What injuries has he had this season? The leg break was just one of those freak injuries that unfortunately happen from time to time. Before that was it not a case that he was not fit enough because he missed all of preseason?

They have time on their side, but, I think we could have used the money better to have a more balanced squad this season to allow us to challenge better, when you pay those kind of fees, you need players ready to go. It was known Isak hadn't done a proper pre season and hasn't the best injury record anyway, plus Wirtz while he has great ability, is he able for the EPL or suitable to how we want to play, spending about 250 million on those 2 players, they really needed to hit the ground running, Wirtz has at best being underwhelming and Isak barely played, both players need to start delivering on a consistent basis next season. Huge question marks over our recruitment team and strategy.

It's fairly normal to get niggles coming back from a long time out. The problem is we're so reliant on him due to other injuries. He needs a proper rest and preseason. Instead he's going to be flogged to death at the world cup in 30+ degree heat followed by a pre season in the same place!

He was first not fit, then injured. He’s not been fit for more than 4 consecutive weeks at any point this season.

Once he came into the team, he played for one month exactly, before getting an adductor injury. When he came back from that, he was fit for exactly one month, before the leg break.

We can only hope the summer internationals and a decent preseason will see him build up a bit of physical consistency.

Playing in the World Cup and getting a proper preseason should have him ready to go at the start of next season, it certainly shouldn't be used as an excuse if he can't stay fit for any length of time next season.

I worry for this team today, offensively. No natural centre forward and even then if Gakpo plays there, there aren't exactly a wealth of options to flank him.

If Frimpong starts as RW, that means that Jones is a makeshift RB for the game again. Rio can't last more than 60 mins, and it's a high pressure situation so not exactly ideal for a teenager. Chiesa can't last more than 20 mins.

While Woodman hasn't shown anything of the like, I'd still worry about him in this sort of game with the atmosphere etc. One mistake and his head could go.

That being said, I don't think Man Utd have that massive quality to break us down through regular play. Their big threats are set pieces and counter attacks. Set pieces with Casemiro & Maguire is their big route to goal. Avoid being countered at, keep switched on at set pieces and we'll be a long way towards keeping a clean sheet IMO. I just seriously worry about us scoring from play with such little options in attack.

So we basically have to do what we have been incapable of doing for most of the season! United always raise their game for us even when we have outplayed them in the past, they have had an ability to get a result against us. They are in better form than us and I'd imagine are relishing the opportunity to play us. I hope I am wrong but, I fear a bad result today.

Will Wright is a natural centre forward. The fact we bought him from Salford too convinces me that he should be an option from the bench

Go Wirtz, Gakpo, Frimpong from the start and have Rio and Will off the bench

Why is the match on at 3:30 not 4:30?

I think this is a game where UTD might finally get some revenge for those beatings over the years. If Isak is out we are left we zero attacking threat.

UTD maybe not be at their best within their life time, but they're playing with confidence and they'll fancy a crack at our leaky defence knowing there's not much chance of punishment at the other end.

    This wont be pretty.

Are you seriously advocating for Will Wright, who turned 18 a few weeks ago, to play or start away at Old Trafford for his first ever appearance for the club.

The same Will Wright who's been in a match day squad once in his life after playing 60 minutes in the 4th division a year ago.

Yeah let's go to Old Trafford with a 17 year old & 18 year old as our attacking options off of the bench.

Wirtz Gakpo & Frimpong has no natural forwards. Wirtz never plays as a winger because he is not one. He is an attacking midfielder. Gakpo is a winger. Frimpong is a wing back.

Hard to see us winning today and I reckon a loss might be coming. Sneak a 1-1 draw would be a good result.

Look at the lineup, if Wirtz, Gakpo and Frimpong aren't the forward line, who is?

Will Wright is on the bench alongside Rio, Nyoni, Morrison and Ndiaye

That's 5 of our bench who are teenagers plus a goalkeeper who is 21 and only ever played Hungarian league

Why can't Wright come off the bench? We can make 5 subs and Chiesa is the only player over 19 on the bench who doesn't play in defence

    3rd choice GK.

CM playing out of position because there's no RB to play there.

Because there's no forwards fit so Frimpong has to play as an auxiliary right hand side attacker of some sort.

A winger playing as the only forward.

5 teenagers on the bench. A 6th sub who's 21. A couple of those never played mens football.

Most of the team haven’t played men’s football this year.

And I'm still waiting for what the alternative is?

Salah, Ekitike, Isak, Bradley, Leoni, Mamardashvili, Alisson and Endō all can't play

I'm still in the keep Slot camp, but just. We need a performance more than a result today, both would be nice. If he can't get the team motivated and running thru walls against an improving but inconsistent Man Utd team then I think it will be the last straw for me.

I can't see where we get goals today and it's very defensive setup. I'm struggling to see anything but a loss today and I reckon corners are where Utd will score. Praying for a miracle win.

Whether you're in the Slot out or Slot in camp, he's going to be here next year. So performance is probably the thing here. Some signs that we can be hopeful for next season.

With amount of injuries I don’t have much hope.

Why has Kerkez been dropped lately? Thought he was coming good or at least starting to show something since the turn of the year

Thats what I can't figure out either. Not that the bar has been high, but he has been one of our better players since January.
