Lynch acting the complete tool with that sending off cant have any complaints!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,445 ✭✭✭Jizique

I didn't think Riedy offered much today, a wide and some misplaced passes when he did get on the ball

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 234 ✭✭biglad40isback

I agree. But Kiely is a fan. Flanagan I think would offer more.

Positives are I thought Finn was monumental. English started very well but faded. Bull did well. Hego solid. Byrnes did well.

Mixed performance for o Connor. O Neill.

Wod was not comfortable at 6 but the goal was not entire his fault as was blasted at him

Missed a few points in the second half that cost us, O'Neill, O'connor and Hegerty should be scoring them. If we have a full team, Hegerty is coming off as usual, I thought he disappeared in the last 20 minutes. After the red card I thought Cork heads dropped as well. Stupid from Lynch, saying that, Cork players were dropping like flies at a touch and we need to be smarter than that.

Front 3 will be the same next week with O'Donovan in midfield probably. Our impact subs are scarce

Why they didn't use SOB more in the second half was baffling.

think the red to lynch bamboozled the coaching team and took away our short puck outs. All three full forwards I think were completely unbalanced from the start. Gillane going out a few days out made them to tear up the script a few days out.

Draw in the Tipp Waterford match means that if we win our two home games we will qualify, regardless of other results.

A loss next week to Clare would rule us out of Munster Final.

Beat Tipp and they are out, even with a loss v Clare

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 165 ✭✭guanciale

just home from game and would like to watch it on TV during the week.

Im not sure that Finn was good, but of curates egg. Pass to William was so poor. Nash made a lot of poor decisions when he won possession. David had a bad game, AOC and CON didnt really get up to the pitch of the game. Cian played well but had to go. Adam started well and faded badly. Byrnes had a decent game.

Shane was isolated inside with very few options for an outball - thats not his fault.

Our game plan isnt that great without 2 absolute ballers inside. Aaron was huge loss.

for all that we could have win. Errors, frees costly.

Ben has made Cork much more competitive in middle but he’s getting nothing from his forwards.

Just back now, and watching Cians incident over and over and over again.
its never a RED … That will be appealed and overturned.
    Owens strikes again.
    Cost us the match

Its a red all day. It probably did cost Limerick in the end, but I can’t see any appeal coming from it

Harsh red but a red all the same and obviously O'Mahony made a meal of it just like O'Donoghue did with Shane O 'Brien .Don't think it cost us the match tbh,we had more than enough chances even with 14 men to win it.Our accuracy needs to improve going forward or its going to be a short year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,090 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Very close game today but it was def a red card lads. He had 2 goes

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,904 ✭✭✭High bike

Looks like Aaron and Cian will miss the Clare match so its going to be a big ask in Ennis.Win loose or draw there the Tipp and Waterford are must win games to go through in 3rd place which might not be such a bad option. As we saw last year you don't have to win Munster to win the big one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,143 ✭✭✭Vinnie222

Draw and you still have a chance providing you win the home games. Imo DoD back in midfield will suit Limerick better next week

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,016 ✭✭✭C4000

Two home wins will be enough for qualification regardless of any other results.

We'd have 4 points and neither Tipp nor Waterford could get to 4.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 234 ✭✭biglad40isback

still think that a forward line of Flanagan. Bull with Casey doing his role would be better suited. Unless kinnerk will toy with putting Kyle up at full forward. It has been done before

Just back from the game. Initial thoughts is we were relatively comfortable 10 mins into second half, had 4 bad wides, Cork got the goal and sending off made the last 20 mins very difficult. Got a lucky enough goal to go ahead. My positive take away is worked extremely hard to limit Cork with the extra man. Cork with their tails up have a habit of going to town on teams but Limerick didn't let them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 459 ✭✭PIORUN

first 15 mins it was all Limerick. Ref kept them in it with frees. He was awful. Cork barely even cheered what they scored points. Awful goal to give away brought Cork and their fans back into it. Limerick very wasteful very bad wides. Hayes chance after goal was shocking and would have put 2 points between them. Unfortunately Peter Casey’s touch looks like it’s deserted him and Gillane loss was huge.
Going very hard after that to go to Ennis.

Haven't seen it properly but the red actually lifted us and gave us loads of space and energy. I think the result would have been the same either way.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,016 ✭✭✭C4000

I've no doubt we'd have gotten a result with 15. Came very close to stealing one with 14. A massive effort after the red but impossible to plug every gap.

Moment of madness from Lynch unfortunately.

Finn's pass out for the goal wasnt the best, but O Donoghue should still have done better.

Quaid made three unreal saves. O Connor and O Brien excellent in the first half. O Connor faded and there wasnt ball given in to O Brien after the red. Cork had cover then.

O Neill will get some stick for the wides, but he was a constant presence in the game and kept shooting, landed 4 overall.

Byrnes is back to his best. Great leadership to go for the goal when management were instructing the point.

Few critical wides in the second half. Hayes after the goal beat his man twice and just drifted it wide. Would have got a result if that went over.

We are lacking in forward options off the bench. Only Morrissey brought on. The likes of Hugh Flanagan, Fintan Fitzgerald dont have the experience at this stage.

Casey was hot and cold. Scored a great point from an awkward angle and then missed a much easier chance.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 385 ✭✭King Power Fox

Would you start Flanagan or Fitz and finish with Reidy/Casey/O Neill? Casey got a ball over his man under the South Stand and had open space, he shot quickly it was like he didn't back himself to get 20-30m closer to make sure. Maybe it was tiredness? Regarding Kyle Hayes, I was offered premium tickets from club underage selector here in Cork. These are 10 year tickets so saucy enough - you would think a higher brow type of supporter. They really don't like Kyle Hayes. He got dogs abuse.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,479 ✭✭✭FullBack Jam

On what basis is it not a red card. He struck with the hurl. And can't argue that he was going for the ball. It was intentional.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,016 ✭✭✭C4000

That was a bad wide, but Casey had some good moments as well. Great point from the other side earlier.

The two young lads need at least another year of development. Fitzgerald didnt even get much of a run in the league.

O Donovan will come in for lynch and probably the same otherwise.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 924 ✭✭✭lim4ev

Gillanes loss can't be underestimated his presence alone gives space to others, that game will stand to p casey he'll be way better for it next week. Considering we played what? 25 minutes including et? With 14 men in their cauldron I'd be satisfied enough I think there's better to come from us. Obviously I wanted something outta the game.

What an atmosphere down there in fairness ,I'm watching Limerick since 1979 as a young fellow and it was one of the greatest occasions

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 178 ✭✭Greensoup

most of our problems today were self inflicted - first goal poor decision by Sean and worse execution of pass, some terrible wides - 3 in a row in second half especially 2 from Cathal and Cian will know himself he messed up. Onwards to Ennis.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 526 ✭✭✭Iecrawfc

Thought we'd get a draw after the goal, Hayes miss in loads of space was a killer. The bench looks sparse with Flanagan, Fitzgerald x2 all very callow, only experienced lads trusted, they might be needed against Clare as there's nobody else with Lynch and Gillane out.

Can't see us beating Clare in Ennis without goals, not aure we have that threat in open play, would be happy with a point then 2 do or die home games.

On another note surely the munster council can schedule it better so teams are not playing away or home 2 games in a row, particularly first 2 games for any team.

Unseen work they'll tell us. As if every other player doesn't work their balls off!!

Yet oneill or o brien will get more criticism because they're actually getting on the ball and trying things!
