Jj's place kicking also deserves a mention. Kicked 3 out of 7. Didnt matter today but it was grim.

One was dead on and drifted, one was piss poor the other 2 were difficult kicks

Ya but its miles off whats required. We badly need to discover a decent option at 10 to cover Jack.

Kelly stepped up, I don't think we'll suffer too much with his form and Farrell being out (but leaves us bare bones if him or Nanks get injured).

Nanks is an absolute nightmare for defences, beast of a carrier/stepper

His kicking range as well isn't great, doesn't seem to get much distance on them. When I heard JJ was starting, I was hoping there'd be a reshuffle on the bench for Wood to get 25 minutes, but not to be.

Made hard work of it in the first half, but enjoyable by the end, you could see the lads were loving it, and going for it (the handling from Casey, Ahern and Coombes in the lead up to one of Hodnett's was class).

The injuries are a bit of a nightmare tho. Tom Farrell in particular looked in a really bad way.

Always gives me a chuckle when non-Munster fans have a go at Zebo.

He's partisan to a fault, often more fan than pundit at times, but can have some really good insights, especially into attacking play. Give me Zebo's personality and upbeat-ness any day over the dourness of the likes of Eddie O'Sullivan.

I think the Ulster youngsters deserve a lot of credit for their play in the first 25 minutes in particular. Munster were poor, but Ulster were playing at pace with power and some really good lines.

Agreed, thought Jake Flannery look good too, and he nailed a beaut of a conversion from the touchline too. We had some poor handling that gifted them possession and position at times, including right from the kicking off, but they were making the most of it.

They were but equally, Munster couldn't buy a penalty in the first quarter. How many times were Ulster in from the side at ruck time and thd officials ignoring it.

We were poor at receiving the initial kick off and it unsettled us, we held them up for two tries too so the game might have been different if they scored them.

But we turned it around and played some nice rugby and scored some great trys.

Its not often a hat trick is scored in a gsme, we had two hat tricks tonight and Hodnett scored a BP win of his own

I thought Zebo said something like that Edogbo might have an injury too.

Hope not, especially if Kleyn has something that will keep him out a while.

This hadn’t dawned on me. Class 😂

It was weird how it happened, he came back from his HIA and almost immediately was subbed off again.

With results not really going our way last week, that's a better set of results for us 2nite.

Connacht will be scrapping for everything in 2 weeks time, so nothing easy there at all, but if we managed to come away with a win, we could be looking to finish in the top 4. Leinster and Lions are playing each other next week so will take points off each other. Lions at home the last day out, and they don't seem like the same side on the road as at home.

Bulls have home fixtures to Zebre and Benetton so will be expecting 9-10 points, you'd imagine. We're level with Cardiff but they have 2 tough fixtures vs Glasgow and Stormers.

Tough ask, given how tight everything is, but would be great if we could sneak a home Quarter final.

Mike Mullins, Alex Wootton, Gav and Hodnett are the four Munster players who have scored 4 trys in a game

Agree Zeebs has very good insights to the game and was a top player. But having to listen to Jackman rabbiting on talking all the time to try make out he was a super player. Wouldn’t be fit to lace Zeebs boots.

Kind of quite around here today.

Bit of an odd game I suppose, alot of permutations to be considered and at least 3 players out for the remainder of the season.

anyone hear anything on crowley injury? Was it just an impact and preventative sub then…really need him next 2 games..

Soundings on the day were that it was a minor niggle in his leg wrt power in the week leading up to the game, so was touch and go for the game by Saturday.

Alex Kendellen made the URC Team of the weekend and he wasn't even a starter 😁

i think they go by points in their fantasy rugby league..

We have gone from a position of crashing out of the champions cup to loosing to a challenge cup team to getting our asses handed to us by Sharks to now having a statistically very decent chance at a top 8 finish

I think the mood is a mix of nobody wants to jynx it and a small bit of shock from the journey we've been on this season

JOD signs a one year extension

    A good call.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 331 ✭✭jimbob955

i dunno about this, we need to engineer more time for edogbo, quinn, foy etc, JOD impacts all this development

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 5,682 ✭✭✭budhabob

That's all well and good, but you also need experience within the squad. I think all the above will see more and more game time from next season on. Beirnes gameplay will be limited, Kleyn gone etc so game time will come.

It could also be a case that his physical attributes suit McMillans style and he wants him around next season as a result.

Yes, he's a Mick O'Driscoll type of player for us and one that McMillan seems to like in his match day squad

Who is left within the squad that is out of contract this summer?

He had a brilliant start to the season, looked back to his pre-injuries best. Form hasn't been as good since. Brings leadership too... think it's the right call for one year. We'll be glad of him on some of the less glamorous away trips where a bit of nous might be needed
