The Boys - Amazon Prime Original - (**Spoilers**) (No Comic Spoilers!)

Gen v is brilliant

Yeah was definitely a dud of an episode. A few small nuggets of importance which could just as easily have been rolled into other episodes.

Most of the episode was decent. Parts of it really dragged just because of what I feel has already hampered the show; its insistence on just trying to be shocking and full of gore or sex, to increasingly diminishing returns.

There was a lot of great character work for members of the Seven in this episode (Firecracker especially, and I love Sister Sage so seeing she just wants to torch the world so she can hide in a bunker and be left in peace was great), but then you have to watch Butcher's dog have dreams about f*cking Homelander, and then eating chocolate. You have a bunch of celebrity cameos (which were fine but took the jokes and references too far out of the show itself), and then Mr.Marathon accidentally runs into Will Forte and he explodes. Nice callback to how A-Train did the same to Hughie's girlfriend in the very first episode. Then he runs into Craig Robinson and he explodes. Then Kumail and McLovin. Then Seth Rogan. We f*cking get it.

Most of the rest of the episode was great, but this is the second half of the final season. They really need to be focusing on drilling down into these characters for the endgame. Most of the episode was that and it was great, the rest was just needless nonsense. Getting incredibly bored of Homelander in general too.

I think I would have enjoyed it a lot more if they'd just pared it back a bit. They spent a bit too much time making references, and then we had to see them all, almost individually, get killed in the exact same way. I think they just over-indulged in it in what was already a long episode and very late in the season/show where they need to be wrapping everything up.
