Have to agree totally with you, the worst football consistently from a Arsenal team in 50 years supporting them and when Arsene sees this type of play must make sick.

He really is a beast. Great acquisition I must say.

A wins a win, but our own making not winning that comfortably. The attacking players from this side is putrid. Did think that match was our hardest left on the fixture list. So ill take it.

Do think City will have to drop points though. As cant see us putting up big scores. Saka back is a positive, but the performance by Martinelli, Gyokores and Madueke were really poor.

Weird feeling as an Arsenal fan, being top of the league and a champions league semi final. But that performance was deflating.

Gyokeres is one of the worst players we have ever signed he is dreadful. Eddie N would have done better this year

He needs to be sold this summer, championship level at best

City must have some fixture congestion coming up. Their Bournemouth game will need rescheduling alone with the Palace game

Gary Neville called it after 20 mins. Arsenal are a team playing at a pace that they are 3 nil up, they need to pick up the pace, they never did.

Fulham wont be as poor as Newcastle. Nothing has changed, just got away with one.

ah he’s nowhere near the top ten of poor players Arsenal have signed, he’s streets ahead of Pepe off the top of my head

He’s scored 12 goals this season for us I’m sure and not being fed the ball from the midfield very well

    The internet isn’t for everyone

Next 3 games are all winnable and easy wins imo if we play to our potential. Palace away is a tough one, but will be a privilege to be in that position if a win guaranteed the title.

Im saying West Ham should be easy, based on the last few visits there. Is crazy though, 3 London derbies to finish off the season. Cant be many clubs at the top level having so many derbies, maybe Russian clubs.

I think, relative to the money they've paid, he might be in the top ten of most disappointing signings the club has made. He can't even trap the ball! He's so far away from what seventy million should have got you.

I know there's an argument that the team doesn't play to his strength, but I have to ask: what strengths?

He's got no pace, no anticipation, no ability to spot a pass, his touch is shocking for a player at this level and even in terms of strength, he's not notably strong when up against PL level defenders.

Okay he's got 12 goals - but there's penalties in there, which pads it out, and he had a good day against an utterly abject Spurs defence. Honestly, I think if they still had Eddie N running around up there things wouldn't be much different.

I don't think WH away will be easy at all. They're picking up points and drew with City there a few weeks back. Also, WH love being the spoilers. It'll be like their champions league final.

Perhaps getting ahead of things though. There's literally no easy games now because of the level of pressure.

Madueke a bit of a headless chicken too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,979 ✭✭✭BUACHAILL

Dont know where all the hate for Gyokeres comes from. Some people need to open their eyes.

A lad who bangs in so many goals for another club clearly knows how to score a goal. He has also scored more than any other arsenal player this season, yet people continue to hate so much on him.

Why buy him then completely try to change him as a player? He does not get the service...ever

And before people discredit the league he came from, only weeks ago you were all saying how tough the champions league fixture against them was going to be.

He couldn't execute a simple pass today. He simply doesn't appear to have the basics of technical skill that you would expect as standard from a player at Arsenal's level.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,979 ✭✭✭BUACHAILL

Could same the same for Odeagaard when Gyokeres was clean through, and Saka, and Rice. Havertz started today after missing sitters last week, why?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,138 ✭✭✭Deeper Blue

Thought Madueke was absolutely terrible, far worse than Gyokeres

The Pope foul on Gyokeres looked a definite red from where we were sitting, seemed like he had a tap in. Haven't seen any replays.

A win is a win but as others have said there's no way we win this on GD

I pray Eze isn't too badly injured, and Saka comes back firing. He looked decent tonight I feel

who ever plays up top for Sporting Lisburn scores 35+ goals a year.

Hes awful, he brings nothing to the team can’t holdup play, cant link up play and has no agility. He’s one of the worst strikers we’ve had ever had.

He’ll be gone with in the next 12 months mark my words and it’ll be back a level

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 16,395 ✭✭✭✭Arghus

You're entitled to your opinion and I don't know if I really want to spend too much time thrashing it out on here, but I would say, yes, you can pick examples of all of those players making errors too, but I'd argue that their skill level is far higher than Gyokeres'. I don't actually doubt their basic footballing ability.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,979 ✭✭✭BUACHAILL

You responded to my comment buddy, I am not expecting anything from you with all due respect.

For what it is worth I believe most of them are being played out of position.

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 4,709 Mod ✭✭✭✭Hyzepher

Gyokeres isn't our problem - the wingers are. We also need a better No. 10. Too many time we get into a good positions only to take too many touches, get tacked or go backwards. I'd say we average 1 or 2 crosses a game from open play. We're too predictable and probably the easiest team in the league to set up against.

