    Some donkey.

Hard to see him kicking off a bombing campaign again with elections looming.

So maybe some sort of phoney war where ships will start moving again while pretending they are not.

I think he genuinely doesn’t want to go through with the threatened carpet-bombing and woukd take any off-ramp Iran is willing to give him…

he is just so predictable. Appalling human being. Nothing that comes out of his gob has any integrity

Classic pump and dump moments before. Totally blatant. There'll have to be another investigation that goes nowhere.

"extend the Ceasefire until such time as their proposal is submitted, and discussions are concluded, one way or the other" Trump has posted.

So an indefinite ceasefire, or to put it another way a complete stop to the war.

This from the POTUS would demanded unconditional surrender only a few weeks ago and now has agreed to stop the war entirely on Irans timetable.

What a complete embarrassment for the US. Forget Vietnam, Korea, Afghanistan. This is probably the single most devastating defeat the US has ever suffered. And defeat it 100% is.

Billions spent and Iran come out of this more powerful than they went in.

No country is ever going to take a US threat seriously. They failed on tariffs, failed in Greenland and now the ultimate failure in Iran.

All the other ME countries need to seriously reevaluate their strategic miliitary partnerships with US as they clearly cannot rely on the US to protect them.

While it is nice to see Trump fall on his face so completely, unfortunately the upshot is that Iran is now more powerful and the world is worse off than before February 28th. We are all going to pay a high price for the US electing such an incompetent person.

Trump has decided to await an Iranian proposal...
Which given that when he announced the ceasefire 2 weeks ago?

    jg4o1j.jpg

He did so on the basis of the Iranian 10 point plan, before immediately trying to walk back the Lebanon ceasefire component whilst Nethanyahu was still trying to push to the Litani.
Is a ridiculously poor reflection on the standard of the US's diplomacy.

The lack of any experienced diplomatic leadership amidst the most economically consequential Gulf conflict ever is an awful indictment of just how ridiculous the US political appointee system is.
Another layer of ridiculous on top of its ersatz monarchy, sorry presidency.
The ease at which congressional oversight of the power to wage war has been subverted?
    Is both terrifying and hilarious.
The thickest Muppet to ever hold office has thanks to Russ Vought and Co, completely ignored the vaunted checks and balances and done so without consequences.

What happens if Iran don't want a ceasefire and start bombing again when the current deadline passes.

USA is fine for oil and gas, Venezuela is under their control, Russia is sanctioned for the time being and the oil superpowers of the middle east can't deliver to a slowly starving China, India and EU.

Trump is making the US "hot" by making the rest of the world cold.

In another month we will be begging for the sanctions on Russia to be lifted.

Trump is in no rush to have this war with Iran over.

He is loosing his sh1t by the day though.

He's so dumb and unhinged, who knows what he'll do. If Congress had any cojones, he'd have been relieved of his duties by now.

He obviously expected this to go like Venezuela. The US simply does not have any understand of how the Middle East works. The Iranians may be under a horrendous regime but they are incredibly proud people and will never fold to a foreign aggressor. It's a matter of honour and pride for them. Trump has neither of these qualities so will never even begin to understand it.

no chance, last thing they want is to resume shooting war…

An absolute bully that hasn't been thumped but poked with a finger 1000 times.

He should be shunned by the international community and widely ignored.

I can't see US gas prices falling any time soon as elections are looming.

Spot on by James Matthews on SKY

"Remember the days when Trump spoke about regime change, he spoke of destroying Iran's nuclear capability," Matthews says.

"If the measure of success is where he was then against where he is now, I think that is a level of success that stands at zero."

Matthews says Iran still has nuclear capability and there hasn't been a regime change despite his claim.

"There has been a shuffle in the regime personnel," he adds.

"Nothing has been achieved beyond negatives."

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 654 ✭✭✭rayman10

Not really. There's a lot of by products which I'm sure they need.

And there's grades of oil they don't have which they need to use in tandem with what they have.

Then you have everything from fertilizer to the cost of air freight and passenger seats to consider.

There's also the cost of fuel at the pump for their gas guzzling cars.

How long before he comes out and says he stopped another war… in Iran (the one he started)

He is such a buffoon and doubt he even realises how he comes across to the rest of the world (evidenced by his 'look at me' speeches around the various world meetings) - "We will keep extending this ceasefire until we agree to your terms" comes to mind, as he knows this is a war he can never ever win!

Went to war on Iran with zero tangible evidence of nuclear armament, and has wrecked the rest of the world's economies. And if the story about the nuclear codes is true he should have been immediately removed from office.

How can someone so stupid become president of the USA, then I remember some of the previous ones…
The USA really needs a change in how democracy works. Is there any other country bar the more communist ones that would allow the president to unilaterally just go to war with another country for no reason? Even China is not that mad to attack Taiwan, Putin is just a megalomaniac, North Korea just a basket case

Just watching the ITV news there and they are saying 26 ships have passed the US "blockade"

So maybe the "blockade" will be something that Trump will shout about while secretly knowing it's a bit of a publicity stunt.

The US are indeed exporting record oil but aren't they still a net importer of crude at least?

    https://www.timesofindia.indiatimes.com/world/middle-east/irans-military-cuts-off-khamenei-from-own-govt-tightens-grip-over-state-functions-report/

In other news it's looking like Trump will be negotiating exclusively with the IRGC.

    https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/ce84e31376zo

Massive job losses and inflation in Iran now as they struggle to deal economically with this war. If Trump strangles their exporting ability through the straight we could see civil unrest again. No problem for the IRGC however, they're very good at shooting their own protestors.

I'm on the verge of a site ban. Please don't rage bait me, I'm easily triggered especially late at night!

USA is fine for oil and gas

    It isn't.

    Venezuela is under their control

It's not, and its already been debated that it will take years and years to get drilling there again. Along with the oil companies telling Trump that it is not an appealing place to invest in.

Trump is making the US "hot" by making the rest of the world cold.

    What?

In another month we will be begging for the sanctions on Russia to be lifted.

Or, just Trump could stop the war he started.

Trump is in no rush to have this war with Iran over.

A few more TACO decisions are on the way. Iran literally has to do nothing.

He is loosing his sh1t by the day though.

    Agreed.

It would be good or nice if HIS latest mention of the ceasefire continuing could be taken by Iran as a sign that peace in their time could be attained. A TACO on HIS policy of HIS navy firing on and stopping and seizing control of Iranian shipping in international waters by way of a simple order that no shipping exiting the straits will be challenged and interdicted by HIS navy and confirmed by Hegseth issuing a Pentagon statement that HIS order would be complied with.

There are other major mercantile nations with armed navies who could form a small escort fleet as guarantors to supervise free movement of shipping LEAVING the Persian gulf & straits as some of those navies have a presence outside the gulf in the international waters.

Last week, he already posted, "It has been my Honor to solve 9 Wars across the World, and this will be my 10th, so let's, GET IT DONE! President DONALD J. TRUMP".

This second term has had plenty of items that will be remembered by history (tarifs, ICE, Greenland etc) but none more so than Iran. The US is not “hot” it’s a laughing stock. You can’t win a war or negotiate using Truth Social.
