totally, same here and now just after a big colossal final pay day to retire with and not hiding that fact. That’s the important thing…not about Irish boxing fans, or anything else… just her big fûck off last paycheck…‘Croker or nowhere’ is what she is actually saying, ………💶💶💶💶💶💶💀💶💶💶💶💶💶….

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,551 ✭✭✭✭AndyBoBandy

She and her team can rent Croke Park just like any other sport/band can…. As long as they pay the venue fee & associated costs…

It seems though Taylor and her manager want the Irish taxpayer to take the gamble by paying for this farce, while reaping none of the benefits (if it ends up a success)….

she’s not even from Dublin so why doesn’t she do her big fight in her hometown. At the Carlisle Grounds?

I don’t vote for any of the Government parties but I swear to the magical sky fairy if this goes ahead with taxpayer funds being used, it will be the first stick I use to beat the pr1ckş with when they come knocking on my door looking for a vote…

Just for the purpose of playing devil's advocate, "the Irish taxpayer" funds and pays lots of sportspeople and sporting events.

It was pointed out on second captains last week that Sport Ireland is one of the principal sponsors of the Irish Open in golf. Nobody's in uproar about giving those most needy of professional athletes, probably golfers, taxpayer money.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,944 ✭✭✭Jack Daw

Sport Ireland probably sponsors it as it's good for the country as a whole as anything that advertises Irish golf to a wider audience attracts tourists who come here to play golf. Irish golf provides a lot of tourists for the country

I flew home from Toronto recently and there were probably 20 golf bags on the baggage claim carousel for my flight.

Sports Ireland were unable to control Delaney/FAI who ran up 70m of debt and now are living off the Govt tit, when the debt is cleared, they will do it all over again.

To be fair she's used to just getting everything her way and no one questions her.

She's already got more than enough tax player funding over the years and wouldn't be where she is without it.

    Hazel Irvine.. just bugs me

The narrower a man’s mind, the broader his statements.

yeah, All I see is Eddie Hearn trying to manoeuvre this in such a way that the gullible Irish tax payer foots the bill for this, while he and Taylor would walk away with a massive massive payday if it's a success.. and even if it only sells 20,000 tickets and it's not the massive payday they dream of, fcuk it, those idiot Paddy's have paid for it so we're quids in, even if its a damp squid..

If it does even happen, it'll be an utter sh1tshow… it'll be like a wannabe Conor McGregor convention.. with no doubt the divine rapist himself there after numerous private jet flights to Dublin from Bogotá…

I suggest you listen to the Second Captains podcast on it.

They’re not seeking funding from the government this time around, not sure where this narrative is coming from.

Neale Richmond TD. I know people can say that about nearly every TD, but I find the man slightly patronising whenever I hear him speak. Malcolm Byrne would be similar as well, I find.

Probably RTE who have been trying hard to keep this ‘damp squib’ lit for the last few months.

The bird has flown on this one and Poor Pat avoided being gamed by this lot.

Ken Doherty - met him at a snooker exhibition in Goffs a few years back, and he came across as very smug and arrogant.

Did you listen to the Second Captains episode?

It specifically stated by Gavan Casey of the 42 that they are not seeking any government funding, hence why I'm asking where the narrative about them begging for taxpayers money is coming from?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,424 ✭✭✭✭Brendan Bendar

No I didn’t , however initially they tried to game poor Pat for security expenses.

When that was rejected and they realised that this was a dead duck they tried to alter the narrative.

Good and all as she was, and she was good, Taylor is now well past a saleable commodity wh could fill Croke Park on

    her own bill.

It’s what commercial sense is telling us.

    Derek Mooney.

Earlier, on live telly, he was trying to convince people that you could get a bag of chips and a bar of chocolate for 10p in the 90s.

I mean...a Chomp alone was 10p. And that might have been the late 80s.

(Full disclosure: I've never liked him.)

I could never stand him, he always came across as a complete eejit.

To expand on this. People who engage with their posts and say things like "stopped 5 years ago, complete waste of time and money, can't understand how anyone can like it"

Easy, because we get to a certain point with it in a night, and say that's enough. Something these people couldn't do and think their way is how everyone drinks. I'm sorry you can't have a beer or two some weekends without drinking until you're crippled the next day with it. Some of us engage with it socially and have great memories with it, but respect it for what it is.

To add my own thing, people who embarrass others on social media by recording them unwittingly or talking about them 2nd hand, like after a date. The concept of dignity and privacy has eluded these people. They're just desperate losers will commodify anything happening in their life for needy validation online and put it under "not that serious". Yeah, that's the problem you thick cnt, nothing ever is with you lot.

That's odd I guess everyone has off days I've often given him a nod and a hello and he was very friendly, once he even stopped his car on Castlewood avenue to let me out of a parking space which 8/10 people wouldn't

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,609 ✭✭✭✭pgj2015

Sometimes people mistake shy people for arrogance.

    Dr.Margaret Connolly,pressies sis,comes across as a bit of a dose.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,462 ✭✭✭Photobox

Same here. Saw him at Dublin airport some time ago, checking in at the same time as me, he was very friendly to everyone around him including the staff. Everyone has their off days alright.

Im not a mad snooker head I just lived in rathmines and happened to see him around but now that you mentioned it i actually did meet him on a bad day once…it was a scorching hot day and he was pushing a buggy across gravel and all his in-laws were with him and I gave him a more sympathetic nod and he responded with a "life is tough" sort of nod 😀😀

    ..

The thing about Katie Taylor for me is I thought she always batted for the other team if you know what I mean. If I’d known she was into fellas, I would have made a move on her ages ago. Now she’s settled down some evangelical American fella and a pile of his kids, not hers. Really bizarre

She’s good looking, would be deadly in the sack no doubt & is loaded. She could have had any fella, sickening

Elon Musk has to be my No 1 person I can't stand. He went from hero to zero pretty quickly after he ventured into extreme right wing politics. He has damaged his Tesla car company image beyond repair and seems to have already abandoned the cars in favour of robots.

Think of the thousands of jobs lost simply because of him - 20,000 from his german tesla factory alone and then the hundreds of thousands of well paid american jobs he cut while in charge of DOGE.

Now I frown with disgust at the sight of a new Tesla and cheer when one of his rockets blows up.

I recently say an oldish Tesla, the owner had glued a metal tag near the logo on the boot. It read, "I regret this purchase every time he tweets".