    Sporting Lisburn? C'mon… That's full exaggeration! :-)

I don't get the full hatred of Vic tonight. I thought Madueke, with I'd say 10 times the passes to him than Vic had, was less productive? Just my eyes and poor old memory to feed that, no actual stats. Vic won possession a couple of times tonight that he had no right to win, especially against that Newcastle beasts defenders.

I was asked a question by one of my lads the other day. Let me pose it to you, would you rather win your last 5 games 1-0 or would you rather gamble in each of the last 5 and drop points? Let's face it, City struggled mid week too and today in the FA cup too. I know we are nervy, but I don't recall Raya having to make a save in the 2nd half… I'd rather win our next 2/3 nd see then where we are in the goals dept…. If we need a couple, then go all out for it.

As for the performance today, while it felt more Bournemouth than city, it was deffo more city. I'm confident going forward.

Finally on the injuries from today. Eze said it was only a slight feeling so pure precaution (or words to that effect) and Arteta said that Kai was a niggle. Deffo looked like a groin/adducter injury. Maybe a 2 week loss if we're lucky!

Positives were seeing Bukayo back and Ricky on the bench. Have faith people. If you don't have hope, what else do you have?

Arsenal have a much friendlier set of fixtures left, with the CL semi the only distraction, so if Arsenal can get over the fixtures around the CL without dropping points they will be in a great position. City have much tougher run in and will be playing catch-up, plus congestion pile up at the wrong time of the season. I also think Arsenal's last two fixtures is where you could get the required GD as both Burnley and Palace have nothing to play for and Palace might even have a European final to look forward to. City are in better form, but, everything else tilts things slightly in Arsenal's favour.

I had to search back to find this post. Before I start, this is not a personal dig at you BUACHAILL… I don't like reading in here during the game anymore, colours what I see/think is happening. Gary Neville is a d1ck who is full of sh1t, hell bent on setting agendas. He has zero clue about modern football and its management. Look at his brief managerial record. He is a bit like Keane or their ilk. They get social media and what it takes to spark controversy. Let's just say, he annoys me/my gang more often than not. And it's not even close.

You look at Mikel during that game today and tell me that he is happy with what his players are doing? I'm no football management expert, but I know an unhappy man when I see one! I'm married to one mostly! (Arsenal related, you shower of smart asses!!! 😁 )

I worry about the Fulham game considering it's between the CL legs. West Ham will be a tough game too. Win both and I'll start to believe somewhat. Think we should have enough to beat Burnley and Palace

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,979 ✭✭✭BUACHAILL

no offence taken, this was posted after the game tbf and I agree mostly with the d1ck comment.

He is not my favourite person but nobody can argue with his achievements. He knows what it takes to win. He is in a minority of footballers who has done it consistently and held down his position year in, year out in a winning team. love him or hate him he was a winner, so personality aside I do value his point of view, albeit loaded and one sided most times. Hurts me to say all that but that is the truth.

He has backed Arsenal all season to win and called out Arteta early doors for not allowing the players to express themselves on the pitch. I agree with him tonight and mostly all season in his observations. Arsenal have been pedestrian and predictable but none of that matters now, 4 games to go 4 wins needed, who cares how.

no comment on your marriage🤣 lol

1 down 4 to go, dont care how we do it if we win the next 4 we win it all.

    Believe!

A good win against the toughest opponent in our run-in.

    One-nil to the Arsenal !!!!

It's why I started supporting them.

He's excellent defensively but lacks a lot going forward. It's no coincidence either that the worst we've been in an attacking sense this season is the most recent weeks/couple of months when we've also been without Calafiori. He brings so much to the attack that Hincapie never will.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,758 ✭✭✭Underground

Hincapie is a beast. I think he’s everything Arteta wants in a player. Fantastic defender. He's a bit old school in that he doesn’t give you much going forward though, but I think with 4 games to go Arteta will just want his best defenders at the back, and that’s Hincapie. Calafiori is a brilliant talent but we’re unfortunately approaching Tomiyasu territory with him and I doubt Arteta feels he can rely on him in the run in.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,758 ✭✭✭Underground

The sight of the guys collapsing at the full time whistle after just about beating a poor Newcastle team who are 14th…Abject performance aside, that doesn’t look good to me, I fear we might be toast.

He's not everything Arteta wants in a left back though. He bought Calafiori for a reason. It was as much his attacking threat as his defensive capabilities. Hincapie doesn't have the attacking capabilities of Calafiori and it's why when both are fit Calafiori will the the nod to start games before Hincapie.
