golf only' it still expects an answer for 'Single Room Requested' Maybe add an N/A option to the 3rd question?

    I've added an NA button, but if people just picked happy to share we get to the right result ultimately.

    Thw primary goal for Tiger was to identify people looking for single rooms

    So potentially stupid question, you need to have put in three cards for captains outing, and the one beforehand doesn't count right?

    A few bits have come up so I might not get three outings in before that weekend, can you still play and just not be on the running for the prizes? Id hope to be free that weekend and two days of golf sounds fun, but if I don't get two more outings in beforehand would that mean I could only play the Friday?

    No bother if so, just want to know before I look at accom etc. 😊

    One of the committee will confirm but usually for things like this you can still play, you just aren't eligible to win the main prize.

    You can absolutely still play on the Captains day if you paid up your membership sub yes.

    But yes, you may not be eligible for the big prize.

    I'm not sure if Tiger confirmed whether the Friday is counting towards GOTY or not?

    He did, confirmed it as non-counting when he first announced the schedule as some people can struggle to get Fridays off work to play.

    As the lads said we left Ballinrobe out as a qualifier. The only prize you won't be eligible for is the 1st prize on Captains day if you don't manage to get the three in. Traditionally over the years when going west for the Captains a lot of us would play a open on the Friday to make the weekend of it like Dromoland or Castlemorris, it was only in recent years the Friday was made a qualifier.
