Cloudy and dry morning in north Longford. 8c. Stock out now so just a morning walk to check things, which the dogs love. Heavy dew, so wellies on. Ground has gotten so dry though in the last week.

Beautiful morning. Back from a walk. Primroses, my favorite Irish wildflower.

Cloudy in Meath. A few slow moving moderate showers now too.

Primroses are beautiful. Something tells me April 19th is primrose day ?

Would mountain-forecast.com be the best website to get the weather on mountains here in Ireland?

Sky to the north still very bright. Astronomically twilight doesn’t end until just before midnight here. Not properly dark yet at 10pm. Impressive when you remember it’s still April. The difference a clear night makes.

I doubt it. Met eireann I'd say.

It was quite a cloudy day here in north Longford. Warmish, but not as high as recent days. We had some light rain in the late morning, amounts were small, but it was still noticeable precipitation. A beautiful bright sunny evening emerged from about 7pm and we had a red sunset.

Most stations reporting Fair conditions at 10pm with some brightness in the sky here in Castlebar, shaping up for widespread blue skies across the country Tuesday. Enjoy :)

Glorious morning. Wall to wall blue skies.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

Very foggy morning here in north Longford. It has just started to clear now with sunshine getting through at last. A chilly 7c in the fog, jacket and gloves morning. But looking forward to a sunny day when it finally lifts.

No fog here due to the easterly but fair amounts of cloud, not that I'm complaining. A bit of cloud for morning light doesn't hurt and it was class for a time this morning, picture from Portmarnock.

Thick cloud this morning. 9C. A gardening type of day. Forecast is good.

Very cold and cloudy in Dublin 8. That breeze has a right nip in it

Clear blue skies early this morning in Meath but more cloud now from a brisk ENE breeze. Temperatures have been bopped on the head with a mallet as a result.

As my granny used to say 'when the wind blows from the East, it's neither good for man nor beast'.

Have you tried black out sleep goggles? I'd be lost without them and you can get them quite cheap on Amazon.

Like you I'm very sensitive to the light. I sleep like a baby in winter, but without my goggles on these bright mornings I'd be awake first light and I'm not one to go to bed early. The goggles completely black out the morning light so I sleep until the alarm and they're comfortable to wear imo.

back to feeling really cold now in dublin with that wind, didn't seem as bad at lunch. tomorrow looks like it'll be really nice.

It's not the light itself stopping me sleeping, it's the need to experience dusk as a signal for sleep. It seriously affects my sleep cycle. I don't know how people claim to love it being bright til 11pm if they still have to be up by 5.30-6 for work.

Yeah I get that. Even in lovely weather like we have now I'm not a fan of this almost endless daylight. I just can't wind down when it's so bright outside. But I don't need to be in bed before 11-12. So I'm lucky in that sense as at least it's dark then, I've never survive up in Scandanavia, lol

I'd recommend blackout blinds to anyone who finds it hard to sleep in summer.

Now they don't block out every last bit and we also have curtains aswell( we like a very dark room, makes a big difference to sleep) but they really make a difference.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,357 ✭✭✭Bishop of hope

It'd be pretty regular for me to be out and about in the summer until 11pm or after. Up and out for 6 to 6:30 am again next morning. I've being doing it all my life. I don't know if its just down to individuals? But I'd sleep in bed if I was in it with the brightness too. I love the bright evenings and mornings. In winter I'd be in by 7 or 8 in the evenings but bedtime would still be 11:30 pm mornings the same as summer.

A beautiful bright clear morning in north longford. Clear blue sky with not even a jet trail in sight. Chilly 6c though.

Probably means more rain and less snow for us, with probably the odd few days of sweatbox conditions.
