I was wondering what World In Action would be doing on RTE but it was Word In Action. Wall-to-wall religious stuff in between the US cop shows and cheap movies!

    I'm partial to your abracadabra
I'm raptured by the joy of it all

One thing you may notice is the amount of religous programmes on RTE in those days. Some of it was of good quality ( mainly by the Radharc team) but a lot was talking heads in a studio.

CCanada Was the same. Confusingly, their series was called Man Alive, itself the title of a UK current affairs show

Stinas Diary originally shown on ABC Australia 1963. Made by Gunnar Issacson, Swedish born director whos credited with a number of documentaries in the 50s and 60s, mostly on nature and travel. Stina was his young daughter. There isn't much info online, there's a 1998 blog post with an interview with him here.

Note that children's programmes are gone for the summer from the 5:30 slot on weekdays, RTE imagined we were all out romping in the fields (actually in our case not far from the truth).

The World Of Wooster was almost entirely wiped, including this episode.

In a year of turmoil, RTE viewers were able to witness history live as RTE covered the infamous 1968 Democratic Convention in Chicago.

I'd imagine little or nothing of early Garda Patrol exists in the archives. Prior to 1985, when it got a snazzy new theme tune and opening sequence, I remember the intro as just consisting of a simple static slide card with the title and I think the Garda badge logo, accompanied by a soundtrack of either a bodhran or Lambeg type drum.

Archives of anything presented live (and not scheduled to be repeated) is basically non-existent until the 90s, mid 90s in some cases. I'm pretty sure Garda Patrol was live just like its successors still are. Those shows just weren't taped to begin with let alone tapes being reused.

See the news archives, which they're rescuing from rotting video tape. All report inserts and not the in-studio newsreader; and sometimes that means it is just the images with no voice at all.

The party leaders debate special on Sunday was to discuss the then forthcoming referendum to replace the PR system of voting with the British type first-past-the-post system.

"Like Now" ran till 1970. The entire series was wiped, among the lost performances were an early appearance by David Bowie.
