When I click in monzo, it takes me to Revolut app, I login and then just displays my account as usual.

It didn't bother me too much but clicked feedback to say it didn't work.this morning, someone from that team section contacted me to resolve the issue.

    Impressive.

Monzo has a Central Bank of Ireland licence. Revolut only Lithuanian licence. Monzo has a human customer service and if something goes wrong, you can chat with an actual person, not a bot. Not sure about Revolut, but on Monzo you can link with AIB, PTSB or Revolut accounts and see their balances in Monzo. Monzo is more user friendly than Revolut which changes the location of buttons with some updates. Monzo is more consistent and user friendly. Revolut seem cluttered, you need to dig for some functions and crypto don't make them look as a serious bank... Monzo has a better reputation than Revolut. I simply use Revolut for only trips to the UK. I now use Monzo for expenses and EBS to get incoming salary. This allows me to have my funds separated in a few banks and all for free.

I concur with the above user. Monzo appealed to me as far more trustworthy than Revolut for main banking (as in Revolut freezing your account and hassle to unlock it). I've found monzo CS excellent.

And there's no limit on foreign exchange plus no weekend charge.

we will see what more Monzo can offer . You can link other bank accounts in Revolut to .

Monzo is currently offering a €10 sign-up bonus for new users who join via a referral link and make any small card payment with it. It’s a handy digital bank if you’re looking to switch things up or just want the bonus.

Just noticed that you can now link with Bank of Ireland account on Monzo. Now would like to see EBS, Credit Union and Avant (Bankinter).

same here, wages in just after 9. Hopefully it becomes earlier in the future.

I'm look to swap AIB for Monzo once I draw down my mortgage. I don't want the AIB fees so happy to close it. Odd that Monzo is slow with wages. With AIB I paid ~4am and colleagues on Revolut get paid 7/8PM the evening before.we

It's a minor annoyance and I've put it in the feedback to them as a request. I'd recommend others do the same as they do read the feedback.

My first wages came up as a notification with the amount which I wasn't happy with as anyone seeing my phone could see the amount. But you need notifications for everything else so I gave feedback and today, it comes up as "you've been paid by…. " but no amount. Very happy with that.

All in all, nothing bad to say about them after 2 months use. I really like the app, better than any other banking app I've tried.

exactly the swap I did, highly recommend tbh AIB isn’t exactly doing anything brilliant to justify the 6 euro, other then having branches. I do have a credit union savings account I can deposit cash too if needed but I’ve done that once in the last 7 years!

I don't know why I am still hesitant (or just lazy) to open an account with Monzo. I feel Revolut is doing the things I want, and Revolut is free in my case.

On their website for Ireland, it says a feature is

See exchange rates in the app

IE-homepage See exchange rates in the app

Understand exactly what you’re spending while abroad by seeing the real-time exchange rate before you confirm payment.

But I can't find it anywhere. It will give the exchange rate AFTER you do a purchase but I can't find anything like revolut which gives a real time rate before purchase. I know they follow the mastercard rate but it can change throughout the day and you can only see the previous day on their website.

I am thinking of moving my banking to Monzo but I have so many DDs….is there any easy way of switching them to the new account?Any ideas?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 883 ✭✭✭spuddy

don't try do it all in one go, chip away at them, keep both accounts running in parallel for a few months.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 805 ✭✭✭glen123

Looks like this is what I will have to do. Some DDs are so old like Life insurance, I ll have to dig through archives to find where to write.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,215 ✭✭✭✭TheDriver

I had mine switched over easily. Just watch for those that lodge their claim early eg vhi is 10 days before actual date.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,235 ✭✭✭Citrus_8

What exactly is "so many"? I have 9 and have all of them listed in my Excel file. So I'll just go to each provider's website to change my IBAN for DD. And those which don't do a change on the website I will call. But most of them these days are letting to change online anyways...

As others mentioned, just run your bank accounts paralel for perhaps 2 months and have enough money in both banks to cover the DDs.

If managed well, it should be all right.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 805 ✭✭✭glen123

I have 12 plus things like Child benefit etc.

I was able to change nearly all of them online except my mortgage with EBS, life assurance with New Ireland, Child benefit (don’t have my welfare account) and Pure for my internet.

Wrote 3 letters and will give Pure a call on Monday so it wasn’t too bad after all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,235 ✭✭✭Citrus_8

Glad to hear that it worked out well! 9 out of 12+ being online is very good.

Did money transfer to another Irish bank account, put a certain reference name on it for the other side to identify it but it came through with the reference of “CTTX” to them so it took a few emails for me to help them to find my payment amongst all others.
