Fair play to him thought he might wilt with the finishing line in sight but deserved his win especially taking on some of those long pots etc .Hard luck to Shaun he almost bridged the long gap between titles .A great final ,sorry its over now .

Feel awful for Murphy, played out of his skin and lost, but what a finish from Wu, that opening red, can see him winning a few more.

Amazing match, amazing tournament, the withdrawals will hit me fierce tomorrow.

Feel for Murphy a bit, annoying at times but probably not the worst?

    Very classy in fairness.

'My parents are the true champions' - classy line by Wu.

Superb tournament and a fitting champion 🏆 , will go down as one of the best . 8 years in England and can't speak the lingo

My parents are the true champions - wow - what a line , as good as any speech I have heard in the moment

Can't stand BBC coverage so have watched it on Eurosport usually or sometimes TNT over the last number of years. This year I went the whole hog and watched the streams on Bet365 with no commentary at all. Quite liked it.

Outstanding final. Both players turned up and played brilliantly. It says a lot that a match going the distance has finished so early.

Feel sorry for Shaun. He left it all out there and just came up short. Nerves of steel from Wu Yize. In the semi winning the last 3 frames and throughout the final.

They did great here in fairness.

Probably as many speak his language in fairness.

He does his talking on the table and he's fair good at that.

this thread is starting to go a bit UKIP

I like the way Wu speaks in his native mandarin. Instead of English. Gives a good flavour of his personality.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

That safety shot from Wu that landed on the yellow was the difference!!! One shot!!

There has been a disgusting amount of booing from the crowd all weekend when Wu has been ahead.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 23,189 ✭✭✭✭FixdePitchmark

He is not in a great sport to learn English - he probably spends all day - I mean all day at the table - must be most solo sport in the world

I'm gutted for Murphy. Really though he was going to pull through there at the end esp after that century. Wu is amazing though. That red to the center after the Chinese snooker, I knew it was over then.
