Limerick Run Excellent Day

Was in Limerick city for Great Run yesterday has to be the best day of the year in the city . Close on 20,000 people ran in the various categories with thousands more spectating.The buzz in the city was a pleasure to see .

The railway station was a huge hive of activity all morning with runners arriving by bus and by train and Limerick fans were heading to Ennis . All the streets and cafes were full of running supporters and families having a day out , later the bars were full with runners , family members and people watching match . All good people with no hassle . It shows just what Limerick has to offer when the drug dealers / addicts are pushed to one side . The railway station is a hugely improved set up with Bus/train connections side by side and security has been enhanced. The area from Hunt Museum to King Johns castle is the most interesting & historic part of any city in Ireland .

Politicians , judges & garda chiefs need to for once and for all deal with the large extended local drug families ruining what as yesterday showed a great city when the baddies are outnumbered.

Yet another thread for you to have a pop off Limerick! Limerick is no worse than any other city and is not the Wild West you always try and make it out to be!

limerick has loads to offer but it’s ruined by a few local families & their drug gangs and it’s a lot more visible than other Irish cities . People like you ignoring it allows it get worse rather than tacking the issue making Limerick great like it was yesterday 👍

No one is ignoring anything. Limerick has it's problems but your constant portrayal of it as like an episode of The Wire does no favours either. Limerick has always had a bad reputation in the media and despite your assertions we're not halfas bad as other places.

Great weekend in the city. Pity the Limerick hurlers didn't socialise a bit more during Riverfest and we might have done better against them in Cusack Park yesterday 😀

Brilliant weekend in the city but These type people from large extended local families are the ones ruining it for Limerick year in year out and getting away with it . None of them ever worked only causing trouble for the city and getting everything for free

I enjoyed the run as I always do but I felt this year I noticed a significant increase in the amount of people doing it. I did the half marathon and found the route quite congested until at least Collin's bar in Dooradoyle. It was hard to get past people. The water stations were also very busy as a result of numbers. Other than that I thought it was very well organised.

How do you know they're from large extended local families? Are you trying to say they were travellers like you normally imply run wild in Limerick?
