Maybe 5 or whatever. I’m not dogmatic on that. Where I live in deepest Canada I won’t get a chance to get in-person lessons again this year. I need quite a few for my short game as well.

Don't have any advice on who/where to go for lessons but if you are there for a fortnight and you have unlimited freedom to golf then try get a full boot camp day 1, go out and practise/play with what you learned days 2-3-4, another full boot camp day 5 then rinse and repeat. Back to back lessons don't offer much and I'm sure there is some instructor happy to take your money but any decent pro is going to tell you you need to go off an practise what they have thought you, even if you pick it up quick.

I’ve had many lessons over the years and I remember them fairly clearly, not that they’ve done my golf much good. I can try to put what they say into practice over the ensuing season.

I thought that they maybe re-branded, but cant remember now for sure

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,499 ✭✭✭Ivefoundgod

No they're definitely gone, had a fairly lengthy clearance sale for the best part of year. They rebranded to Kwack from Duck Hook allright but that was the only rebrand. I think I heard they were looking to sell up as it was a side gig for nearly all of them involved but nothing came of it so just gave it up. Shame, it was decent quality and happy to support a smaller Irish company like them.

Could be a crazy decision for rose to switch clubs to McLaren who make cars and not golf clubs. Don’t care how much they’re paying him

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,894 ✭✭✭Gandalph

I doubt it's because of the money, he could just take a bag at LIV if that was the case. Rose just seems like the gimmicky type of guy who gets excited by new product

Would expect Rose to grab a major this season. He is having a second flush.. Him and Fitzy for you boookie boys.

they are probably the exact same specifications to his old ones but with McLaren logo.

When he went Honma in 2019 people said the same thing, and on his 2nd start using the clubs he won the farmers open.

The narrower a man’s mind, the broader his statements.

He's already said he has been influencing the design over the past year or so, let's see what happens when one of the most cutting edge engineering firms in the world builds something for one of the top golfers in the world! I hope they perform better than they look anyway

74 in the first round for Justin Rose.

Rose was never with Miura, he was with Honma who are defunct now as far as I know. Funnily enough, widely known that Tigers irons for large proportion of his time with Nike were rebranded Miura's. I don't think Nike and Mclaren is a good comparison either way. Nike came to the market with the kitchen sink thrown at it, years of R & D and their ball was a game changer. McLaren are selling irons for €420 a pop(thats each), not a hope they are around for half as long as Nike were.

Yup, for a chunk of time Tiger was using Miura with Nike, until Nike could replicate. Titleist also used Miura to make irons for him, but he was also playing Titleist irons made in the Hoffman forge house in the USA, until that shut down, circa 2000 or early 2000s.

All Nike balls were made by Bridgestone. Nothing to do with Nike besides the logo.

Hi, hope it's ok to post this here. We have a 4 ball voucher for Doonbeg (Mon-Thurs) valid until Dec 2026, however we won't get to use it, where is the best play to try and sell it?

absolutely incredible trip, incredible courses and incredible weather.

    Mon : Elie

Tue : New Course and Jubilee

    Wed : Carnoustie

    Thurs : Fairmont 36 holes

    Fri : Lundin.

I think all in all it was about 2600 euro plus what I spent there. So thats for flights, accomodation (rented apartment between 2 right in middle of St Andrews), car rental and the 7 rounds of golf (plus caddie at Carnoustie). Not cheap at all but loved every minute.

What a tough game golf can be! I have had a nice, consistent game last couple of years, playing with 12 shots in most of our stableford competitions. Looking forward to pushing for single figures this year.

Recently my irons have been a bit off, no compression and poor distances. Went to the range and hit loads of balls to try to fix it and now have broken it completely. Balls spinning off to the right, a few feet off the ground. Can't figure out how I used to hit the ball at all. Gave up and left half a bucket behind me yesterday.

It's happened to me in the past more than once. Only solution is to get to a Pro and go back to basics again. 😫

I went through this for a few weeks there, it's horrible. Tried the range too but I found it just made it worse, put too many things in my head.

I think I am finally turning a corner and starting to get my swing back again.

It's a mad game. I had that happen to me and I just took two weeks off, forgot about the game entirely. My first round back I told myself to have zero expectation and I went out and shot my personal best. That was almost 2 years ago and it remains my personal best.

I'll never understand golf but I guess that's what keeps me coming back.

Really recommend Stewart Cartright Good Golf Coaching

Don't be put off by his interesting character, he keep it simple and knows his stuff.

Really emphasise sorting your grip first as you'll see, watch those videos first.

Has anyone used any golfing apps for strength and mobility? I am toying with this idea. I know you can get free stuff on you tube but to be honest I would like a routine and a plan and process tracked etc Fit for golf app seems to be highly recommended. Anyone try that or something similar and seen improvements?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,894 ✭✭✭Gandalph

I just went to a TPI certified physio for an initial assessment and then worked on what they told me were my weaker aspects of strength and mobility through their own program and youtubing other TPI certified professionals exercises, definitely money well spent because they were not exercises I would have ever considered in the past.

Do you mind me asking were or who you went too. I kinda want to do home workouts as havent time for gym with kids etc which include some stretching etc

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 9,189 ✭✭✭spacecoyote

    Could try 18STRONG Benny.

He does golf specific exercise plans and usually has deals on. You pay once and have access for life.

Had one called " Golf Body Blueprint - Anywhere" at some point which was a plan with exercise sets you didnt need to go to the gym to do

Are there any specific goals Benny? If it's more of a general strength and fitness thing, an active stretching routine such as Limber Eleven is very effective for improving mobility and a simple bodyweight routine for strength which includes squatting will be beneficial generally and not just for golf, there's a reddit group on this afair. Chat gpt can be very helpful with this kind of stuff if your specific with goals and what outcomes you want to see.
