    Not a bother to you

PS actual route is now 9k longer than originally announced as we had to change the finish due to a pesky train problem or at least a potential problem but sure when you're doing 180k you might as well do 190

The Wicklow Gap hasn’t seen this much action in years!

The C3 route I assume ( hope) would be slightly less?

Sorted - 2.5 laps then climb to Wicklow gap.

Interesting to hear it’s filling up with Kanturk getting 35 or so for the C3 only event.

    Corkery I’d say.

Hasn’t he won that jersey before?

Anyone got a list of the masters only races for this year? Filtering cycling Ireland calender isn't filtering too well!

The gap will be fine. Hollywood Hill on the other hand… Still tempted but climbing like Jakobsen at the moment (and sprinting like Mas!).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,419 ✭✭✭✭dahat

5.5km at 4% sounds anything but okay.

    What’s Hollywood hill like?

    Edit - 2km @ 7.9% , Jesus above

Hollywood Hill is hard doing it once; 3 or 4 times is only for those who are proper 'climbers'. It hits well above 12% at the mid point before a gentler final km. When we were teenagers, I brought my French exchange student on a cycle through the countryside. We went up Hollywood Hill on old 5 speed racers. He collapsed in a heap at the top and we had to get a lift home. The worst road he ever cycled apparently.

I wouldn't be too fearful of the Gap from that side (did this race used to go up from Laragh now I think about it?). It's whether you can power up and hang on the steep bit of Hollywood. Reasonable chance of getting back on if not too far off the back as the lap probably doesn't really suit the climbers.

As I got my ass handed to me on Boston in the Curragh with the vets (albeit the day after a 12km road running race where I did ok!), I really don't fancy my own chances of being in touching distance.

We put a KOH prize for every race on the second time up, just to keep it interesting. Definitely harder than Boston Hill but with a longer descent than you have between Boston and Dunmurray.

40 men, 22 women. Strong fields in there. Entry closing midnight tonight.

~15 in each of the youth races and 20 in Masters. Hoping for a few more by COB Friday but generally good numbers.

@CramCycle - you do know the results of the Kilmore GP were never published on CI?

Folks, if I could be so bold as to promote the race my un is running on this coming Saturday evening.....

    https://eventmaster.ie/event/GYe2hkKtpd

The first of our Saturday evening handicapped races for 2026. Entries close midday on Saturday the 16th, no exceptions. Any questions then please get back to me, thanks, burger.

The Roadman popped up on my "for you" feed on one of my socials over the weekend, discussing the falling numbers. Even though I said the change from A4 to C3 as an entry, I was surprised how prominent that was as an reasoning provided. Also a lot of former A3 saying they are finding C2 too hard. It was really A1 that was the issue, but (with the benefit of hindsight obviously) they might have borked the system.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,419 ✭✭✭✭dahat

C1 is almost elite and ordinary riders cannot compete but CI are blissfully ignoring this and pushing riders though the grades to ensure numbers enter the C1 races. Look at last weekends Shay Elliot as an example - solid C1 type has no chance against lads that are at Conti levels then come home to powder the ego by taking decent prizes.

No big deal really just sonething I noticed is all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,133 ✭✭✭✭Macy0161

Well I really wouldn't mind as much for the Shay Elliott as one of the premier races. Jack in second only just out of BW colours to be fair. But with the change of course due to road works the Ken Duff was opened to C3's, and dear reader, this C3 wouldn't have lasted a lap. Both races very selective, even without the first climb over to Greenan, and the final climb of the Shay.

We're at 58 right now, some lads always leave it late so we'll see but once we close reg on Thursday that's it, we won't be taking any late entries, there's a lot of work for us to do with an event like this when reg closes.

The C1/C2 reg will stay open till friday lunchtime

58 is a decent number given Kanturk only made 34.
