it was pretty much all Shane. Koepka was at nothing

Explaining the journey that led him to eventually joining forces with Koepka, Lowry told The Golf Channel: "I asked about 10 or 12 other guys first and they all said no. Rory quickly said after last year, I don't think he wanted to come back.

"It wasn't until the end of the year I was doing my schedule, and I was going to add this in, that I knew I needed to start looking for a new teammate. I met Brooks down in Florida at a place where we both practice just after Christmas and mentioned that I might need a partner for New Orleans."

Looks like Brooks wasn't his first choice. However, I think once they enter, they would try their best to win it. I can't imagine the reason for missing the cut being not giving a shite! I think it just didn't happen for them.

I don't doubt that they started off seriously. But when it wasn't happening I reckon they just thought f#ck this can't be arsed...

They are only human after all.

That’s bs when he was doing up his schedule. It was when you got a chunk of change to put a company on your arm that it went on your schedule. It’s an event for guys looking to keep or earn a tour card as field is so weak it’s a free shot

Looking at the shot details by hole Koepka didnt whole his end up and Lowry with a half decent partner would be well placed today.

Why Shane wasnt playing with Seamus Power in that event is bizarre.

Sponsors and tv companies want eyes and Shane & Brooks will get more eyes than Shane and Seamus. Never mind either asking or rejecting the other

1 of the reasons that Lowry and Koepka paired up last week was that they both play Srixon.
Koepka and Srixon have just agreed to terminate their deal early.

    A practice weekend for Shane

Not down for next week. Probably needs it after last few weeks

So Shane under no pressure shoots one of the better rounds of the day,65,7 under ,probly earned him plus 100k but at least it was a good final round given his his recent meltdowns on final day which shud give a boost for the PGA.

I hope I am proved very wrong some Sunday evening soon, but I feel Shane will never win another tournament and certainly never win another Major.

Its hard to know if he will win or not but my belief if he does win again it be from posting a score and final few groups failing to catch him. I think the scars this year might never heal but I hope I’m wrong. Never mind who’s coming through.

from 1 shot off the lead overnight to maybe a bogey or two away from missing the cut isn’t good

Ah here, WTF? Shane started today at -2, a shot behind the leaders. I look at the leaderboard now and see he's on +5 after 17. SMH.

At what point does it become acceptable to say he might just be overrated? Oh but he won a major! So did Danny Willett.

he might be over rated now but he has had a great career by anyones standards but perhaps we are now seeing a great professional in decline ,he seems unable to absorb set backs in a round and regularly lately turns a bad round into a disastrous one.

Should make the cut with that bird on last

I would assume front 9 is big for him. Work back towards top half otherwise it’s a long weekend that I assume most players would want over asap

His career is resembling Willet's more and more.

At least Willet was plagued by injuries.

Shane was on a diet and fitness regime earlier in the year.

Seems to have fallen off the wagon.

Extra weight isnt helping his game either.

He's world no.38. I don't think anybody rates him any higher than that.

Comparing him to Danny Willett is ridiculous, it makes you sound clueless.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,118 ✭✭✭Trampas

Lowry has more consistent career but on wins and highest work ranking Danny beats him on both currently but Shane would be a better player and career. Players go through peaks and troughs. Unfortunately for Shane is his latest peaks he has failed to close them out.

and what about their longevity & consistency in the rankings over many years , and then their respective Ryder Cup records …. Simply no comparison imho, like none whatsoever imho…

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,118 ✭✭✭Trampas

I said Lowry has a more consistent career but stats can be viewed anyway you want. If looking at headline numbers you might think Willett was just as good as Shane.

On Ryder cup sure hasn’t Shane relied on a pick each time

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,631 ✭✭✭daithi7

Look there is simply no comparison.

Willet was like Lowry for a ~season or so!? That's it!!

Lowry has been a consistently good pro on the PGA for over a decade now iirc, is a major winner, has been in the mix in many other majors also and has a really excellent & hard won Ryder Cip record to boot. There's a reason he was selected you know!?

Also he's been in great form in the early part of this season, where he should have won twice in the PGA. He blew it both times & he's working through this but he's pplaying good golf overall. Most observers can see & acknowledge that at least.

    1. He has been & continues to be more consistent than Willet
    2. He has far more longevity in his career than Willet to date already
    3. He has featured in many more majors than Willet
    4. He has a far better Ryder Cup record than Willet could even dream of
    5. And he is not done yet as he is still playing & competing at the highest level in the game (i.i.e. PGA, Majors & Ryder Cups)

Oh but other than all those, they're quite similar really ;)

p.s. I mean they both play right handed , both are major winners and both hail from these Isles I guess!? Is that ??
